The potential of an aquatic fern, Azolla filiculoides, in phytoremediation of a mono azo dye solution, C.I. Acid Blue 92 (AB92), was studied. The effects of operational parameters such as reaction time, initial dye concentration, fern fresh weight, pH, temperature and reusability of the fern on biodegradation efficiency were investigated. The intermediate compounds produced by biodegradation process were analyzed using GC–MS analysis. An artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the biodegradation efficiency. The findings indicated that ANN provides reasonable predictive performance (R2 = 0.961). The effects of AB92 solutions (10 and 20 mg L?1) on growth, chlorophylls and carotenoids content, activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, peroxidase and catalase and formation of malondialdehyde were analyzed. AB92 generally showed inhibitory effects on the growth. Moreover, photosynthetic pigments in the fronds significantly decreased in the treatments. An increase was detected for lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes activity, suggesting that AB92 caused reactive oxygen species production in Azolla fronds, which were scavenged by induced activities of antioxidant enzymes.  相似文献

Abstract

The principal goal of this study is to evaluate the interaction of Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH@L-Dopa and Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH nanoparticles with calf thymus DNA. The magnetic nanoparticles were previously prepared by a chemical co-precipitation method, and the surface of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles was coated with CaAl layered double hydroxides. The antiparkinsonian drug “L-Dopa” was carried by this core–shell nanostructure to achieve the drug delivery system with suitable properties for biological applications. Also, the interaction of Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH@L-Dopa and Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH nanoparticles with CT-DNA was studied using, UV–Visible spectroscopy, viscosity, circular dichroism (CD), and fluorescence spectroscopy techniques. The results of investigations demonstrated that Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH@L-Dopa and Fe3O4@CaAl-LDH nanoparticles have interacted via minor groove binding and intercalated to CT-DNA, respectively.  相似文献

Thein vitro inhibition of several rat testis dehydrogenases by gossyPol was examined. Inclusion of the coenzyme (substrate for NADP+-isocitrate dehydrogenase) in the Preincubation mixture containing the enzyme and gossyPol, Protected the enzymes against inhibition by gossyPol. Lactic dehydrogenase-X was amongst the least Protected enzymes. This, couPled with its lowK i for gossyPol makes it one of the most vulnerable target enzymesin vivo for gossyPol action. The inhibition kinetics for lactic dehydrogenase-X were comPetitive when NADH was Present during Preincubation, but non-comPetitive when the coenzyme was excluded during Preincubation. In the latter condition, the enzyme seems to undergo Progressive inactivation with time causing a nonreversible tyPe of inhibition.  相似文献

The pseudoscorpion Hysterochelifer afghanicus Beier, 1966 is redescribed and illustrated based on 21 specimens (13♂, 8♀) collected from different sites in northern, western, and southern Iran. A number of morphological characters and new provincial records are given. In addition, a key for 13 species of the pseudoscorpion genus Hysterochelifer Chamberlin, 1932 is proposed.  相似文献

Several bacterial species possess the ability to attach to surfaces and colonize them in the form of thin films called biofilms. Biofilms that grow in porous media are relevant to several industrial and environmental processes such as wastewater treatment and CO2 sequestration. We used Pseudomonas fluorescens, a Gram-negative aerobic bacterium, to investigate biofilm formation in a microfluidic device that mimics porous media. The microfluidic device consists of an array of micro-posts, which were fabricated using soft-lithography. Subsequently, biofilm formation in these devices with flow was investigated and we demonstrate the formation of filamentous biofilms known as streamers in our device. The detailed protocols for fabrication and assembly of microfluidic device are provided here along with the bacterial culture protocols. Detailed procedures for experimentation with the microfluidic device are also presented along with representative results.  相似文献

In this review, we discuss Nanotechnology models, which have been developed recently in cancer treatment. Nanotechnology manipulates matter at the atomic and molecular scale to create materials with new and advanced properties. Nano-biotechnology consists of the branches of nanotechnology that have been applied in biology (molecular and cellular genetics) and biotechnology. Nano-biotechnology allows us to put components and compounds into cells and build new materials using new methods like assembly. Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. Its therapeutic methods include chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, but the effects of these techniques are not only on tumor tissue and may affect healthy tissues. Nano-Biotech applications regarding cancer include drug delivery, treatment, and foresight therapy. This review article aims to obtain a proper mentality of the current technologies of Nano-biotechnology for cancer treatment.  相似文献
