For regulatory purposes, the name ‘Asian gypsy moth’ refers to a group of closely related Asian Lymantria species and subspecies whose female moths display flight capability, a trait believed to confer enhanced invasiveness relative to the European gypsy moth, Lymantria dispar dispar, whose females are flightless. Lymantria albescens and Lymantria postalba are Asian gypsy moths occurring in the southern Ryukyu Islands and in the northern Ryukyu and adjacent Kyushu and Shikoku Islands of Japan, respectively. Although once considered subspecies of L. dispar, their status as distinct species, relative to the latter, is now well established. While postalba was subsequently considered a subspecies of L. albescens, largely on the basis of differences in forewing ground colour in males, both taxa were later given distinct species status by Pogue & Schaefer (2007) following their revision of the genus Lymantria. Here, we re-examined the validity of this revised status through the sequencing of a large portion of the mitochondrial genome (c. 60%) and multiple nuclear marker genes [elongation factor 1-alpha (Ef-1α), wingless (Wgl), internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS-2), ribosomal protein S5 (RpS5)] in representative specimens of both taxa and other Lymantria species, including L. monacha, L. xylina, L. mathura and members of the L. dispar + L. umbrosa clade. A comparison of the number of substitutions in these genomic regions among the taxa we considered showed lower or equivalent variation between L. albescens and L. postalba compared with subspecies of L. dispar, for mitochondrial and nuclear sequences, respectively. This finding was reflected in the maximum likelihood trees generated independently for mitochondrial and nuclear data, where L. albescens and L. postalba formed, in both analyses, a short-branch sister clade basal to the L. dispar + L. umbrosa clade. We further sequenced three markers [cytochrome c oxydase 1 (COI), EF-1α, Wgl] in multiple L. albescens–L. postalba specimens collected along a south-to-north transect across the Ryukyu Arc and observed no clear distinction among the sampled specimens as a function of taxonomic designation. We conclude that L. albescens and L. postalba form a single species, with postalba representing a darker-winged morph along an apparent south-to-north wing colour cline. Venous and arterial thrombosis are conditions that have a considerable burden if left untreated. The hypoxia-induced by the occluded vessel can disrupt the circulation of any organ, the cornerstone of treating thrombosis is rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Diagnosis of thrombosis may be made by using laboratory tests or imaging techniques in individuals who have clinical manifestations of a thrombotic event. The use of serum micro ribonucleic acids (RNAs) has recently been applied to the diagnosis of thrombosis. These small RNA molecules are emerging as new diagnostic markers but have had very limited applications in vascular disease. Most of the articles provided various microRNAs with different levels of accuracy. However, there remains a lack of an appropriate panel of the most specific microRNA in the literature. The extracellular matrix of different mammalian tissues is commonly used as scaffolds in the field of tissue engineering. One of these tissues, which has frequently been studied due to its structural and biological features, is the small intestine submucosal membrane. These research are mainly done on the porcine small intestine. However, a report has recently been published about a scaffold produced from the submucosal layer of the ovine small intestine. In the present study, ovine small intestine submucosal (OSIS) was decellularized in a modified manner and its histological, morphological, and biomechanical properties were studied. Decellularization was performed in two phases: physical and chemical. In this method, a chloroform-methanol mixture, enzymatic digestion, and a constant dose of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was used in the least agitation time and its histological property and biocompatibility were evaluated in the presence of adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs); furthermore, ADSCs were isolated with a simple method (modified physical washing non-enzymatic isolation). The results were showed that the use of OSIS could be effective and operative. Mechanical properties, histological structure and shape, and glycosaminoglycan content were preserved. In the SDS-treated group, more than 90% of the native cells of tissue were deleted, and also in this group, no toxicity was observed and cell proliferation was supported, compared to the untreated group. Therefore, our results indicate that ADSCs seeded on OSIS scaffold could be used as a new approach in regenerative medicine as hybrid or hydrogel application. 相似文献

Despite many advances and optimization in colon cancer treatment, tumor recurrence and metastases make the development of new therapies necessary. Colon cancer stem cells (CCSCs) are considered as the main triggering factor of cancer progression, recurrence, and metastasis. CCSCs as a result of accumulated genetic and epigenetic alterations and also complex interconnection with the tumor microenvironment (TME) can evolve and convert to full malignant cells. Mounting evidence suggests that in cancer therapy both CCSCs and non-CCSCs in TME have to be regarded to break through the limitation of current therapies. In this regard, stem cell capabilities of some non-CCSCs may arise inside the TME condition. Therefore, a deep knowledge of regulatory mechanisms, heterogeneity, specific markers, and signaling pathways of CCSCs and their interconnection with TME components is needed to improve the treatment of colorectal cancer and the patient's life quality. In this review, we address current different targeted therapeutic options that target cell surface markers and signaling pathways of CCSCs and other components of TME. Current challenges and future perspectives of colon cancer personalized therapy are also provided here. Taken together, based on the deep understanding of biology of CCSCs and using three-dimensional culture technologies, it can be possible to reach successful colon cancer eradication and improvise combination targeted therapies against CCSCs and TME. 相似文献

