Tremendous research efforts are devoted to developing wide potential window aqueous supercapacitors to resolve their low energy density concern. While the operational potential window is dictated by the intrinsic electrochemical stability of water (1.23 V), such a bottleneck may be surpassed by leveraging the additional overpotential of the oxygen evolution reaction and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, by employing an electroreduction technique, Na+ is adsorbed onto the carbon negative electrode which effectively acts as a physical barrier to hinder intermediate HER product formation, thereby reducing HER activity. To complement the wide potential carbon electrode, Na0.25MnO2 is employed as the positive electrode to take advantage of the extra energy (i.e., increased overpotential) required for Na+ insertion process into the structure. The asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits high energy density of 61.1 W h kg?1 at a power density of 982 W kg?1, and even at an ultrahigh power density of 42.9 kW kg?1, a respectable energy density of 16.3 W h kg?1 is attained. In addition, 93.7% capacitance retention is recorded after cycling for 10 000 cycles which further demonstrates its suitability as supercapacitor. The present success in fabricating a 2.7 V asymmetric supercapacitor will open a promising research route toward achieving high energy density and high power density. 相似文献
We investigated the possible risk factors that could influence the likelihood of breastfeeding at 5 to 9 weeks postpartum with our primary aim being to analyse the associations between psychological vulnerabilities, such as peripartum depression and anxiety, and continued breastfeeding. Our secondary aim was to investigate other non-psychological factors’ influence on continued breastfeeding.
Methods
A prospective cohort study was conducted in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. Healthy nulliparous parturients at ≥36 weeks gestation with a singleton fetus who received epidural analgesia were recruited. Demographic and anaesthetic data were obtained. Self-reported psychological and pain determinants such as anxiety (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory), depression (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale), stress (Perceived Stress Scale), pain susceptibility (Pain Catastrophizing Scale) and pain perception (McGill Pain Questionnaire) were also recorded at baseline. A phone interview was then performed at 5 to 9 weeks postpartum to obtain information on breastfeeding status.
Results
329 participants were included into this study, of which 263 (79.9%) of them were still breastfeeding at 5 weeks postpartum. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a higher State-Trait Anxiety Inventory score (Adjusted Odds Ratio [AOR] 0.97; 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 0.94, 1.00) at baseline, higher intrapartum blood loss (AOR 0.76; 95% CI 0.61, 0.93), and occurrence of fetal anomalies (AOR 0.15; 95% CI 0.03, 0.72) were associated with reduced likelihood of breastfeeding at 5 to 9 weeks postpartum. Indians (AOR 0.56; 95% CI 0.20, 1.53), Malays (AOR 0.30; 95% CI 0.14, 0.62) and other ethnicities (AOR 0.36; 95% CI 0.16, 0.83) were less likely to continue breastfeeding compared to Chinese participants. On the other hand, receiving any support services on breastfeeding during the participants’ hospital stay was 3.3 times more likely (AOR 3.30; 95% CI 1.21, 9.02) to increase the likelihood of breastfeeding at 5 to 9 weeks postpartum.
Conclusion
We identified 5 independent association factors that could have significant influences on breastfeeding at 5 to 9 weeks postpartum. Healthcare providers could utilize this risk stratification to identify parturients likely to have poorer breastfeeding outcomes and undertake interventions that may help safeguard optimization of breastfeeding outcomes and parturient care.

Background: Genetic divergence is one of the key processes in speciation. In the Begoniaceae, genetic divergence caused by limited gene flow may explain its high species diversity and endemicity. This hypothesis has been supported by past genetic work but there is a lack of empirical studies on the causes of limited gene flow.
Aim: To identify the causes of limited gene flow in Begonia.
Methods: We examined the genetic structure among the populations of Begonia maxwelliana at the macro- and micro-spatial scales using microsatellites, measured seed dispersal range and observed flowering phenology.
Results: Population differentiation and structuring were detected at both the macro- and micro-scales. Dispersal range was short, and all populations showed similar reproductive behaviour.
Conclusions: The strong population differentiation and structuring among the populations studied imply that they are evolutionarily significant units and possible candidates for speciation. Geographical barriers and limited seed dispersal restrict gene flow in the populations, and these factors may be responsible for the rapid speciation and large diversity in the family. 相似文献

