Aphidiine and aphelinid parasitoids collected from the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines, on Glycine max in Japan and Indonesia (Java and Bali) were identified to clarify the parasitoid spectrum of the aphid there. Nine parasitoid species from Japan (Aphidiinae: Aphidius gifuensis, Aphidius sp., Binodoxys communis, Diaeretiella rapae, Lipolexis gracilis, Lysiphlebia japonica; Aphelinidae: Aphelinus asychis, A. gossypii, A. varipes) and two parasitoid species from Indonesia (B. communis, A. gossypii) were found to be associated with A. glycines.  相似文献

An antitropical distribution represents an intriguing disjunction, in which a given species or sister lineages occupy regions north and south of the tropics but are absent from the intervening areas. Solenogyne mikadoi endemic to the Ryukyu Archipelago is regarded as an Australian element. Testing the phylogenetic relationship with Australian congeners and discussing the onset timing and causes of the disjunction would potentially enhance the understanding of antitropical distribution. A nuclear ribosomal DNA phylogeny was reconstructed using Bayesian and most parsimonious criteria with allied genera. Solenogyne was monophyletic and clustered with Lagenophora huegelii endemic to Australia, indicating the antitropical distribution and Australian origin of Solenogyne. Multispecies coalescent analysis based on nuclear ribosomal DNA and chloroplast DNA indicated the divergence of S. mikadoi and Australian congeners in the Plio‐Pleistocene. Phylogenetic network analyses suggested that the ancestral lineage of S. mikadoi first colonized the southernmost island in the archipelago and then dispersed northward. The migration to the archipelago likely followed the flourishing of Solenogyne in open vegetation communities that radiated in south‐eastern Australia during the late Pliocene. This disjunction might arise through long‐distance dispersal across the tropics or, alternatively, through extinction in the tropics as a result of unsuitably high temperatures during climate oscillation and/or competitions from diverse tropical flora surviving since the early Tertiary. © 2011 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 105 , 197–217.  相似文献

The effects of temperature on the development and survival of Lycaeides argyrognomon were examined in the laboratory. The eggs, larvae and pupae were reared at temperatures of 15, 17.5, 20, 25, 30 and 33°C under a long‐day photoperiod of 16‐h light and 8‐h darkness. The survival rates of the first–third instars ranged from 40.0 to 82.4%. The mortalities of the fourth instar were lower than those of the first–third instars. The development time of the overall immature stage decreased from 78.33 days at 15°C to 21.07 days at 30°C, and then increased to 24.33 days at 33°C. The common linear model and the Ikemoto–Takai model were used to estimate the thermal constant (K) and the developmental zero (T0). The values of T0 and K for the overall immature stages were 10.50°C and 418.83 degree‐days, and 9.71°C and 451.68 degree‐days by the common model and the Ikemoto–Takai model, respectively. The upper temperature thresholds (Tmax) and the optimal temperatures (Topt) of the egg, the first–third instars and the overall immature stages were estimated by the three nonlinear models. The ranges of Topt estimated were from 30.33°C to 32.46°C in the overall immature stages and the estimates of Tmax of the overall immature stages by the Briere‐1 and the Briere‐2 models were 37.18°C and 33.00°C, respectively. The method to predict the developmental period of L. argyrognomon using the nonlinear models was discussed based on the data of the average temperature per hour.  相似文献

1. Animals exploiting different resources may nevertheless interact if one species indirectly alters the abundance and distribution of the food of the other. To analyse this indirect effect, we conducted experiments in artificial pools and in the field to investigate the influence of the algivorous fish Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis (known as the ayu) on two species of insectivorous benthic fish, Pseudogobio esocinus esocinus and the goby Gymnogobius petschiliensis .
2. In the pool experiments, algal biomass was not correlated with the number of ayu, but the percentage of blue-green bacteria rose as the number increased. The number of aquatic macroinvertebrates on the upper surface of ceramic tiles placed in the pool bed decreased as the number of ayu increased.
3. Although ayu and the benthic species did not interact directly, the reduction in invertebrate abundance on the upper surface of tiles in the pool reduced the growth rate of the benthic insectivores.
4. In field experiments, the introduction of ayu into habitats with P. esocinus esocinus or G. petschiliensis reduced the growth rate of these benthic fish. In the field experiment that was carried out over 5 years in the G. petschiliensis habitat, the population density of the goby decreased when ayu were stocked.
5. The ayu is a strong interactor or bioengineer in streams, affecting not only benthic algae but also aquatic invertebrates and fishes. We conclude that to predict the outcome of interspecific interactions amongst fishes in streams with high algal production, possible indirect effects must be considered alongside better known direct effects.  相似文献

We studied the species composition and life history patterns of shelter‐building microlepidoptera on the willow Salix miyabeana in Hokkaido, northern Japan. We identified 23 microlepidopteran species across seven families that constructed leaf shelters. Species in Tortricidae and Pyralidae comprised approximately 90% of the total number of sampled shelter‐building microlepidoptera that reached adult eclosion in the laboratory. Seasonal changes in the density of leaf shelters showed two peaks: early June and mid‐August. In June, caterpillars of Gypsonoma bifasciata, Gypsonoma ephoropa, Acleris issikii and Saliciphage acharis were the principal shelter builders, while in August shelters were constructed primarily by caterpillars of Nephopterix adelphella, A. issikii and S. acharis. Approximately 90% of leaf shelters were constructed on the top portions of shoots, suggesting that most shelter‐building caterpillars prefer to build leaf shelters here.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. The Gram-negative bacterium Holospora obrusa is a macronucleus-specific symbiont of the ciliate Paramecium caudatum. The infectious form of this bacterium infects the host macronucleus through digestive vacuoles and differentiates into the reproductive form two days after the infection in the nucleus. The monoclonal antibodies IF-3–1 and IF-3–2 reacted with 39 and 1S kDa periplasmic proteins, respectively, that were specific for the infectious form of H. obrusa. Because the antigens were not detected in the reproductive form of the bacterium, it appears that expression of the proteins decreases during or soon after the infection. Using these antibodies, quantitative changes in the antigens in the early infection process were examined by immunoblotting and immunogold electron microscopy. Immunoblotting showed that the amounts of both antigens were reduced within 1 h after the bacteria were engulfed into the digestive vacuoles of the paramecia, but that the amounts of IF-3–2 antigens declined earlier than the IF-3–1 antigen. Immunogold labeling showed that the level of IF-3–2 antigens became very low in the bacteria in the host digestive vacuoles, whereas there was no similar decrease in amount of IF-3–1 antigens. Possible functions of the antigens are discussed. The IF-3–1 antigens decrease in concentration in parallel with the decrease in the periplasmic region.  相似文献
