Recognizing high prevalence of Diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disorders and low coverage by preventive examinations in the population of returnees, in Osijek Region, we initiated activities for early detection and better managing of chronic diseases. Measures done, were based on public health working methods, such as: education, solidarity and self-responsibility. A special attention was put on psychosocial aspects of the health-related matters. Exactly, free glucose tests were organized with subsequent healthy lifestyles advice session. It was brought to our attention that such intervention should be as much as possible individually oriented, considering many personal and social characteristics of an individual. Gynecological examinations for all women interested in were also organized. On that occasion, women were interviewed in order to get information about their motivation and obstacles for doing preventive examinations and difficulties in adaptation as well. Finally, outcomes of the Project were summarized and put in a larger social context.  相似文献

Differentiation and self-renewal of stem cells is an essential process for the maintenance of tissue composition. The promise of novel medical therapies combined with the complexity of this process encourage us to employ numerical and mathematical methods. This will allow us to understand better the mechanisms which regulate stem cell behaviour. Perturbations to the cellular environment may have an influence on the death rate, proliferation rate and on the fraction of self-renewal at every stage of differentiation. In this paper, we present mathematical study of the effect of stochastic noise on the process of tissue regeneration. Here, a system of Itô stochastic differential equations with linear diffusion coefficients that is based on a deterministic model of multistage cell lineages is investigated. Numerical simulations of the stochastic model are shown for a different number of stages of differentiation. Interactions between the noise, added to the different stages, are characterised using numerical simulations. The long-time behaviour of the two-dimensional version of the model is fully characterised; asymptotic stability of the related Markov semigroup is proved using the theory of the Markov semigroups and the method of the Khasminskií function.  相似文献

DNA assembly techniques have developed rapidly, enabling efficient construction of complex constructs that would be prohibitively difficult using traditional restriction-digest based methods. Most of the recent methods for assembling multiple DNA fragments in vitro suffer from high costs, complex set-ups, and diminishing efficiency when used for more than a few DNA segments. Here we present a cycled ligation-based DNA assembly protocol that is simple, cheap, efficient, and powerful. The method employs a thermostable ligase and short Scaffold Oligonucleotide Connectors (SOCs) that are homologous to the ends and beginnings of two adjacent DNA sequences. These SOCs direct an exponential increase in the amount of correctly assembled product during a reaction that cycles between denaturing and annealing/ligating temperatures. Products of early cycles serve as templates for later cycles, allowing the assembly of many sequences in a single reaction. To demonstrate the method’s utility, we directed the assembly of twelve inserts, in one reaction, into a transformable plasmid. All the joints were precise, and assembly was scarless in the sense that no nucleotides were added or missing at junctions. Simple, efficient, and low-cost cycled ligation assemblies will facilitate wider use of complex genetic constructs in biomedical research.  相似文献

The general patterns of histone H1 proteins from erythrocyte nuclei of Muscovy duck individuals were similar to those of Pekin type ducks both in acetic acid-urea and 2D polyacrylamide gels. We show here that Muscovy duck histone H1.z in the tested population was represented by three different electromorphs, each presumably encoded by a distinct allelic gene. Accordingly, we have identified six phenotypes consisting of the homodimeric and heterodimeric combinations of the three isoforms. The frequency of the presumptive alleles ranged from 0.506 for the main allele z1 to 0.379 for allele z2 and only 0.113 for the rarest allele z3. In addition to a standard set of somatic H1 variants, an unusual protein X, absent in other avian species, was also revealed.  相似文献

Assessment of the cerebral microcirculation by on-line visualization has been impossible for a long time. Sidestream dark-field (SDF) imaging is a relatively new method allowing direct visualization of cerebral surface layer microcirculation using hand-held probe for direct contact with target tissue. The aim of this study was to elucidate the feasibility of studying the cerebral microcirculation in situ by SDF imaging and to assess the basic cerebral microcirculatory parameters in mechanically ventilated rabbits. Images were obtained using SDF imaging from the surface of the brain via craniotomy. Clear high contrast SDF images were successfully obtained. Total small-vessel density was 14.6+/-1.8 mm/mm(2), total all-vessel density was 17.9+/-1.7 mm/mm(2), DeBacker score was 12.0+/-1.6 mm(-1) and microvascular flow index was 3.0+/-0.0. This method seems to be applicable in animal studies with possibility to use SDF imaging also intraoperatively, providing unique opportunity to study cerebral microcirculation during various experimental and clinical settings.  相似文献

The study continues the series of works on the Russian gene pool. Gene geographic analysis of five erythrocytic gene markers best studied in the Russian population (ACP1, PGM1, ESD, GLO1, and 6-PGD) has been performed. Gene-geographic electronic maps have been constructed for 13 alleles of these loci and their correlations with geographic latitude and longitude. For all maps, statistical characteristics are presented, including the variation range and mean gene frequencies, partial and multiple correlations with latitude and longitude, and parameters of heterozygosity and interpopulation diversity. The maps of eight alleles (ACP1*A, ACP1*C, PGM1*2+, PGM1*2-, PGM1*1-, ESD*1, GLO1*1, and PGD*C) are shown and analyzed in detail. The genetic relief and structural elements of the maps are compared with the ecumenical trends, main variation patterns of these genes in northern Eurasia, and genetic characteristics of the indigenous populations of the Urals and Europe.  相似文献