Salinity is a major yield-reducing factor in coastal and arid irrigated rice production systems. Rice seedlings (Oryza sativa cv. Tarom Atri) were exposed to different NaCl concentrations for 8 days after germination. Plants height, fresh and dry weight, relative water content, pigment and carbohydrate content, photosynthetic efficiency and lipid peroxidase and antioxidant enzyme activity of rice seedlings grown under salt stress were investigated. Seedling grown under 25and 50 mM salt were shorter than the control. They could, however, develop their secondary leaves. Seedlings grown in the nutrient solution supplied with 100 and 200 mM extra salt could not develop their secondary leaves. Fresh weight ofseedlings grown under salt stress reduced up to 42.2% of the non-treated seedlings. Chlorophylls and carotenoids contents decreased significantly in the salt-treated seedlings. Carotenoid contents in NaCl-treated seedlings were decreased to 39.3%. No significant changes occurred in the photochemical efficiency of control and stressed plants. Increasing concentrations of NaCl resulted in increase and decrease of Na+ and K+ ions, respectively. NaCl salinity caused an increase in both peroxide content and lipid peroxidation. Seedlings which recovered for 24 h showed lower peroxide and malondialdehyde content. 相似文献

Effects on development, longevity, fecundity and predation of the predatory phytoseiid mite Typhlodromus mangiferus Zaher and El-Brolossy were studied in the laboratory at different temperatures and relative humidities using four prey mite species: the motile stages of the eriophyid mango bud mite Aceria mangiferae Sayed, the eriophyid leaf coating and webbing mite Cisaberoptus kenyae Keifer, the eriophyid mango rust mite Metaculus mangiferae (Attiah) and nymphs of the tetranychid mango red mite Oligonychus mangiferus (Rahman and Sabra). The increase of different temperatures and decrease of relative humidities from 25°C and 60% to 30°C and 55% and 35°C and 50% shortened development and increased reproduction and prey consumption. The developmental durations were almost similar when the predator was fed on eriophyids compared to that on tetranychid. The maximum reproduction (2.70, 2.08, 1.97 and 1.66 eggs/ ♀ /day) was recorded at the highest temperature and the lowest relative humidity, while the minimum reproduction (1.7, 1.54, 1.53, and 1.06 eggs/ ♀ /day) was noted at the lowest temperature and highest relative humidity with all mango prey species. Life table parameters indicated that feeding of T. mangiferus on A. mangiferae led to the highest reproduction rate (rm = 0.204 and 0.139 females/female/day), while feeding on O. mangiferus gave the lowest reproduction rate (rm = 0.137 and 0.116) at 35°C and 50% relative humidity and 25°C and 60% relative humidity, respectively. T. mangiferus seems to be a voracious predator of both mango eriophyid and tetranychid mites. The adult female daily consumed about 127 A. mangiferae, 97 C. kenyae, 86 M. mangiferae, and 18 O. mangiferus at 35°C and 50% relative humidity, while it devoured only 99.81, 86, 81, and 15 individuals, respectively at 25°C and 60% relative humidity. In this study, Torulaspora delbrueckii alone and in combination with silicon were evaluated for the control of apple blue mould disease caused by Penicillium expansum. In vitro, the antagonistic effects of T. delbrueckii in controlling mycelial growth of P. expansum on potato-dextrose-agar (PDA) in dual cultures, and the growth of P. expansum alone with cell-free metabolites and volatile components of T. delbrueckii were assayed. In vitro, to evaluate the direct effect of silicon on mycelial growth of pathogen, silicon at different concentrations (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 1 and 2% (wt./vol.)) was added to PDA medium. Silicon at 0.6% (wt./vol.) and above concentrations completely inhibited the mycelial growth of P. expansum. However, it had no significant effect on population dynamics of yeast in vitro and in apple wounds. In vivo, silicon at 0.2 and 1% (wt./vol.) in combination with antagonistic yeast (1 × 108 cell/ml) was a more effective approach to reduce the lesion diameter of blue mould decay of apples than the application of silicon or T. delbrueckii alone at 20 and 4°C, respectively. 相似文献