We report transient expression of a full-length cDNA encoding the Ca2+ release channel of rabbit skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum (ryanodine receptor) in HEK-293 cells. The single-channel properties of the 3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propane sulfonate-solubilized and sucrose gradient-purified recombinant Ca2+ release channels were investigated by using single-channel recordings in planar lipid bilayers. The recombinant Ca2+ release channel exhibited a K+ conductance of 780 pS when symmetrical 250 mM KCl was used as the conducting ion and a Ca2+ conductance of 116 pS in 50 mM luminal Ca2+. Opening events of the recombinant channels were brief, with an open time constant of approximately 0.22 ms. The recombinant Ca2+ release channel was more permeable to Ca2+ than to K+, with a pCa2+/pK+ ratio of 6.8. The response of the recombinant Ca2+ release channel to various concentrations of Ca2+ was biphasic, with the channel being activated by micromolar Ca2+ and inhibited by millimolar Ca2+. The recombinant channels were activated by ATP and caffeine, inhibited by Mg2+ and ruthenium red, and modified by ryanodine. Most recombinant channels were asymmetrically blocked, conducting current unidirectionally from the luminal to the cytoplasmic side of the channel. These data demonstrate that the properties of recombinant Ca2+ release channel expressed in HEK-293 cells are very similar, if not identical, to those of the native channel. 相似文献
A high-density genetic map of the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea (Guy11×2539) was constructed by adding 87 cosmid-derived RFLP markers to previously generated maps. The new map consists
of 203 markers representing 132 independently segregating loci and spans approximately 900 cM with an average resolution of
4.5 cM. Mapping of 33 cosmid probes from the genetic map generated by Sweigard et al. has allowed the integration of two M. grisea maps. The integrated map showed that the linear order of markers along all seven chromosomes in both maps is in good agreement.
Thirty of eighty seven markers were derived from cosmid clones that contained the retrotransposon MAGGY (M. grisea gypsy element). Mapping of single-copy DNA sequences associated with the MAGGY cosmids indicated that MAGGY elements are
scattered throughout the fungal genome. In eight cases, the probes associated with MAGGY elements showed abnormal segregation
patterns. This suggests that MAGGY may be involved in genomic rearrangements. Two RFLP probes linked to MAGGY elements, and
another flanking other repetitive DNA elements, identified sequences that were duplicated in the Guy11 genome. Most of the
MAGGY cosmids also contained other classes of repetitive DNA suggesting that repetitive DNA sequences tend to cluster in the
M. grisea genome.

Throughout the tropics, mammalian seed dispersers are being driven to local extinction by intense hunting pressure, generating concern not only about the loss of these species, but also about the consequences for the plants they disperse. We compared two rain forest sites in Cameroon—one with heavy hunting pressure and one protected from hunting—to appraise the loss of mammalian seed dispersers and to assess the impact of this loss on seed removal and seed dispersal of Antrocaryon klaineanum (Anacardiaceae), a mammal-dispersed tree. Surveys of arboreal frugivores indicate that three of the five monkey species, as well as chimpanzee and gorilla, have been extirpated from the hunted forest. Diaspore counts underneath A. klaineanum adults (six trees per site) indicate that seed removal is severely reduced in the hunted forest. Finally, genetic maternity exclusion analysis (using 3–7 nuclear microsatellite loci) of maternally inherited endocarp tissue from diaspores collected under the canopies of 12 fruiting "mother" trees (six trees per site) revealed that seed dispersal in the hunted forest is also greatly reduced. In the hunted forest with reduced mammal dispersal agents, only 1 of the 53 assayed endocarps (2%) did not match the mother and was determined to be from a dispersed diaspore. By contrast, in the protected forest, 20 of the 48 assayed endocarps (42%) were from dispersed diaspores. This study provides strong evidence that loss of dispersal agents can lead to reduced seed removal and loss of seed dispersal, disrupting the seed dispersal cycle. 相似文献
Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) has emerged as an important agent of diarrhoeal disease. Attachment to host cells, an essential step during intestinal colonization by EHEC, is associated with the formation of a highly organized cytoskeletal structure containing filamentous actin, termed an attaching and effacing (A/E) lesion, directly beneath bound bacteria. The outer membrane protein intimin is required for the formation of this structure, as is Tir, a bacterial protein that is translocated into the host cell and is thought to function as a receptor for intimin. To understand intimin function better, we fused EHEC intimin to a homologous protein, Yersinia pseudotuberculosis invasin, or to maltose-binding protein. The N-terminal 539 amino acids of intimin were sufficient to promote outer membrane localization of the C-terminus of invasin and, conversely, the N-terminal 489 amino acids of invasin were sufficient to promote the localization of the C-terminus of intimin. The C-terminal 181 residues of intimin were sufficient to bind mammalian cells that had been preinfected with an enteropathogenic E. coli strain that expresses Tir but not intimin. Binding of intimin derivatives to preinfected cells correlated with binding to recombinant Tir protein. Finally, the 181-residue minimal Tir-binding region of intimin, when purified and immobilized on latex beads, was sufficient to trigger A/E lesions on preinfected mammalian cells. 相似文献
