Molecular dynamics simulations were performed on solvated systems containing three molecules of hexabenzocoronene (HBC) derivatives to model the initial self-association of asphaltenes. Specifically, the hexane-modified HBC (HBC6) and those with substitutions containing a side chain with sulphur at three positions (α-H6SA, β-H6SB, and γ-HBCS) and a nitrogen substitution (H6N1) are included. These molecules were solvated with 20 mol% heptane and 80% toluene. Intermediate aggregation states, partial (two molecule clusters), as well as full aggregation of trimer clusters were observed. The conformation of the associated clusters was characterised by π–π stacking, giving the cluster a pre-rod-like shape. The aggregates displayed stability and did not dissociate throughout the course of the simulation (100–530 ns). In particular, the H6SB system showed statistically significant difference in means for both the separation distance and overall interaction energy. H6N1 and H6SA systems differed from the others in terms of electrostatic contributions. To gain a thorough understanding of initial aggregation behaviour and conditions of asphaltenes, additional simulations need to be conducted, in particular those incorporating oxygen substitutions as oxygen is a common heteroatom in crude. 相似文献

Three different approaches for studying aorta endothelial cells by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were compared to expose cell border lines and surface shape simultaneously. Staining of aorta probes with silver nitrate leads to more specific silver deposits at cell junctions, but unsatisfactory image resolution obscures any detail of cell junctions and other fine structural features. Endothelium impregnated with tannin-osmium showed enhanced cell junction detail, but this method resulted in formation of presumably artificial structures. Osmium tetraoxide was most optimal for impregnation of aorta probes, as it exposed well cell border lines, excluded artifacts of tannin-osmium staining, provided a good image resolution in SEM, and allowed to analyse the ultrastructural features of cell surface. 相似文献

Abstract Plant hormones from biomass of the purple non-sulfur bacterium Rhodospiririllum rubrum were isolated for the first time. These compounds show high physiological activities (300–330%) in the cytokinin bioassay. All three detected cytokinins are adenine derivatives, according to spectral analysis. One of them was identified as 6-(4-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-trans-2-bytenylamino)-9-ß-D-ribofuranosylpurine (zeatinriboside) as shown by thin-layer chromatography and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Eutrophication and pollution of Lake Ladoga cause epidemiologic and toxicologic risks for its use as a supply of drinking water. Increased levels of nutrients (N and P) and low molecular weight organic compounds enhance microbial activity and transformations of xenobiotic compounds in the lake, and promote the formation of chlorinated compounds in drinking water purification process. Experimental studies on the toxicity of water and sediment samples from Priozersk, Pitkärranta, Petrokrepost and Volkhov Bay areas have resulted in marked blood, immune system and genetic responses in laboratory rats. Severe toxicity is also evidenced by Daphnia biotests. Epidemiological studies have revealed elevated morbidity and mortality levels in the human populations in certain regions in the environs of Lake Ladoga, with respect to a group of diseases with a potential connection with water quality, i.e. diseases of digestive organs and genitourinary system as well as malignant neoplasms. 相似文献
