Twelve polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized from the threatened toad lily Tricyrtis flava. The number of alleles ranged from three to 17, and the observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.35 to 0.96 and from 0.50 to 0.93, respectively, in a population of T. flava. We also tested cross‐species amplifications of the markers in three other species of Trycyrtis sect. Flavae. Most of 12 markers developed for T. flava were successfully amplified in the species of sect. Flavae and will be useful for population genetic studies of these species.  相似文献

The pattern for primary products of CO2-fixation and the chloroplaststructure of Amaranthus retrqflexus L., a species which incorporatescarbon dioxide into C4 dicarboxylic acids as the primary productof photosynthesis, were compared in various chlorophyll containingtissues,i.e., foliage leaves, stems, cotyledons and pale-greencallus induced from stem pith. Despite some morphological differencesin these assimilatory tissues, malate and aspartate were identifiedas the major compounds labelled during a 10 sec fixation of14CO2 in all tissues. Whereas, aspartate was the major componentin C4-dicarboxylic acids formed in foliage leaves, malate predominatedas the primary product in stems, cotyledons and the pale-greencallus. The effects of temperature on the aerial tuber initiation ofBegonia evansiana Andr. in response to short-day condition wereinvestigated. Tuberization was inhibited by relatively low and high temperaturesduring the dark periods. The optimal nycto-temperature was 23°and hardly changed by not only photo-temperature but also daylength.There were two temperature-sensitive phases in the dark period;one came at its beginning, and the other later one came at varioustimes depending on the length of the light period. Low temperatureswere effective at both of these sensitive phases, but high temperatureshad an influence only at the later one. Photo-temperatures exerted little influence on tuberizationunder the sub-optimal daylength, but the lower temperatureswere promotive under longer daylengths. (Received August 2, 1963; )  相似文献

The sea lavender, Limonium wrightii , has six morphs of flower colour variation. The geographical distribution of flower colour morphs is disjunct; the distribution of the pink flower morph is divided into two subregions, and that of the yellow flower morph intervenes between them. The present study aimed to examine the origin of this apparent distribution pattern of flower colour in L. wrightii . Two main hypotheses (i.e. past dispersal events and phenotypic changes by natural selection and/or stochastic processes) have been proposed to account for the origin of leapfrog distribution patterns. To determine which hypothesis was applicable, we conducted a molecular phylogenetic analysis using sequence variation in chloroplast DNA (three regions of intergenic spacers, trnG - trnfM , trnV - trnM , and psbA-trnH ). We sequenced 58 accessions of L. wrightii frin 28 islands in the Ryukyu Archipelago and the Izu-Ogasawara Islands, located south of the Japanese mainland, and 12 accessions of four congeneric species. Within L. wrightii , we obtained four lineages of ten haplotypes. These lineages and haplotypes did not correlate with the different flower colours. These results indicate that the formation processes of populations are complex. The haplotypes of the pink flower morph did not show a sister relationship between the two disjunct subregions, indicating that the disjunct populations of the pink flower morphs are unlikely to share the pink flower colour as a result of common ancestry.   1. Seed germination of Begonia Evansiana ANDR. was investigatedat 29?C.
  2. The germination was induced under long-day conditions,the criticaldaylength being about 8 hours. Exposure to at least2 or 3 cyclesof long days was necessary for germination. Theseeds couldgerminate under otherwise non-inductive photoperiods,when thedark period was interrupted with a short period ofillumination.Thus the photoperiodic behaviour of Begonia seedsin germinationis similar to that of typical long-day plantsin flowering.

The application of gibberellin brought aboutno germinationin complete darkness, but markedly reduced thecritical daylengthfor germination, even 1-minute photoperiodsbeing inductive.The germination under continuous light wasalso favoured bygibberellin application. The action of gibberellinin germinationof Begonia seeds may be to intensify the lightaction or tosubstitute for a part of it.

AS part of a programme concerned with the quality of RNA synthesized during behaviour we have carried out an experiment to detect the synthesis of qualitatively unique species of RNA during visual stimulation. Two litters of male Wistar rats were housed in a dimly lit room from 40 days of age. At 100 days four members of each litter were injected intracran-ially with 1 mCi of 5-3H-uridine and after 30 min were subjected to 90 min of visual stimulation (experimental subjects), while other rats of each litter were restrained in darkness (control subjects).  相似文献

A dynamic model for growth and mortality of individual plantsin a stand was developed, based on the process of canopy photosynthesis,and assuming an allometric relationship between plant heightand weight, i.e. allocation growth pattern of plant height andstem diameter. Functions G(t, x), for the mean growth rate ofindividuals of size x at time t, and M(t,x), for the mortalityrate of individuals of size x at time t, were developed fromthis model and used in simulations. The dynamics of size structurewere simulated, combining the continuity equation model, a simpleversion of the diffusion model, with these functions. Simulationsreproduced several well-documented phenomena: (1) size variabilityin terms of coefficient of variation and skewness of plant weightincreases at first with stand development and then stabilisesor decreases with an onset of intensive self-thinning; (2) duringthe course of self-thinning, there is a power relationship betweendensity and biomass per unit ground area, irrespective of theinitial density and of the allocation-growth pattern in termsof the allometric parameter relating plant height and weight.The following were further shown by simulation: (a) competitionbetween individuals in a crowded stand is never completely one-sidedbut always asymmetrically two-sided, even though competitionis only for light; (b) plants of ‘height-growth’type exhibit a greater asymmetry in competition than plantsof ‘diameter-growth’ type, (c) the effect of competitionon the growth of individuals in a crowded stand converges toa stationary state, even when the stand structure still changesgreatly. All of these theoretical results can explain recentempirical results obtained from several natural plant communities.Finally, a new, general functional form for G(t, x) in a crowdedstand is proposed based on these theoretical results, insteadof a priori or empirical growth and competition functions. Abstract Enzyme-electrophoretic variation was examined in sporophytes of Woodwardia japonica (2n= 68) and segregation was examined in gametophytes. Despite the high chromosome number, W. japonica displayed disomic segregation of isoenzyme patterns. This and karyotype analyses indicate that W. japonica is a diploid derived from a base number of either x= 17 or x= 34.  相似文献

Some glycosidases in light-grown cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. Aonaga-jibae) hypocotyl sections were examined with respect to their localization and relation to endogenous and IAA-induced growth. Frozen-thawed sections were used directly for measurement of enzyme activities, and β-glucosidase, α- and β-galactosidases and β-xylosidase were assayed by using p- or o-nitro-phenylglycopyranosides as substrates. The order of the activity of these enzymes were β -glucosidase > β -galactosidase =α-galactosidase > β-xylosidase. No activity of α-glucosidase was detected. High glycosidase activities were found in the youngest region of the hypocotyl, where the endogenous growth rate was highest. However, there was no significant difference in the activities of this region between seedlings at different growth stages. Among the enzymes tested, β -glucosidase showed a high correlation with the endogenous growth rate. β-glucosidase was found to be mostly associated with the cell wall fraction, while β-galactosidase was rather found in the soluble fraction of the cell. Separation of the epidermis from the section showed that a very high activity of β-glucosidase was associated with the epidermis. In both whole sections and isolated cell wall fractions, IAA was shown to have no effect on the activities of β-glucosidase and β-galactosidase.  相似文献
