Helicobacter pylori in Barrett's esophagus.   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Barrett's esophagus is an anatomicoclinical state in which, due to the prolonged action of gastroesophageal reflux, the squamous epithelium is replaced by columnar epithelium. Helicobacter pylori has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various gastrointestinal disorders and has occasionally been observed in Barrett's esophagus. The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of H. pylori in Barrett's esophagus and try to establish its role in the pathogenesis of this disorder. H. pylori was observed in 31 biopsies (44.3%) of the 70 studied, mainly when the epithelium is of the gastric atrophic-fundic type (p less than 0.01). Its presence shows no relation to the degree of inflammatory activity and does not seem, therefore, to play an important role in the pathogenesis of the lesion.  相似文献

The importance of cell-aggregation during retinoic acid-induced neural differentiation of embryonal carcinoma cells was studied on the PCC-7 cell line. These cells were chosen as they display low tendency for spontaneous aggregation, and they develop preferentially to neurons upon induced in vitro differentiation. Forced aggregation of these cells, in the absence of retinoic acid, did not result in development of neuron- or glial-like cells. Application of retinoic acid prior to or after the cell-aggregation did not result in neural tissue-like differentiation, either. Irreversible induction of neural development was achieved if cell-aggregation and retinonic acid acted simultaneously, and for a period longer than 48 h. Retinoic acid, on the other hand, was found to be toxic on non-aggregated PCC-7 cells. Our data suggest that cell to cell contacts alter the response of these cells to retinoic acid, and their close apposition is a prerequisite for the retinoic acid-induced neural differentiation.  相似文献

Urtica is characterized by an erythematous wheal surrounded by a flare and is frequently caused by physical agents (e.g. cold). The exact mechanism and mediators involved in the mechanism of physical urticaria are not known. This study of the role of the neurogenic factors in cold urticaria showed, that local capsaicin treatment (desensitization) of the skin in patients with cold urticaria resulted in the abolition of whealing in response to cold. This result suggests that C-fibers might play an important role in the pathomechanism of idiopathic contact cold urticaria.  相似文献

Data in the literature concerning the role of macrophages in anaphylaxis are contradictory. In the present study the effect of macrophage blockade induced by gadolinium chloride (GdCl3) on anaphylactic shock was investigated. Our observations show that GdCl3 prevents the lethal anaphylactic shock of mice sensitized to ovalbumin. GdCl3 given i.v. in a dose of 1 mg/100 g body weight 24 or 48 h before the elicitation of anaphylactic shock resulted in 90% survival, compared to the 43% survival in the control group. The same dose of this rare earth metal salt also greatly reduced the mortality in mice sensitized with ovalbumin containing Bordetella pertussis vaccine, and the symptoms of anaphylaxis including the accumulation of 5-hydroxytryptamine in the liver. Our results suggest that macrophages play an important role in anaphylaxis.  相似文献

The effect of short lasting hypoxia on blood pressure, plasma atrial natriuretic peptide level and number of specific atrial granules were studied in 26 male spontaneously hypertensive and 24 normotensive Wistar rats. A great difference occurred in ANP secretion between hypertensive and normotensive rats. In the hypertensive animals elevated plasma ANP concentration (130 +/- 27 pg/ml) and decreased granularity in the right atria (73 +/- 2) were found on the first day of hypoxia with a slight elevation in urinary sodium content versus normotensive controls. The blood pressure also decreased although not significantly (190 +/- 14 mm Hg). In Wistar rats increased plasma ANP (130 +/- 34 pg/ml) and decreased atrial granularity versus normotensive controls (72 +/- 10 in the left and 113 +/- 16 in the right atrium) were observed only on the third day of hypoxia without changes in blood pressure and natriuresis. In SHR the rapid but short timed ANP release might be of right atrial origin and probably the consequence of a continuous and perhaps increased secretion of the peptide in normoxic conditions too. In Wistar rats the plasma ANP elevation could be secondary due to the increased plasma level of different vasoactive hormones to hypoxia. In the altered effect of ANP in hypertensive and normotensive hypoxic animals, structural and functional changes in the vascular bed may play a role.  相似文献

