The organization of the peripheral vascular apparatus in two haplotaxids has been studied and compared with that of other microdriles. Considerable differences in the circulatory systems of Pelodrilus leruthi and Haplotaxis gordioides, especially in relationships to the body wall muscle fibers, separate and distinguish the two animals. Different organizations of the peripheral apparatus that can be observed in these microdriles are: in the first species, capillary vessels have no contact with the body wall; in the second species, capillaries extend between the longitudinal muscle fibers until they reach the body surface, thus approaching the situation in megadriles where circulation can become intraepithelial.Generally, vessels hanging in the coelom are of a large diameter. When a capillary network related to the body wall muscle develops, vessels are small in diameter and their walls have variable numbers of contractile elements, ensuring the forced circulation of the blood. 相似文献

SCNT technology has been successfully used to clone a variety of mammals, but the cloning efficiency is very low. This low efficiency is likely due to the incomplete reprogramming of SCNT embryos. Histone modification and DNA methylation may participate in these events. Thus, it would be interesting to attempt to improve the efficiency of SCNT by using a HDACi VPA. In order to guarantee the effect of VPA and reduce its cytotoxicity, a comprehensive analysis of the cell proliferation and histone modification was performed. The results showed that 0.5 and 1 mM VPA treatment for 24 h were the optimal condition. According to the results, H3K4me3 was increased in 0.5 and 1 mM VPA groups, whereas H3K9me2 was significantly decreased. These are the signals of gene-activation. In addition, VPA treatment led to the overexpression of Oct4 and Nanog. These indicated that VPA-treated cells had similar patterns of histone to zygotic embryos, and may be more favorable for reprograming. A total of 833 cloned embryos were produced from the experimental replicates of VPA-treated donor cells. In 1 mM treatment group, the blastocyst rates were significantly increased compared with control. At the same time, our findings demonstrated the interrelation between DNA methylation and histone modifications. 相似文献

The macrocrustacean fauna from an alluvial aquifer in the French Pyrénées was investigated using 15 wells scattered over the floodplain. Wells were sampled at three contrasting periods for faunal, phy‐sical and chemical variables to investigate relationships between amphipod, isopod distributions and environmental factors. The assemblages, dominated by stygobite amphipod species, showed an overall persistence between the sampling dates. Groundwater quality exhibited between‐site variations related to agriculturally‐induced pollution. Low correlations existed between water quality and fauna distribution patterns. At the scale of the aquifer, groundwater contamination did not influence the macrocrustacean distribution. The spatial distribution of amphipods and isopods was clearly related to hydrogeology and hydrodynamics: strong relationships were found between the assemblages composition and the hydrological context of the stations (wells from the alluvial plain and from the alluvial terrace). With respect to spatial and temporal scales and providing adequate sampling methods, macrocrustaceans then constitute natural indicators of groundwater hydrodynamics in the Ariège aquifer. 相似文献

We have analyzed the effects of Toxoneuron nigriceps parasitization on the midgut development of its host Heliothis virescens. In parasitized H. virescens larvae, the midgut epithelium undergoes a complete replacement, which is qualitatively not different to that observed in
synchronous unparasitized larvae, with similar temporal profiles of cell death and metabolic activity. However, the whole
gut replacement process is significantly delayed in parasitized larvae, with complete differentiation of the new gut epithelium
being observed 4 days later than in unparasitized controls. The administration of juvenile hormone before commitment and of
20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) after commitment delays and fosters, respectively, the replacement process of the midgut epithelium;
moreover, the injection of 20E into developmentally arrested and 20E-deficient host last-instar larvae parasitized by T. nigriceps immediately triggers regular gut development. These hormone-based experiments suggest that endocrine alterations in the larval
host, induced by T. nigriceps parasitism, are responsible for the temporal alterations in the gut replacement process. The role of this parasitoid-induced
developmental change in the host regulation process is discussed.

