CCK nerve terminals in the rat striatal and limbic areas originate partly in the brain stem and partly in telencephalic structures 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
After direct injection of colchicine into the rat rostral caudateputamen, levels of cholecystokinin-like immunoreactive (CCK-IR) material in this part of the nucleus are significantly lowered, and CCK-IR neuronal cell bodies are not demonstrable in the caudateputamen, although numerous ones are revealed in some adjacent telencephalic regions. Direct injection of kainic acid into the rostral caudate-putamen is not followed by a decrease of CCK-IR material in the lesioned region. Twenty one days after injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the rat ventral mesencephalon, a significant decrease of CCK-IR material is observed in the frontal pole, the pyriform cortex, the nucleus accumbens and the ventral mesencephalon itself, but not in the caudate-putamen. After brain stem hemitransection, no decrease in CCK-IR material is observed in the rostral caudate-putamen. 相似文献

Early neonatal mortality in England and Wales in the second quarter of 1970 after a major influenza epidemic was slightly but significantly higher than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. An increase was also noted in the first quarter of 1970. Analysis of infant mortality and an index of influenza prevalence over the past quarter-century indicates that similar increases occurred in relation to four of the other five major influenza epidemics during the period, the exception being the “Asian ''flu” epidemic of the autumn of 1957. It is suggested that the increased mortality in 1970 was the consequence of an increase in the prematurity rate, but we have no evidence to indicate whether the effect is specifically due to the virus or is nonspecific in nature. 相似文献

Summary Early meiotic stages of Arbacia punctulata oocytes have revealed the presence of synaptinemal complexes in the chromosomes, which persist through zygotene-pachytene. The synaptinemal complexes conform broadly to the usual tripartite structures found in other higher forms. In addition, nuclei at these stages consist of a small nucleolus and dense bodies of varying sizes. The nucleolus is fibrillar in texture throughout and does not seem to incorporate Uridine-5-3H after pulse labeling, whereas the chromosomes are labeled. The nucleolar label is visualized at diplotene stages and onwards. The nuclear envelope differentiates by the appearance of numerous nuclear pore complexes with dense material in the annuli, and the chromosomes become markedly diffused. Skeletal muscle glycogen metabolism was investigated in eight male subjects during and after six sets of 70% one repetition maximum (1 RM, I-70) and 35% 1 RM (I-35) intensity weight-resistance leg extension exercise. Total force application to the machine lever arm was determined via a strain gauge and computer interfaced system and was equated between trials. Compared with the I-70 trial, the I-35 trial was characterized by almost double the repetitions (13 +/- 1 vs. 6 +/- 0) and half the peak concentric torque for each repetition (12.4 +/- 0.5 vs. 24.2 +/- 1.0 Nm). After the sixth set, muscle glycogen degradation was similar between I-70 and I-35 trials (47.0 +/- 6.6 and 46.6 +/- 6.0 mmol/kg wet wt, respectively), as was muscle lactate accumulation (13.8 +/- 0.7 and 16.7 +/- 4.2 mmol/kg wet wt, respectively). After 2 h of passive recovery without caloric intake, muscle glycogen increased by 22.2 +/- 6.8 and 14.2 +/- 2.5 mmol/kg wet wt in the I-70 and I-35 trials, respectively. Optical absorbance measurement of periodic acid-Schiff-stained muscle sections after the 2 h of recovery revealed larger absorbance increases in fast-twitch than in slow-twitch fibers (0.119 +/- 0.024 and 0.055 +/- 0.024, P = 0.02). Data indicated that when external work was constant, the absolute amount of muscle glycogenolysis was the same regardless of the intensity of resistance exercise. In the course of a systematic survey of DMD and BMD patients with intronic probes and with cDNA probes covering three-fourths of the coding sequence, 45 molecular deletions within the DMD gene were investigated. Forty-two percent of the breakpoints were located in the intronic sequence containing probe P20, whereas the other deletions were widespread around the more proximal part of the gene. Most of the BMD deletions were in the P20 region. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis was used to determine the size of some deletions and allowed us to estimate the physical distance between the intronic probes JBir and P20. The reading frame was checked in 11 cases with proximal deletions and found to be disrupted in 6 of 7 DMD patients, in 1 intermediate case, and, unexpectedly, in 3 BMD patients. 相似文献
