Objective
To assess the efficacy of the D-R model for defining trends in the appearance of Ceftazidime-resistant Escherichia coli.Methods
Actual data related to the manifestation of Ceftazidime-resistant E. coli spanning years 1996–2009 were collected from the China National Knowledge Internet. These data originated from 430 publications encompassing 1004 citations of resistance. The GM(1,1) and the novel D-R models were used to fit current data and from this, predict trends in the appearance of the drug-resistant phenotype. The results were evaluated by Relative Standard Error (RSE), Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE).Results
Results from the D-R model showed a rapid increase in the appearance of Ceftazidime-resistant E. coli in this region of the world. These results were considered accurate based upon the minor values calculated for RSE, MAD and MAE, and were equivalent to or better than those generated by the GM(1,1) model.Conclusion
The D-R model which was originally created to define trends in the transmission of swine viral diseases can be adapted to evaluating trends in the appearance of Ceftazidime-resistant E. coli. Using only a limited amount of data to initiate the study, our predictions closely mirrored the changes in drug resistance rates which showed a steady increase through 2005, a decrease between 2005 and 2008, and a dramatic inflection point and abrupt increase beginning in 2008. This is consistent with a resistance profile where changes in drug intervention temporarily delayed the upward trend in the appearance of the resistant phenotype; however, resistance quickly resumed its upward momentum in 2008 and this change was better predicted using the D-R model. Additional work is needed to determine if this pattern of “increase-control-increase” is indicative of Ceftazidime-resistant E. coli or can be generally ascribed to bacteria acquiring resistance to drugs in the absence of alternative intervention. 相似文献82.

Ozone (O3) is important air pollutant inducing severe losses of horticultural production. Cultivars of the same species, but with different leaf colors, may differ in their ozone sensitivity. However, it has not been clarified yet if different leaf coloration influences such a sensitivity. In this study, two purple-leafed and two green-leafed cultivars of Pakchoi were selected for ozone fumigation (240 ± 20 nmol mol–1, 09:00–16:00 h). Elevated O3 decreased chlorophyll content, increased anthocyanin (Ant) content, damaged cell membrane integrity, enhanced antioxidative enzyme activities, depressed photosynthetic rate (P N) and stomatal conductance (g s), inhibited maximal quantum yield (Fv/Fm) and effective quantum yield [YII] of PSII photochemistry, and caused visible injury. Purple-leafed cultivars with higher Ant contents were more tolerant than green-leafed cultivars as indicated by lower relative enhancement in malondialdehyde content and lower relative losses in P N, g s, Fv/Fm, and YII. The higher ability to synthesize Ant in the purple-leafed cultivars contributed to their higher photoprotective ability. 相似文献

Cytoskeleton-associated proteins (CAPs) are involved in the organization of microtubules and transportation of vesicles and organelles along the cytoskeletal network. A conserved motif, CAP-Gly, has been identified in a number of CAPs, including CLIP-170 and dynactins. The crystal structure of the CAP-Gly domain of Caenorhabditis elegans F53F4.3 protein, solved by single wavelength sulfur-anomalous phasing, revealed a novel protein fold containing three beta-sheets. The most conserved sequence, GKNDG, is located in two consecutive sharp turns on the surface, forming the entrance to a groove. Residues in the groove are highly conserved as measured from the information content of the aligned sequences. The C-terminal tail of another molecule in the crystal is bound in this groove. 相似文献

Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of the grey mould disease, developed resistance to multiple fungicides. However, the role of cell membrane in survival competition of B. cinerea upon quinone outside inhibitor (QoI) fungicide has not yet been elucidated. In this paper, the enhancement of cystamine, a transglutaminase inhibitor, on membrane integrity of B. cinerea was determined, and the effect of the enhancement on the sensitivity of B. cinerea to pyraclostrobin was investigated. The results showed that pyraclostrobin inhibited mycelial growth with EC50 as 1.122 and 3.042 μg/ml at 24 and 48 hr, respectively. In the treatment of 5 and 50 μg/ml pyraclostrobin, membrane integrity of B. cinerea was broken, causing high permeability, lipid peroxidation, flocculent and malformed surface with vague septum and abundant agglomerates inside and outside the mycelia. Cystamine even at 50 and 200 μg/ml had little inhibitory effect on mycelial growth. However, in presence of 50 or 200 μg/ml cystamine, the mycelia from pyraclostrobin treatment possessed a significantly reduced leakage, lower MDA content, and a revived fibrous and transparent surface. Meanwhile, SEM images showed that membrane integrity of the mycelia was significantly improved and the agglomerates were dramatically disappeared. Synergy assays further revealed that B. cinerea regained less sensitivity to pyraclostrobin inhibition. In conclusion, membrane integrity controls mycelia sensitivity and is required for survival competition of B. cinerea upon pyraclostrobin. 相似文献

