In this study, the findings of three water mite species of the family Hygrobatidae collected from different streams in Turkey were evaluated. Hygrobates (s. str.) anatolicus Esen & Pešić, sp. n. is described as new for science. Hygrobates (Rivobates) diversiporus Sokolow, 1927 and Atractides (s. str.) nikooae Pešić, 2004, which were illustrated and thoroughly discussed, are new records for the Turkish fauna.  相似文献

Structure and distribution of sensilla were studied in sixteen species of the caddisfly family Philopotamidae. Their antennae bear numerous curved trichoid and pseudoplacoid sensilla and fewer coronal, styloconic and chaetoid sensilla on the flagellar segments. The most numerous pseudoplacoid sensilla have non-specific localization. The curved trichoid sensilla form clusters ventrally on each antennal segment. Sensilla belonging to coronal, styloconic and chaetoid types have specific positions. Long grooved trichoid sensilla are located nonspecifically in all the studied species. The average number of sensilla per segment decreases from the proximal to distal part of the flagellum. Scapus and pedicellum are devoid of most types of sensilla, however, they bear the Böhm bristles and long trichoid sensilla. A positive correlation between antenna dimensions and its cuticular structures is found.  相似文献

The checkpoint kinase ATM (ataxia telangiectasia mutated) transduces genomic stress signals to halt cell cycle progression and promote DNA repair in response to DNA damage. We have recently identified an essential cofactor for ATM, ATMIN (for ATM INteractor). Several observations suggested that ATMIN plays a key role in ATM signalling. ATMIN and ATM protein stability were mutually dependent, which indicated an intimate physical and functional interaction. ATMIN bound ATM using a short carboxy-terminal motif, in a manner analogous to how another ATM cofactor, Nijmegen Breakage Syndrome protein 1 (NBS1), associates with ATM. ATMIN and NBS1 had complementary functions in ATM signalling. ATMIN was required for ATM signalling by chloroquine and hypotonic stress, but not after induction of double-stand breaks by ionizing radiation (IR), whereas NBS1 is required for ATM signalling by IR. This suggested competition of NBS1 and ATMIN for ATM binding in a signal-dependent fashion. Some implications of these findings for the ATM signalling pathway are discussed.  相似文献

The structure of the 13C,15N-labeled d(GCGAAGC) hairpin, as determined by NMR spectroscopy and refined using molecular dynamics with NOE-derived distances, torsion angles, and residual dipolar couplings (RDCs), is presented. Although the studied molecule is of small size, it is demonstrated that the incorporation of diminutive RDCs can significantly improve local structure determination of regions undefined by the conventional restraints. Very good correlation between the experimental and back-calculated small one- and two-bond 1H-13C, 1H-15N, 13C-13C and 13C-15N coupling constants has been attained. The final structures clearly show typical features of the miniloop architecture. The structure is discussed in context of the extraordinary stability of the d(GCGAAGC) hairpin, which originates from a complex interplay between the aromatic base stacking and hydrogen bonding interactions.  相似文献

The type series of Progynotaenia evaginata Fuhrmann, 1909 from Burhinus senegalensis in Sudan, P. foetida Meggitt, 1928 from B. oedicnemus in Egypt and Angularia australis Maplestone, 1921 from B. grallarius in Australia are redescribed. As a comparative material, specimens of P. evaginata from B. oedicnemus in Kazakhstan were studied. The type-series of P. evaginata and P. foetida were found to be heterogeneous due to the presence of scoleces and fragments of cestodes of the genus Stenovaria Spasskii & Borgarenko, 1973 (Dilepididae). For P. foetida, a lectotype is designated. P. foetida is recognised as a synonym of P. evaginata (new synonymy). Angularia australis, previously considered a member of the Dilepididae, is transferred to the Progynotaeniidae as a synonym of P. evaginata (new synonymy). The synonymy of P. indica Johri, 1963 with P. evaginata, proposed by Ryzhikov & Tolkacheva (1981), is supported. The host range and the geographical distribution of P. evaginata are restricted to birds of the genus Burhinus from the Eastern Hemisphere.  相似文献

Background  

Computer programs for the generation of multiple sequence alignments such as "Clustal W" allow detection of regions that are most conserved among many sequence variants. However, even for regions that are equally conserved, their potential utility as hybridization targets varies. Mismatches in sequence variants are more disruptive in some duplexes than in others. Additionally, the propensity for self-interactions amongst oligonucleotides targeting conserved regions differs and the structure of target regions themselves can also influence hybridization efficiency. There is a need to develop software that will employ thermodynamic selection criteria for finding optimal hybridization targets in related sequences.  相似文献

The contamination of apples Gloster variety withPenicillium expansum was investigated in the case study. The apples serve as a raw material in thefood industry for processing of baby foodstuffs and other apple products. The core of 3 – 5 % apple samples has been contaminated with spores and mycelium of untested microfungi. The surface tissue of stored apples has not been damaged. Penicillium expansum was isolated in all tested apple samples. Patulin has been found at levels tens to hundreds of üg/kg in tested apple samples. Patulin was primarily associated with core and areas of decomposing tissue and can penetrate up to approx. 1 cm of the surrounding healthy tissue. The production of patulin after the experimental contamination of apples was tested after 14 days of storage (21 °C, dark). The maximum value of patulin was found 110 mg/kg of rotten part of apple sample.  相似文献

Genetic differences between two subspecies of Dolly Varden, northern Salvelinus malma malma and southern Salvelinus malma krascheninnikovi, from rivers of eastern Russia were studied. Mitochondrial DNA was analyzed by restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP) performed on products amplified with polymerase chain reaction. Three adjacent segments (approximately 7670 bp), comprising 47% of the mitochondrial genome were used: two encoding the five complete NADH dehydrogenase subunits and the other the cytochrome b gene and the control region (D-loop). Total composite haplotypes 46 were found among 136 fishes using RFLP analysis with 14 restriction enzymes. The amount of nucleotide divergence between haplotypes of two subspecies of Dolly Varden was estimated to be approximately 4%. The differences in the level of nucleotide diversity, mismatch distribution between haplotypes, and population-genetic structure of two subspecies of Dolly Varden suggest that these two forms have existed separately for a long time.  相似文献

Background  

Termination of translation in eukaryotes requires two release factors, eRF1, which recognizes all three nonsense codons and facilitates release of the nascent polypeptide chain, and eRF3 stimulating translation termination in a GTP-depended manner. eRF3 from different organisms possess a highly conservative C region (eRF3C), which is responsible for the function in translation termination, and almost always contain the N-terminal extension, which is inessential and vary both in structure and length. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae the N-terminal region of eRF3 is responsible for conversion of this protein into the aggregated and functionally inactive prion form.  相似文献
