Objective
To investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and prostate cancer (PCa) risk at biopsy in Chinese men.Patients and Methods
We retrospectively reviewed the records of 1,807 consecutive men who underwent initial multicore (≥10) prostate biopsy under transrectal ultrasound guidance between Dec 2004 and Feb 2014. BMI was categorised based on the Asian classification of obesity as follows: <18.5 (underweight), 18.5–22.9 (normal weight), 23–24.9 (overweight), 25–29.9 (moderately obese), and ≥30 kg/m2 (severely obese). The odds ratios (OR) of each BMI category for risk of PCa and high-grade prostate cancer (HGPCa, Gleason score ≥4+3) detection were estimated in crude, age-adjusted and multivariate-adjusted models. Prevalence ratios and accuracies of PSA predicted PCa were also estimated across BMI groups.Results
In total, PCa was detected by biopsy in 750 (45.4%) men, and HGPCa was detected in 419 (25.4%) men. Compared with men of normal weight, underweight men and obese men were older and had higher prostate specific antigen levels. The risk of overall PCa detection via biopsy presented an obvious U-shaped relationship with BMI in crude analysis. Overall, 50.0%, 37.4%, 45.6% 54.4% and 74.1% of the men in the underweight, normal weight, overweight, moderately obese and severely obese groups, respectively, were diagnosed with PCa via biopsy. In multivariate analysis, obesity was significantly correlated with a higher risk of PCa detection (OR = 1.17, 95%CI 1.10–1.25, P<0.001). However, higher BMI was not correlated with HGPCa detection (OR = 1.03, 95%CI 0.97–1.09, P = 0.29). There were no significant differences in the accuracy of using PSA to predict PCa or HGPCa detection across different BMI categories.Conclusion
Obesity was associated with higher risk of PCa detection in the present Chinese biopsy population. No significant association was detected between obesity and HGPCa. 相似文献12.

Preparation of poly(ε-caprolactone)/poly(trimethylene carbonate) blend nanofibers by electrospinning
Poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL)/poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC) blend nanofibers have been prepared for the first time using an electrospinning process. The mixed dichloromethane (DCM) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) (75/25, v/v) was found to be the most suitable solvent for electrospinning. Various blends of PCL/PTMC solutions were investigated for the formation of nano-scale fibers and it was found that the average diameter of the fibers was reduced and the morphology became finer when PTMC content was increased. FT-IR and DSC analysis indicated that the molecular interactions between PCL and PTMC were weak and they were phase-separated in the fibers. Due to the biocompatible properties of PCL and PTMC, the spun nanofibers developed here could have applications in the biomedical field. 相似文献

以祁连山东段高寒草甸栖息的高原鼢鼠(Myospalax baileyi)为研究对象,探讨放牧干扰下高原鼢鼠适合栖息地选择的影响因素,为合理控制草原鼠害和保护生物多样性提供科学依据。在5个不同放牧强度小区中,连续3年监测高原鼢鼠相对种群密度变化,同时获取植被和土壤的变化数据。分析高原鼢鼠相对种群密度、植被(盖度、高度、频度、植被生物量、植被均匀度、丰富度、多样性和地下根系生物量)和土壤(紧实度、容重、水分)之间的关系。中度放牧干扰下,高原鼢鼠相对种群密度最低,不利于对栖息地的选择,轻度、次轻度放牧区的高原鼢鼠相对种群密度高于重度、次重度放牧区的;轻度放牧干扰的草地有利于高原鼢鼠种群数量的增加。高原鼢鼠相对种群密度与土壤紧实度、容重呈显著负相关(R=﹣0.921、﹣0.883,P0.05);与土壤水分呈显著正相关(R=0.879,P0.05);高原鼢鼠相对种群密度与地下根系生物量呈极显著正相关(R=0.982,P0.01),与植被丰富度呈显著正相关(R=0.921,P0.05),与地上植被总盖度呈显著正相关(R=0.909,P0.05),与地上生物量、均匀度、多样性呈不显著正相关(P0.05)。在草地放牧干扰系统中,非生物因素土壤紧实度、水分可能是高原鼢鼠栖息地选择的首要选择因素,食物资源也许是次要选择因素。 相似文献

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 viral protein R (Vpr) is required for viral pathogenesis and has been implicated in T-cell apoptosis through its activation of caspase 3 and caspase 9 and perturbation of mitochondrial membrane potential. To understand better Vpr-mitochondria interaction, we report here the identification of antiapoptotic mitochondrial protein HAX-1 as a novel Vpr target. We show that Vpr and HAX-1 physically associate with each other. Overexpression of Vpr in cells dislocates HAX-1 from its normal residence in mitochondria and creates mitochondrion instability and cell death. Conversely, overexpression of HAX-1 suppressed the proapoptotic activity of Vpr. 相似文献

We investigated the effects of two NOS inhibitors (AG and l-NAME) on DMBA-induced hamster buccal-pouch carcinogenesis. Six hundred Syrian golden hamsters were split into two divisions (I and II); divisions split into three groups (experimental groups A and B, control group C); and each group into subgroups of 20 (A1-A6, B1-B6 and C1-C3). The pouches of animals in groups A1-A3 were painted first with AG of differing concentrations (10, 20, and 30 micromol/ml) and then 30 min later with DMBA (0.5%), thrice weekly for 9 weeks. Subgroups A4-A6 only received AG treatment. Groups B1 to B6 were similarly treated with l-NAME. Animals in division II were treated in the same manner for 13 weeks. Post-mortem analysis revealed that both inhibitors can suppress the development of epithelial dysplasias and squamous-cell carcinomas. An associated increase in the numbers of epithelial hyperplasias was paralleled by a decrease in iNOS protein expression. This animal model can be employed to evaluate the potential use of iNOS inhibitors as novel therapeutic tools for oral squamous-cell carcinogenesis. 相似文献

Baogongteng A (BGT-A), a naturally occurring tropane muscarinic agonist isolated from Chinese medicinal plant, exhibits a bioactive effect different from those of many tropane alkaloids that are muscarinic antagonists. A series of racemic derivatives of BGT-A was synthesized to study the structure-activity relationships (SAR). To explore further the SAR in this series and to ultimately design muscarinic agonists for drug development, a Comparative Molecular Field Analysis (CoMFA) was performed. The values of the leave-one-out cross-validated correlation coefficient q2 and the conventional correlation coefficient r2 for the model are 0.613 and 0.965, respectively. The regression analysis of the data indicated that the steric effect of N-substituted group on tropane of analyzed compounds critically affected the agonistic activity to muscarinic receptors. 相似文献
