Glutamate is to be considered a nociceptive neurotransmitter and glutamatergic antagonists present antinoceptive activity. In this study we investigated the effects of the naturally occurring antinociceptive compounds rutin, geraniin and quercetine extracted from Phyllanthus, as well as the diterpene jatrophone, extracted from Jatropha elliptica on the binding of [3H]glutamate and [3H]GMP-PNP [a GTP analogue which binds to extracellular site(s), modulating the glutamatergic transmission] in rat brain membrane. Jatrophone inhibited [3H]glutamate binding and geraniin inhibited [3H]GMP-PNP binding. Quercetine inhibited the binding of both ligands. These results may indicate a neurochemical parameter possibly related to the antinoceptive activity of these natural compounds. 相似文献

Insects that live in the interior of caves show the basic internal temporal organization of coupled oscillators. Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis is a rapid and efficient technique for detecting large numbers of
DNA markers in eucalypts. We have used AFLP markers in a two-way pseudo-testcross strategy to generate genetic maps of two
clones of different Eucalyptus species (E. tereticornis and E. globulus). Of 606 polymorphic fragments scored, 487 segregated in a 1 : 1 ratio, corresponding to DNA polymorphisms heterozygous in
one parent and null in the other. In the maternal E. tereticornis map, 268 markers were ordered in 14 linkage groups (919 cM); the paternal E. globulus map had 200 markers in 16 linkage groups (967 cM). Results from PGRI software were compared with MAPMAKER. The average density
of markers was approximately 1 per 3.9 cM. Framework markers were ordered with an average confidence level of 90%, covering
80–100% of the estimated Eucalyptus genome size. In order to investigate the homologies between the E. tereticornis and the E. globulus genetic linkage maps, we included 19 markers segregating 3 : 1 in the analysis. Some homeologous linkage groups were recognized.
The linkage data developed in these maps will be used to detect loci controlling commercially important traits.

One family group of common marmoset ( Callithrix jacchus ) was observed in captivity under natural environmental conditions to describe the circadian pattern of grooming behavior during the pregnancy of the reproductive female. The animals were observed by focal sampling, from the beginning to the end of animal's active phase, during two non-consecutive days per week, from August to November 1996. The duration of self-grooming and social grooming behavior of each animal were totalled each hour. The time series obtained were analyzed by Cluster Analysis and by Sin gle Cosinor Analysis. The daily patterns of grooming behavior during pregnancy were divided by Cluster Analysis into two stages, one corresponding to the second half of the third month of pregnancy, and the other from the last half of the third month to the last week before parturition. The confidence intervals of acrophases overlapped in all stages. The acrophases values of the first stage occurred between 10:09 h and 11:00 h, and on the second stage between 8:51 h and 11:13 h. The daily pattern of grooming behavior of adult male and female showed a trend to increase in the first hours of the active phase. This trend to advance grooming behavior during the second stage of pregnancy may be due to an effect of the coming parturition itself or to seasonal influences. 相似文献

A high-performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of albendazole sulfoxide (ABZSO) enantiomers and albendazole sulfone (ABZSO2) in human plasma. The resolution of ABZSO enantiomers and ABZSO2 was obtained on a Chiralpak® AD column using hexane–isopropanol–ethanol (81:14.25:4.75, v/v/v) as the mobile phase. The drugs were detected by fluorescence (λexc=280 nm, λem=320 nm). The drugs were extracted from 500 μl plasma with ethyl acetate, and after solvent evaporation, the residues were dissolved in the mobile phase and chromatographed. The method was precise and accurate for the three compounds, as judged by the coefficients of variation and relative errors observed. Linear standard curves were obtained in the concentration range of 5–2500 ng/ml for ABZSO enantiomers and 1–500 ng/ml for ABZSO2. A typical plasma concentration–time profile is presented for one patient under treatment for neurocysticercosis. 相似文献

Alouatta guariba clamitans (brown howler monkey) is an endemic primate from the southeastern Brazil tropical forests, classified as near threatened by the IUCN Red List 2007. The genus Alouatta is one of the most difficult New World monkeys to breed and rear in captivity. In this study we examined the macroscopic and histological aspects of the female genital tract of wild brown howler monkeys to provide baseline information for future reproduction research. The anatomical relationship between the vagina, uterus, broad ligament, oviducts and ovaries are those of a typical primate reproductive tract. The fundic portion of the uterus is globoid, the cervix is well developed, which confers to the uterus an elongated shape, and the vagina is a long flattened channel. Histological analysis conducted in females in the follicular phase revealed large quantities of interstitial luteinized tissue in the ovaries, a stratified nonkeratinized vaginal epithelium, lack of glands in the vaginal mucosa and simple tubular endometrial glands. The observed anatomical features should be considered in the adaptation and application of assisted reproductive techniques aimed at improving captive reproduction for species conservation. Am. J. Aims: To examine the occurrence of and to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility of Corynebacterium pseudodiphtheriticum among patients with bacterial infections at a teaching hospital.
Methods and Results: A total of 113 Coryne. pseudodiphtheriticum strains identified by conventional biochemical methods and API-Coryne System were recovered from patients from different age groups: 65·48% adults (18 to ≤59 years old), 9·73% aged (≥60 years old); 14·15% infants (<18 years old); 4·42% newborns (0–7 days). Micro-organisms were mostly related to infections in the urinary (29·2%) and respiratory tracts (27·45%) and intravenous sites (18·6%). Clinical samples were obtained only from 32·7% patients (26 adults, four aged, four infants and three newborns) presenting at least one of the predisposing conditions: end-stage renal disease; renal transplant; AIDS and Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection; cancer, hepatic cirrhosis; haemodialysis and catheter use. Antimicrobial susceptibility tests identified multiresistant phenotypes. Most strains (>50%) were resistant to oxacillin, erythromycin and clindamycin.
Conclusions: Despite significant differences in age and functional status of patients Coryne. pseudodiphtheriticum may be implicated as a cause of respiratory and nonrespiratory human infections.
Significance and Impact of the Study: Data are valuable for practitioners indicating the occurrence of multiresistant phenotypes and the possibility of severe infections due to Coryne. pseudodiphtheriticum , a pathogen usually overlooked in emerging countries. 相似文献
