A brief overview of the current views on the functional role of genetic VNTR polymorphism in humans is given. Data on the involvement of VNTRs in the regulation of gene expression and in the formation of complex phenotypes are presented. According to these data, the effects of VNTRs are determined by the number of repeats, the structure of their monomers and flanking haplotypes, epigenetic mechanisms (in the case of localization in imprinted regions) and can be modified by environmental factors. Some possible mechanisms of the influence of VNTRs on the level of expression are considered.  相似文献

The genetic demographic parameters of rural populations of Kyrgyzstan have been studied. The rural population of Kyrgyzstan has the following demographic characteristics: (1) it is demographically young (the population mean age is 25–28 years); (2) the sex ratio in reproductive age groups is unfavorable; (3) the fertility is high (5.78–7.68 pregnancies and 4.27–5.20 surviving children per woman of postreproductive age; (4) interethnic marriages are rare (1.0–5.9%), whereas consanguineous marriages are frequent (1.4–12%); (5) Crow's indices are relatively low (I tot = 0.24–0.29, I m = 0.05–0.13, I f = 0.14–0.22); and (6) both male and female contributions of different regions of the republic make unequal contributions to the gametic structure of the population, with the gametic structure varying from generation to generation. Demographic parameters vary in rural populations of different geographic regions and with different ethnic compositions.  相似文献

In this study, we for the first time described the variability of methylation levels of 71 CpG sites in microRNA genes in leukocytes and blood vessels (coronary artery atherosclerotic plaques, intact internal thoracic arteries, and great saphenous veins) in patients with atherosclerosis using the Infinium HumanMethylation27 BeadChip microarray. Most of the analyzed CpG sites were characterized by the low variability, and most of these low-variable sites were hypomethylated in all tissue samples. CpG sites in coronary artery atherosclerotic plaques and leukocytes were similar in their methylation status. The highest variability of CpG methylation levels between different tissues was found for the CpG sites of the MIR10B gene; the methylation levels of these sites in leukocytes and atherosclerotic arteries were lower than in intact blood vessels. We also found that several cardiovascular disease risk factors, as well as medications, might affect methylation levels of CpG sites in microRNAs.  相似文献

The mechanisms of stepping pattern formation initiated by epidural spinal cord stimulation in decerebrated cats, were investigated. It is shown that the ability to produce the stepping pattern involve the L3-L5 segments. In flexor muscle, the formation of stepping pattern under optimal stimulation frequency (5-10 Hz) of these segments is provided by polysynaptic activity with the latency 80-110 ms. In extensor muscle, this process is realized through interaction of monosynaptic reflex and polysynaptic activity. The stepping pattern under epidural stimulation is determined by spinal structures with modulation influence of the peripheral feedback.  相似文献

The similarity between the dynamics of the human balance control system in the frontal and sagittal planes during the fixation of visual stimulus and smooth pursuit of its sinusoidal movements in the horizontal plane with a frequency of 0.1 or 0.01 Hz (so-named fast and slow pursuit) has been investigated by the nonlinear method of analysis. The experiments were carried out according to the notion that it is possible to describe the process of orthograde standing by a two-segment model--upper and lower segments which are connected by a hip joint (other joints were fixed). It was shown that during fixation the similarity between the dynamics of orthostatic control system in the frontal plane is higher than in the sagittal plane. A slow pursuit does not influence the similarity, but a fast one decreases the similarity in the frontal plane. The indices of similarity between the dynamics of the system in the sagittal plane for all the conditions are close and do not differ significantly. The changes in similarity during fast pursuit are supposed to be connected with the different inertia of eyes and body movements. The differences between dynamic similarity in the frontal and sagittal planes are probably connected with the peculiarities of both balance control during joint fixation and AP-ML control (Winter et al., 1993) under conditions investigated.  相似文献

The results of analysis of genetic and demographic structure of two village communities of Tomsk region are presented. Migration processes were shown to play important role in forming genetic structure of populations; less than 20% of inhabitants of the communities under study were born in those populations, where they live at present. These village communities are characterized by high values of gametic contribution of the populations situated outside Tomsk region, by intervillage heterogeneity of gene flow structure and by insignificant gametic exchange between the populations. The portions of heterolocal and international marriages offsprings increased from elder to younger groups of inhabitants.  相似文献

Aims: Escherichia coli have been targeted for studying antimicrobial resistance in companion animals because of opportunistic infections and as a surrogate for resistance patterns in zoonotic organisms. The aim of our study is to examine antimicrobial resistance in E. coli isolated from various anatomical sites on healthy dogs and cats and identify genetic relatedness. Methods and Results: From May to August, 2007, healthy companion animals (155 dogs and 121 cats) from three veterinary clinics in the Athens, GA, USA, were sampled. Escherichia coli was isolated from swabs of nasal, oral, rectal, abdomen and hindquarter areas. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing against 16 antimicrobials was performed using broth microdilution with the Sensititre? system. Clonal types were determined by a standardized pulsed‐field gel electrophoresis protocol. Although rectal swabs yielded the most E. coli (165/317; 52%) from dogs and cats, the organism was distributed evenly among the other body sites sampled. Escherichia coli isolates from both dogs and cats exhibited resistance to all antimicrobials tested with the exception of amikacin, cephalothin and kanamycin. Resistance to ampicillin was the most prevalent resistance phenotype detected (dogs, 33/199; 17%; and cats, 27/118; 23%). Among the resistant isolates, 21 resistance patterns were observed, where 18 patterns represented multidrug resistance (MDR; resistance ≥2 antimicrobial classes). Also among the resistant isolates, 33 unique clonal types were detected, where each clonal type contained isolates from various sampling sites. Similar resistance phenotypes were exhibited among clonal types, and three clonal types were from both dogs and cats. Conclusions: Healthy companion animals can harbour antimicrobial‐resistant E. coli on body sites that routinely come in contact with human handlers. Significance and Impact of the Study: This study is the first report that demonstrates a diverse antimicrobial‐resistant E. coli population distributed over various sites of a companion animal’s body, thereby suggesting potential transfer of resistant microflora to human hosts during contact.  相似文献
