Cretaceous shallow-marine carbonate rocks of SW Slovenia were deposited in the northern part of the Adriatic Carbonate Platform. A 560-m-thick continuous Upper Cenomanian to Santonian carbonate succession has been studied near Hru?ica Village in Matarsko Podolje. With regard to lithological, sedimentological, and stratigraphical characteristics, the succession has been divided into nine lithostratigraphic units, mainly reflecting regressive and transgressive intervals of larger scale. During the latest Cenomanian and Early Turonian, hemipelagic limestones were deposited on top of shallow-marine lagoon and peritidal Upper Cenomanian deposits indicating relative sea-level rise. Subsequently, the deeper marine depositional setting was gradually filled by clinoform bioclastic sand bodies overlain by peritidal and shallow-marine low-energy mainly lagoonal lithofacies. Similar lithofacies of predominately inner ramp/shelf depositional settings prevail over the upper part (i.e., Coniacian to Santonian) of the succession. In the area, the Upper Cetaceous carbonate rocks are separated from the overlying Lower Eocene (Upper Paleocene?) carbonate sequence by regional unconformity denoted by distinct paleokarstic features. On the Adriatic Carbonate Platform the deeper marine carbonate setting, developed at the Cenomanian/Turonian boundary, is usually correlated with OAE2 and related eustatic sea-level rise. Similarly, subsequent reestablished shallow-marine conditions are related to Late Turonian long- and short-term sea-level fall. However, we are suggesting that deeper marine deposits were deposited in a tectonically induced intraplatform basin formed simultaneously with the uplift of the northern and northeastern marginal parts of the Adriatic Carbonate Platform. 相似文献

Narrow-clawed crayfish, Astacus leptodactylus is a native European freshwater crayfish species, also distributed in Croatian freshwater systems belonging to the Black Sea drainage. Its taxonomical status is still in the process of change and discussion, and the data on morphological, molecular, ecological and zoogeographical characteristics of this species are scarce. Therefore, comparative analyses of morphological characteristics were applied with the aim to contribute to the knowledge on the morphometrical and meristical characteristics of A. leptodactylus. Recent research proved that measurements of a large number of morphometrical characteristics, in combination with multivariate statistical analysis, could provide a good instrument for identification and differentiation between populations. In this research altogether 143 animals were analysed (121 from two Croatian populations and 22 from Armenia). 22 morphometrical characteristics and 4 meristical characteristics, per crayfish, were measured. It was found that males and females differ between populations in measured meristical and morphometrical characteristics. None of recorded meristical characteristics proved itself to be reliable characteristic for distinguishing populations. From measured morphometrical characteristics the most discriminant characteristics for separating males from different populations were those describing carapace shape and for females those that describe shape of the claws. 相似文献

The ladybird Harmonia axyridis (Pallas) is considered one of the most serious invasive species around the globe. It has spread all over North America and Western Europe, while data from southeastern Europe, especially in the Mediterranean region, are scarce. In this study we present the first confirmed data of the spread of H. axyridis throughout Croatia. Specimens were sampled and identified during the period 2008–2010. The species was recorded at 18 localities in all three colour forms in various habitat types. Light trapping was found to be a satisfactory method for collecting H. axyridis. Since there is no evidence to suggest the deliberate introduction of H. axyridis in Croatia, it can be assumed that it has spread southwards from Central and Eastern Europe, and that it will probably continue to spread. Further investigations should focus on monitoring and detailed mapping of H. axyridis in Croatia and neighbouring countries, especially in the Mediterranean region, to determine whether stable populations are present. 相似文献

Biodiversity surveys of aquatic macroinvertebrates in standing water rely on various methods, but a thorough comparison of the techniques is lacking. This hampers analyses across surveys and impedes development of efficient sampling schemes. We compare the selectivity and efficiency of four methods commonly used to collect aquatic insects – activity traps (ATs), box trap (BT), handnetting (HN) and light trap (LT) – using a large dataset on water beetles in a site with ~100 species. We propose to use time investment as a natural basis to compare efficiency, since it applies to any method. The results inherently differ from results based on samples or individuals because methods are neither equally demanding nor equally rewarding. Most differences between methods arise from their size selectivity: ATs select for larger species, while HN and BT seem least selective. Attraction to light is taxon-specific and LT yields more depauperate samples than ATs, BT and HN, limiting the use of LT in community studies. To boost the development of cost-effective protocols, we also identify the best designs for rapid bioassesment by simulating short surveys from the data. Combinations of ATs and BT give most species; the results are robust to partitioning of effort between both methods. However, these rapid surveys miss on average more than 40% of all species in our study. Our results therefore emphasize that long-term studies using multiple methods are vital for measuring diversity in species-rich freshwater habitats. 相似文献

We analyzed the influence of cytology development to frequency of precancerosa (Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 - CIN 3) and cervical cancer. The number of examined Pap smears increased significantly in the analyzed period. The calculated linear trend shows an average four-year increase of 17,283.35 smears. The number of detected CIN 3 increased accordingly. The calculated linear trend shows an average four-year increase by 45.03 and decrease of the rate of 0.07. A slight increase in cervical cancer was also noticed. The calculated linear trend shows an average four-year increase in cancer by 1.6 and decrease in the rate of 0.51. Analyses of cervical cancer by stages showed an increase in number of stage I and decrease of other stages. The calculated linear trend shows an average four-year increase of stage I by 4.94 or decrease in other stages of cervical cancer of 3.29 respectively. The rate of cervical cancer stage I decreased by 0.11 and of other stages by 0.39. Further analyses of the stage I showed that the linear trend of IA stage had an average four-year increase by 5.40 and decrease in stage IB of 0.48. The rate of the cervical cancer stage IA increased by 0.02, whereas the rate of IB decreased by 0.13. Cytology development in our country has resulted in detection of higher number of CIN 3 and the earliest stage (IA) of cervical cancer whereas the number of other stages (IB, II, III, IV) has decreased. However, a total number of cervical cancers haven't changed over the whole period. Thus, it is obvious that opportunistic program of detection, which has been using in Croatia, could not decrease frequency of cervical cancer. Erythropoiesis requires the stepwise action on immature progenitors of several growth factors, including stem cell factor (SCF), interleukin 3 (IL-3), and erythropoietin (Epo). Epo is required to sustain proliferation and survival of committed progenitors and might further modulate the level of expression of several erythroid genes, including globin genes. Here we report a new SCF-dependent immortalized mouse progenitor cell line (GATA-1 ts SCF) that can also grow in either Epo or IL-3 as the sole growth factor. When grown in SCF, these cells show an "open" chromatin structure of the beta-globin LCR, but do not significantly express globin. However, Epo or IL-3 induce globin expression and are required for its maintainance. This effect of IL-3 is unexpected as IL-3 was previously reported either to be unable to induce hemoglobinization, or even to antagonize it. This suggests that GATA-1 ts SCF cells may have progressed to a stage in which globin genes are already poised for expression and only require signal(s) that can be elicited by either Epo or IL-3. Through the use of inhibitors, we suggest that p38 may be one of the molecules modulating induction and maintenance of globin expression. 相似文献

The greening of the upper part of the outerAllium cepa L. bulb scales, in particular along the vascular regions, is limited to the hypodermal cells in which typical leucoplasts are transformed to normal and functional chloroplasts.