Following oxidative stress, modifications of several biologically important macromolecules have been demonstrated. In this study we investigated the effect of a natural extract from Mangifera indica L (Vimang), its main ingredient mangiferin and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) on energy metabolism, energy state and malondialdehyde (MDA) production in a red blood cell system. Analysis of MDA, high energy phosphates and ascorbate was carried out by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Under the experimental conditions, concentrations of MDA and ATP catabolites were affected in a dose-dependent way by H2O2. Incubation with Vimang (0.1, 1, 10, 50 and 100 μg/mL), mangiferin (1, 10, 100 μg/mL) and EGCG (0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 μM) significantly enhances erythrocyte resistance to H2O2-induced reactive oxygen species production. In particular, we demonstrate the protective activity of these compounds on ATP, GTP and total nucleotides (NT) depletion after H2O2-induced damage and a reduction of NAD and ADP, which both increase because of the energy consumption following H2O2 addition. Energy charge potential, decreased in H2O2-treated erythrocytes, was also restored in a dose-dependent way by these substances. Zoonoses represent a global public health threat. Understanding lay perceptions of risk associated with these diseases can better inform proportionate policy interventions that mitigate their current and future impacts. While individual zoonoses (e.g. bovine spongiform encephalopathy) have received scientific and public attention, we know little about how multiple zoonotic diseases vary relative to each other in lay risk perceptions. To this end, we examined public perceptions of 11 zoonoses across 12 qualitative attributes of risk among the UK public (n = 727, volunteer sample), using an online survey. We found that attribute ratings were predominantly explained via two basic dimensions of risk related to public knowledge and dread. We also show that, despite participants reporting low familiarity with most of the diseases presented, zoonoses were perceived as essentially avoidable. These findings imply that infection is viewed as dependent upon actions under personal control which has significant implications for policy development. 相似文献

A new weather factor predicting airborne pollen concentration: Péczely’s macrosynoptic weather types
In the present study determinative factors for ragweed (Ambrosia elatior) pollination were studied in Budapest between 1991 and 1996. The aim was to create a model to predict the day-to-day pollen
count variation. The pollen concentration is determined mostly by the potential concentration and the mean concentration of
the three previous days. These two variables can explain 56% of the total variance. Daily mean and maximum temperature, daily
temperature fluctuation and the number of hours of sunshine in the previous day have a significant positive effect on the
pollen count. The amount of precipitation on the previous day, relative humidity on the actual and on the previous day influence
it negatively. When a cyclone prevails, pollen concentration is usually lower than the seasonal average. Some anticyclonal
situations have a similar effect, while other anticyclonal types promote pollination. A predictive model was then created
by multiple regression using the potential concentration, the mean concentration of the three previous days, the daily temperature
fluctuation and the synoptic type as independent variables. This model can explain more than 68% of the total variance, and
its accuracy is >71%. The model seems to predict accurately the trends during the pollen seasons, thus it will probably be
a good tool in the practical prediction in Budapest, and the methodology will hopefully be applicable to other sites of the

We have measured the rates of insertion into, desorption from, and spontaneous interlayer translocation (flip-flop) in liquid-disordered and liquid-ordered phase lipid bilayer membranes, of the fluorescent phospholipid derivative NBD-dimyristoylphosphatidyl ethanolamine. This study made use of a recently described method that exploits a detailed knowledge of the binding kinetics of an amphiphile to bovine serum albumin, to recover the insertion and desorption rate constants when the albumin-bound amphiphile is transferred through the aqueous phase to the membrane and vice versa. The lipid bilayers, studied as large unilamellar vesicles, were prepared from pure 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoylphosphatidylcholine in the liquid-disordered phase; and from two cholesterol-containing binary lipid mixtures, 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoylphosphatidylcholine and cholesterol (molar ratio of 1:1), and egg sphingomyelin and cholesterol (molar ratio of 6:4), both in the liquid-ordered phase. Insertion, desorption, and translocation rate constants and equilibrium constants for association of the amphiphile monomer with the lipid bilayers were directly measured between 15 degrees and 35 degrees C, and the standard free energies, enthalpies, and entropies, as well as the activation energies for these processes, were derived from this data. The equilibrium partition coefficients for partitioning of the amphiphile between the aqueous phase and the different membrane phases were also derived, and permitted the estimation of hypothetical partition coefficients and the respective energetic parameters for partitioning between the different lipid phases if these were to coexist in the same membrane. 相似文献