Denervated fast-twitch rabbit muscles were progressively losing their fresh weight and the yield of sarcotubular protein was increasing. The activity of Ca(2+)-ATPase was affected but very slightly, the basal Mg(2+)-ATPase and the Mg(2+)-ATPase/Ca(2+)-ATPase ratio however increased together with a simultaneous depression of the membrane-bound acetylcholinesterase activity. We did not observe any differences in density properties of sarcotubular fractions between control and denervated muscle. However, a relative enrichment in SM and H fraction could be seen after denervation with small changes in the content of the Ca(2+)-pump protein, increased levels of calsequestrin and cholesterol, mostly in the heavy and the SM fraction. After denervation the binding sites for 3H-PN-200-110 did not show any changes in receptor affinity, but the number of putative Ca(2+)-channels increased twice along with a depression of 3H-ouabain binding sites. We suggest that the denervation of fast-twitch muscle leads to the hypertrophy of the junctional sarcoplasmic reticulum and the T-system. Changes in the cholesterol content, in the number of putative Ca(2+)-channels and in Na+, K(+)-ATPase can affect the muscle contraction.  相似文献

By using a series of aquaria which were more or less separated into two compartments by a "gate" made of plastic or glass strips, we studied how paradise fish changed their patterns of movement relative to the nature of the gates. We found that opaque plastic gates were well recognized by the paradise fish (Macropodus opercularis) even if the strips were very thin, but that they only changed their pattern of movement when the strips exceeded a certain width. Thus, paradise fish appear to be able to distinguish a physical space of the same size as consisting of either one or two compartments, depending on the material (transparency) and width of the dividing strips.  相似文献

Covalent ligation of multiple copies of ubiquitin to proteins is known to target intracellular proteins for degradation by large molecular weight cytosolic proteinase(s). Ubiquitin protein conjugates are found in cytosolic cell compartments suggesting that ubiquitination may have multiple roles. We have detected ubiquitinated proteins in the lysosomal apparatus of normal fibroblasts and fibroblasts treated with lysosomal proteinase inhibitors. In contrast rabbit reticulocytes lack lysosomes. We present here direct evidence for ubiquitination of mitochondrial proteins during rabbit reticulocyte maturation. In addition ubiquitination appears to be associated with the terminal differentiation of human keratinocytes. These results suggest that: 1. ubiquitin-protein conjugates may be degraded lysosomally 2. organellar proteins may be degraded by the ubiquitin system 3. ubiquitination is involved in the programmed elimination of proteins and organelles from several cell types during differentiation.  相似文献

The relationship of changes in membrane fluidity to natural killer susceptibility of K-562 target cells was investigated. Membrane rigidization was performed by the chemical modulator cholesteryl hemisuccinate. Steady-state fluorescence polarization measurements of the diphenyl hexatriene labelled, modified K-562 cells revealed that cholesteryl hemisuccinate increased the structural order of the hydrophobic region of membranes in a dose dependent way. Investigation of natural killer susceptibility followed by 51Cr release assay indicated that modified cells are less sensitive to natural killer attack. To elucidate whether surface structures such as transferrin and lectin receptors are associated with the altered susceptibility, the surface density of these receptors was followed by (I-125)-transferrin binding assay and quantitative immunofluorescence. We found that the number of transferrin and concanavalin A receptors increased by a factor of 2.44 and 2.00, respectively, whereas that of the wheat germ agglutinin receptor failed to exhibit any changes upon rigidization. From the results we concluded that i the membrane structural order does influence the natural killer susceptibility, ii changes in membrane structural order result in alteration of the number of cell surface transferrin and lectin receptors, iii however, no direct relationship seems to exist between these two events.  相似文献
