Chromosomal polymorphism involving chromosome pairs 3 and 5 problably due to a pericentric inversion is reported for 60 specimens of Zonotrichia capensis (Passeriformes-Aves). The frequency of seven different karyotypes, due to the fact that chromosome 3 is present in the 3st and 3sm conditions and chromosome 5 in the 5st and 5m conditions, and the significance of this polymorphism are discussed for the genus Zonotrichia and for other genera from the same family (Emberizidae). 相似文献

Copaiba oil is used as a popular medicine in the Amazonian forest region, especially due to its anti-inflammatory properties. In this paper, we describe the formulation of hydrogel containing copaiba oil nanoemulsions (with positive and negative charges), its skin permeation, and its anti-inflammatory activity in two in vivo models: mouse ear edema and rat paw edema. Three hydrogels were tested (Carbopol®, hydroxyethylcellulose and chitosan), but only Carbopol® and hydroxyethylcellulose hydrogels presented good stability and did not interfere with the nanoemulsions droplet size and polydispersity index. In skin permeation assay, both formulations, positively charged nanoemulsion (PCN) and negatively charged nanoemulsion (NCN), presented a high retention in epidermis (9.76 ± 2.65 μg/g and 7.91 ± 2.46 μg/cm2, respectively) followed by a smaller retention in the dermis (2.43 ± 0.91 and 1.95 ± 0.56 μg/cm2, respectively). They also presented permeation to the receptor fluid (0.67 ± 0.22 and 1.80 ± 0.85 μg/cm2, respectively). In addition, anti-inflammatory effect was observed to NCN and PCN with edema inhibitions of 69 and 67% in mouse ear edema and 32 and 72% in rat paw edema, respectively. Histological cuts showed the decrease of inflammatory factors, such as dermis and epidermis hyperplasia and inflammatory cells infiltration, confirming the anti-inflammatory effect from both copaiba oil nanoemulsions incorporated in hydrogel. 相似文献

Abstract: Heme oxygenase (HO), which catalyzes the degradation of heme, has two isozymes (HO-1 and HO-2). In brain the noninducible HO-2 isoform is predominant, whereas the inducible HO-1 is a marker of oxidative stress. Because brain oxidative stress might be present in prion-related encephalopathies (PREs), as in other neurodegenerative diseases, we investigated whether HO-1 mRNA was induced in neuronal and astroglial cell cultures by a peptide corresponding to residue 106–126 of human prion protein (PrP). This peptide is amyloidogenic, and when added in vitro to cultured cells it reproduces the neuronal death and astroglial proliferation and hypertrophy occurring in PREs. HO-1 mRNA did not accumulate in rat cultured neurons from hippocampus or cortex exposed to PrP 106–126 (50 µ M for 5 days). PrP 106–126 induced HO-1 mRNA accumulation in rat astroglial cultures depending on the exposure time and concentration, being maximal (33-fold) after 7 days of exposure at 50 µ M . The nonamyloidogenic amidated or amidated-acetylated PrP 106–126 was ineffective, as was a scrambled peptide used as control. N -Acetylcysteine reduced (50%) the accumulation of HO-1 mRNA in astroglial cells after PrP 106–126 (25 µ M ) given for 5 days. Thus, oxidative stress is apparently a feature of the toxicity of PrP 106–126, and it might also occur in PREs; induction of HO-1 could contribute to the greater resistance of astrocytes compared with neurons to PrP 106–126 toxicity. 相似文献

Contribution of sucrose synthase, ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase and starch synthase to starch synthesis in developing pea seeds 总被引:11,自引:0,他引:11
Using genetic variability existing amongst nine pea genotypes (Pisum sativum L.), the biochemical basis of sink strength in developing pea seeds was investigated. Sink strength was considered to be reflected by the rate of starch synthesis (RSS) in the embryo, and sink activity in the seed was reflected by the relative rate of starch synthesis (RRSS). These rates were compared to the activities of three enzymes of the starch biosynthetic pathway [sucrose synthase (Sus), ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase and starch synthase] at three developmental stages during seed filling (25, 50 and 75% of the dry seed weight). Complete sets of data collected during seed filling for the nine genotypes showed that, for all enzyme activities (expressed on a protein basis), only Sus in the embryo and seed coat was linearly and significantly correlated to RRSS. The contribution of the three enzyme activities to the variability in RSS and RRSS was evaluated by multiple regression analysis for the first two developmental stages. Only Sus activity in the embryo could explain, at least in part, the significant variability observed for both the RSS and the RRSS at each developmental stage. Sea urchin Hox genes: insights into the ancestral Hox cluster 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We describe the Hox cluster in the radially symmetric sea urchin and
compare our findings to what is known from clusters in bilaterally
symmetric animals. Several Hox genes from the direct-developing sea urchin
Heliocidaris erythrogramma are described. CHEF gel analysis shows that the
Hox genes are clustered on a < or = 300 kilobase (kb) fragment of DNA,
and only a single cluster is present, as in lower chordates and other
nonvertebrate metazoans. Phylogenetic analyses of sea urchin, amphioxus,
Drosophila, and selected vertebrate Hox genes confirm that the H.
erythrogramma genes, and others previously cloned from other sea urchins,
belong to anterior, central, and posterior groups. Despite their radial
body plan and lack of cephalization, echinoderms retain at least one of the
anterior group Hox genes, an orthologue of Hox3. The structure of the
echinoderm Hox cluster suggests that the ancestral deuterostome had a Hox
cluster more similar to the current chordate cluster than was expected Sea
urchins have at least three Abd-B type genes, suggesting that Abd-B
expansion began before the radiation of deuterostomes.

RNA synthesis in the venom glands of Crotalus durissus terrificus was stimulated by the manual extraction of the venom (milking). RNA was extracted from venom glands activated by milking and fractionated by centrifugation through sucrose density gradients. Template activity for protein synthesis and base composition of the RNA fractions were studied. RNA fractions that sediment between 18S and 4S had the highest template activity. The base composition analysis indicated that the 28S and 18S rRNA have a C+G content of 65.4 and 58% respectively. The ;melting' temperature (T(m)) of DNA in 0.15m-NaCl-0.015m-trisodium citrate, pH7.0, was 85 degrees C, corresponding to a C+G content of 38%. The base ratio of the RNA fractions that showed a high template activity was intermediate between that of rRNA and homologous DNA. The possible role of these fractions in the synthesis of the two main toxins (crotoxin and crotamine) of the South American rattlesnake's venom is discussed. 相似文献

Instability of 28S rRNA of Crotalus durissus terrificus liver was observed during hotphenol extraction: purified 28S rRNA is converted into an 18S RNA component by heat treatment. It was also found that ;6S' and ;8S' low-molecular-weight RNA species were released during the thermal conversion. This conversion and the release of the low-molecular-weight species were also induced by 8m-urea and 80% (v/v) dimethyl sulphoxide at 0 degrees C. Evidence is presented that this phenomenon is an irreversible process and results from the rupture of hydrogen bonds. The 18S RNA product was shown to be homogeneous by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis and by sucrose-density-gradient centrifugation. The base composition of the 18S RNA products obtained by heat, urea or dimethyl sulphoxide treatments was similar. The C+G content of the 18S RNA product was different from that of the native 18S rRNA, but similar to that of 28S rRNA. 相似文献
