Clubroot disease affects all Brassicaceae spp. and is caused by the obligate biotroph pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae. The development of galls on the root system is associated with the establishment of a new carbon metabolic sink. Here, we aimed to deepen our knowledge of the involvement of primary metabolism in the Brassica napus response to clubroot infection. We studied the dynamics and the diversity of the metabolic responses to the infection. Root system metabotyping was carried out for 18 rapeseed genotypes displaying different degrees of symptom severity, under inoculated and noninoculated conditions at 42 days postinoculation (dpi). Clubroot susceptibility was positively correlated with clubroot-induced accumulation of several amino acids. Although glucose and fructose accumulated in some genotypes with minor symptoms, their levels were negatively correlated to the disease index across the whole set of genotypes. The dynamics of the metabolic response were studied for the susceptible genotype 'Yudal,' which allowed an "early" metabolic response (established from 14 to 28 dpi) to be differentiated from a "late" response (from 35 dpi). We discuss the early accumulation of amino acids in the context of the establishment of a nitrogen metabolic sink and the hypothetical biological role of the accumulation of glutathione and S-methylcysteine. 相似文献

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is present in many tissues; its presence in serum may be related to certain inflammatory conditions, tissue damage, sepsis, liver malfunction and some malignancies. In the present work, our goal was to investigate the significance of hyaluronic acid effect on erythrocyte flow properties. Therefore we performed in vitro experiments incubating red blood cells (RBCs) with several HA concentrations. The Okavango Delta depends on water quantity and quality to sustain its ecosystem services. Whereas many studies have been carried out on its hydrology, few have been done on water quality in the delta. Water pH, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), turbidity, total suspended solids (TSS) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) were monitored at 10 sites along the Okavango–Boro–Thamalakane–Lake Ngami system almost fortnightly from June 2008 to June 2010. Water quality in the delta was generally good, despite high evapotranspiration rates which would normally produce very saline waters. Electrical conductivity and water temperature increased with distance from Mohembo to Lake Ngami, the former most likely due to evapoconcentration. In contrast, pH, DO, turbidity and TSS decreased with distance from Mohembo to Boro at the lower end of the seasonal floodplain, before increasing again to Lake Ngami. Dissolved oxygen and TSS most likely declined due to biological uptake and particle sedimentation, respectively. Strong and significant relationships were observed between TSS and turbidity and between DOC and EC, indicating that turbidity and EC could be useful proxies for routine estimations of TSS and DOC, respectively, in the delta. 相似文献

The genus Ceratocystis sensu stricto includes important fungal pathogens of
woody and herbaceous plants. This genus is distinguished from species in
Ceratocystis sensu lato by the presence of Chalara anamorphs. Ascospore
shape has been used extensively in delineating Ceratocystis taxa, which
show a large variety of ascospore shapes. Sequence analysis of one region
of he 18S ribosomal RNA subunit and two regions of the 28S ribosomal RNA
subunit showed that there was a majority of multiple substitutions at
nucleotide sites and that there was a low transition/transversion ratio, T
= 0.72. Both of these results suggest that these are well established, old
species. Ascospore morphology, for the most part, was not congruent with
the molecular phylogeny, and the use of morphological characters may be
misleading in the taxonomy of these species.

Clubroot, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, is a damaging disease of Brassica napus. Genetic control and mapping of loci involved in high and partial quantitative resistance expressed against two single spore
isolates (Pb137–522 and K92–16) were studied in the F1 and DH progenies of the cross Darmor-bzh (resistant) x Yudal (susceptible). The high level of resistance expressed by Darmor-bzh to isolate Pb137–522 was found to be mainly due to a major gene, which we have named Pb-Bn1, located on linkage group (LG) DY4. Partial quantitative resistance showed by Darmor-bzh to the K92–16 isolate arose from the association of at least two additive QTLs detected on LGs DY4 and DY15; the QTL on DY4,
explaining 19% of the variance, was mapped at the same position as the major gene Pb-Bn1. Epistatic interactions between nine regions with or without additive effects were detected. The total phenotypic variation
accounted for by additive and epistatic QTLs ranged from 62% to 81% depending on the isolate. For one isolate, the relative
effect due to additivity was similar to that due to epistasis.
