Beginning in 1950, people living on the banks of the Techa River received chronic low-dose-rate internal and external radiation exposures as a result of releases from the Mayak nuclear weapons plutonium production facility in the Southern Urals region of the Russian Federation. The Techa River cohort includes about 30,000 people who resided in riverside villages sometime between 1950 and 1960. Cumulative red bone marrow doses range up to 2 Gy with a mean of 0.3 Gy and a median of 0.2 Gy. Between 1953 and 2005, 93 first primary cases of leukemia, including 23 cases of chronic lymphatic leukemia (CLL), were ascertained among the cohort members. A significant linear dose–response relationship was seen for leukemias other than CLL (P < 0.001), but not for CLL. The estimated excess relative risk per Gy is 4.9 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.6; 14.3) for leukemias other than CLL and less than 0 (95% upper bound 1.4) for CLL.  相似文献

The present work is an overview of the factors regulating permeability of the outer membrane of mitochondria and the state of the channels formed by porin (voltage-dependent anion channels, VDAC). According to the accumulated data, modulation of the outer membrane permeability can be induced by endogenous phosphorylation of VDAC channels. Different protein kinases, such as protein kinase A, protein kinase C, tyrosine protein kinase, hexokinase, glycogen synthetase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), Akt and p38 kinases, were shown to be involved in VDAC phosphorylation. Among these protein kinases, alcohol-induced stress-kinases, GSK-3β, Akt, and p38 identified in mitochondria may participate in phosphorylation of porin, modulation of VDAC conductance, and regulation of the outer membrane permeability.  相似文献

Animal evolution during domestication: the domesticated fox as a model   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We review the evolution of domestic animals, emphasizing the effect of the earliest steps of domestication on its course. Using the first domesticated species, the dog (Canis familiaris), for illustration, we describe the evolutionary peculiarities during the historical domestication, such as the high level and wide range of diversity. We suggest that the process of earliest domestication via unconscious and later conscious selection of human‐defined behavioral traits may accelerate phenotypic variations. The review is based on the results of a long‐term experiment designed to reproduce early mammalian domestication in the silver fox (Vulpes vulpes) selected for tameability or amenability to domestication. We describe changes in behavior, morphology and physiology that appeared in the fox during its selection for tameability, which were similar to those observed in the domestic dog. Based on the data of the fox experiment and survey of relevant data, we discuss the developmental, genetic and possible molecular genetic mechanisms underlying these changes. We ascribe the causative role in evolutionary transformation of domestic animals to the selection for behavior and to the neurospecific regulatory genes it affects.  相似文献

This paper comments recent findings about Raman spectroscopy application for in vivo noninvasive diabetes detection, published in the Journal of Biophotonics by E. Guevara et al. (J. Biophotonics 2022 , 15, e202200055). The proposed results may be not entirely correct due to possible overestimation of classification models and absence of additional information regarding age of tested volunteers.  相似文献

The neural network underlying rhythmic wing movements in the molluscClione limacina is well-studied. Two different groups of motoneurons innervate two distinct groups of wing muscles. The locomotor rhythm generated in the left and right pedal ganglia is synchronized by interneurons. When the axons of the locomotor motoneurons are crushed, numerous fine neurites sprout towards the denervated muscles and reach them in 8–15 days. At this stage motoneurons project to and synapse on not only correct but equally incorrect muscle targets. After 2 weeks of regeneration the number of incorrect neurites and synaptic connections begins to decrease and following 1.5–2 months all incorrect connections are eliminated, incorrect axons are withdrawn and the behavioral deficit is compensated. In this study the regeneration of interneurons and the growth profiles of inter- and motoneurons were also studiedin vitro. Two individually isolated pedal ganglia were co-cultured in three different configurations: a) the wing nerve stump from one ganglion was fixed against the commissural stump from another ganglion; b) the wing nerve stumps were fixed against each other; c) the commissural stumps were fixed against each other. Under the above experimental conditions we found that the interneurons were able to cross only the contact between two commissural stumps, and in this case found their original targets, restored correct connections and synchronized the rhythm in two pedal ganglia. In contrast, motoneurons were able to cross all types of contacts.  相似文献
