Acetaldehyde production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae wine yeasts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Abstract Eighty-six strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were investigated for their ability to produce acetaldehyde in synthetic medium and in grape must. Acetaldehyde production did not differ significantly between the two media, ranging from a few mg/l to about 60 mg/l, and was found to be a strain characteristic. The fermentation temperature of 30°C considerably increased the acetaldehyde produced. This study allowed us to assign the strains to different phenotypes: low, medium and high acetaldehyde producers. The low and high phenotypes differed considerably also in the production of acetic acid, acetoin and higher alcohols and can be useful for studying acetaldehyde production in S. cerevisiae , both from the technological and genetic point of view.  相似文献

In this work we report the optical absorption spectra of three cobalt-substituted derivatives of hemocyanin (He) from Carcinus maenas, in the temperature range 300–20 K. The derivatives studied are the mononuclear (Co2+)-He with a single cobalt ion in the CuA site, the binuclear (Co2+)2-He and the binuclear mixed metal (Co2+-Cu1+)-He. At low temperature three main bands are clearly resolved; the temperature dependence of their zeroth, first and second moments sheds light on the stereodynamic properties in the surroundings of the chromophore. Within the limits of the reported analysis, in the binuclear derivatives the motions coupled to the chromophore appear to be essentially harmonic in the whole temperature range investigated; moreover the data are consistent with the presence of an exogenous ligand strongly bound to the two metal ions. The phytogeography of the genus Allium in Siberia and Mongolia is described, based on the numerical classification of a matrix of 56 species and 769 Operational Geographic Uniis (OGUs). Two main diversity centers can be detected, the Altai-Tuva region and southeastern Siberia, which can be further subdivided into 4 subcenters: Altai Mts., Tuva Mts., southern Baikal and Dahuria. The first three subcenters. located in southern Siberia, are rich in endemic species, which are mostly bound to semi-arid environments such as montane steppes and alpine vegetation. These old, isolated mountain ranges constitute the main refugial centers for the Allium flora of Siberia and Mongolia. The Tuva subcenter, rich in endemics and poor in polyploid species, seems to be the most conservative area; the south Baikal region, much richer in polyploid species, appears as an important center af speciation.  相似文献

A tRNAVal (GAC) gene is located in opposite orientation 552 nucleotides (nt) down-stream of the cytochrome oxidase subunit III (coxIII) gene in sunflower mitochondria. The comparison with the homologous chloroplast DNA revealed that the tRNAVal gene is part of a 417 nucleotides DNA insertion of chloroplast origin in the mitochondrial genome. No tRNAVal is encoded in monocot mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), whereas two tRNAVal species are coded for by potato mtDNA. The mitochondrial genomes of different plant species thus seem to encode unique sets of tRNAs and must thus be competent in importing the missing differing sets of tRNAs.  相似文献

Rhodamine phalloidin-staining was used to study the organization of the cortical actin cytoskeleton of the early Ceratitis capitata embryo. The dynamics of the actin aggregates and their changes in distribution during the formation of the syncytial blastoderm, were followed in detail. It was found that these aggregates formed a shell-like cluster around the interphase nuclei, and concentrated toward the poles of the mitotic apparatus when the nuclei divided. Laser scanning confocal microscopy revealed that aggregates not clustered at the poles of the mitotic apparatus were closely associated with fine fibers of a dense cytoplasmic network of actin filaments.  相似文献

Nucleoside phosphotransferase acting on inosine and deoxyinosine has been partially purified from cultured Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts (V79). The activity is associated with a cytosolic 5′-nucleotidase acting on IMP and deoxyIMP. The transfer of the phosphate group from IMP to inosine catalyzed by this enzyme was activated by ATP and 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate. Inosine, deoxyinosine, guanosine, deoxyguanosine, and the nucleoside analogs 2′,3′-dideoxyinosine and 8-azaguanosine are substrates, while adenosine and deoxyadenosine are not. IMP, deoxyIMP, GMP, and deoxyGMP are the best phosphate donors. The cytosolic 5′-nucleotidase/phosphotransferase substrate, 8-azaguanosine, was found to be very toxic for cultured fibroblasts (LD50 = 0.32 μM). Mutants resistant to either 8-azaguanosine and the correspondent base 8-azaguanine were isolated and characterized. Our results indicated that the 8-azaguanosine-resistant cells were lacking both cytosolic 5′-nucleotidase and hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase, while 8-azaguanine resistant cells were lacking only the latter enzyme. Despite this observation, both mutants displayed 8-azaguanosine resistance, thus indicating that cytosolic 5′-nucleotidase is not essential for the activation of this nucleoside analog.  相似文献

Gas chromatographic analysis by direct injection of samples yielded quantitative data on acetoin content. Ninety-six strains of Hanseniaspora guilliermondii and Kloeckera apiculata were investigated for the ability to produce acetoin in synthetic medium and in must. High-level production of acetoin was found to be a characteristic of both species. In synthetic medium, the two species were not significantly different with respect to sugar utilization and ethanol or acetoin production. In grape must, the two species were significantly different (P = 0.001) in acetoin production and K. apiculata exhibited a significantly negative correlation between acetoin production and either sugar consumption or ethanol production. Use of selected apiculate yeasts in mixed cultures with Saccharomyces cerevisiae seems promising for optimization of wine bouquet.  相似文献

After lentectomy of larval Xenopus laevis , the outer cornea undergoes tissue transformation resulting in formation of a new lens. This lens regeneration is triggered and sustained by neural retina. In the present study, lens-forming transformation of the outer cornea was completed in vitro when the outer cornea was cultured within the lentectomized eye-cup. Well-differentiated lens fiber cells, which showed positive immunofluorescence for total crystallins, were also formed when the outer cornea was cultivated with the retina. No lens tissue was formed when the cornea was cultured alone. Lens-forming transformation, originating from the cornea three and five days after lentectomy, completely regressed when the tissue was isolated in vitro . Fom the present and previous findings, we concluded that, the interaction of corneal cells with the retina plays a decisive role in lens regeneration in situ .  相似文献