Waterlogging is one of the major stresses limiting crop production worldwide. The understanding of the mechanisms of plant adaptations to waterlogging stress helps improve plant tolerance to stress. In this study, physiological responses and morpho-anatomical adaptations of seven different barley genotypes were investigated under waterlogging stress. The results showed that the waterlogging-tolerant varieties (TX9425, Yerong, TF58) showed less reduction in plant height, SPAD (soil–plant analyses development analyses) value, tillers, shoot and root biomasses than did the waterlogging-sensitive varieties (Franklin, Naso Nijo, TF57). Under waterlogging stress condition, the tolerant genotypes also showed a much larger number of adventitious roots than did the sensitive genotypes. More intercellular spaces and better integrated chloroplast membrane structures were observed in the leaves of the waterlogging-tolerant cultivars, which is likely due to increased ethylene content, decreased ABA content and less accumulation of O2.?. The ability to form new adventitious roots and intercellular spaces in shoots can also be used as selection criteria in breeding barley for waterlogging tolerance. 相似文献

The inward‐rectifying K+ channel AKT1 constitutes an important pathway for K+ acquisition in plant roots. In glycophytes, excessive accumulation of Na+ is accompanied by K+ deficiency under salt stress. However, in the succulent xerophyte Zygophyllum xanthoxylum, which exhibits excellent adaptability to adverse environments, K+ concentration remains at a relatively constant level despite increased levels of Na+ under salinity and drought conditions. In this study, the contribution of ZxAKT1 to maintaining K+ and Na+ homeostasis in Z. xanthoxylum was investigated. Expression of ZxAKT1 rescued the K+‐uptake‐defective phenotype of yeast strain CY162, suppressed the salt‐sensitive phenotype of yeast strain G19, and complemented the low‐K+‐sensitive phenotype of Arabidopsis akt1 mutant, indicating that ZxAKT1 functions as an inward‐rectifying K+ channel. ZxAKT1 was predominantly expressed in roots, and was induced under high concentrations of either KCl or NaCl. By using RNA interference technique, we found that ZxAKT1‐silenced plants exhibited stunted growth compared to wild‐type Z. xanthoxylum. Further experiments showed that ZxAKT1‐silenced plants exhibited a significant decline in net uptake of K+ and Na+, resulting in decreased concentrations of K+ and Na+, as compared to wild‐type Z. xanthoxylum grown under 50 mm NaCl. Compared with wild‐type, the expression levels of genes encoding several transporters/channels related to K+/Na+ homeostasis, including ZxSKOR, ZxNHX, ZxSOS1 and ZxHKT1;1, were reduced in various tissues of a ZxAKT1‐silenced line. These findings suggest that ZxAKT1 not only plays a crucial role in K+ uptake but also functions in modulating Na+ uptake and transport systems in Z. xanthoxylum, thereby affecting its normal growth. 相似文献

以回声定位蝙蝠为模式动物,采用在体动物细胞外单位记录法,研究了后掩蔽效应对下丘神经元声反应的影响。结果显示,部分神经元(38%,12/31)对测试声刺激的反应明显受到掩蔽声的抑制,其后掩蔽效应强弱与掩蔽声和测试声的相对强度差(inter-stimulus level difference,SLD),以及测试声与掩蔽声之间的间隔时间(inter-stimulus onset asynchrony,SOA)有关:当掩蔽声强度升高或测试声强度降低时,后掩蔽效应增强;而SOA的缩短,亦可见后掩蔽效应增强。另外,相当数量的神经元(52%,16/31)对测试声刺激的反应并不受掩蔽声的影响,其中有的神经元只有在特定SLD和SOA时,才表现出后掩蔽效应。而少数下丘神经元(10%,3/31)在特定SLD和SOA时,掩蔽声对测试声反应有易化作用。上述结果表明,部分下丘神经元参与了声认知活动中的后掩蔽形成过程,推测下丘神经元在定型声反应特性中,对掩蔽声诱导的兴奋前抑制性输入与测试声诱导的兴奋性输入之间的时相性动态整合起关键作用。 相似文献
