A review of the subgenus Metaphyllobius Smirnov of the weevil genus Phyllobius Germ. is given. The name Ph. maculatus Tournier, 1880 is restored from synonymy with Ph. pomaceus fessus Boheman, 1843. A new synonymy is established: Ph. maculatus Tournier, 1880 (= jacobsoni Smirnov, 1913, syn. n.). Ph. fessus Boheman, 1843 is downgraded to a subspecies of Ph. pomaceus Gyllenhal, 1834—Ph. pomaceus fessus Boheman, 1843, stat. n. Data on the distribution and hosts of, and a key to European and Siberian species of the subgenus Metaphyllobius are given.  相似文献

Water streams in the temporary water beds after heavy showers in the extra-arid Mongolian Trans-Altai Gobi Desert kill many coleopterans especially those with the larvae feeding on and in roots in the soil or in the stem/root base. Another impact of the flooding of desert habitats is the development of fungal infections in the stem- or root-mining larvae and adults. In the areas with often draughts, soil-dwelling larvae of cleonines can remain inactive in the air-dry soil for at least 1.5 years and immediately pupate after rainfall which evidently has a function of the signal for completion of premature development. In the desert landscape with low diversity and population densities of insectivorous birds, reptiles, and mammals, rodents (jerboas) may be the main predators of the root-feeding beetle larvae, digging them out of the soil or taking them off the stem base.  相似文献

Two new species of the weevil genus Mecysmoderes Schoenherr, 1837 are described from Vietnam. Mecysmoderes (Enzoellus) vladimirisp. n. differs from the type species of Enzoellus and its allies from Thailand and Laos in the larger size, deeper meshes on the pronotum, broader legs and a velvety black sutural spot on the elytra. Mecysmoderes (Xenysmoderes) sergiisp. n. in the shape, coloration, and vestiture of the body is similar to M. consularis Pascoe, but clearly differs in the larger size, strongly and unevenly convex pronotal disc, swollen in the middle part elytra, and a dark scutellar spot.  相似文献

A new subgenus of Mecysmoderes Sch., Enzoellus Korotyaev, subgen. n. (type species Mecysmoderes carinatus Faust), two new genera of the tribe Hypohypurini Colonnelli, Siamohypurus Korotyaev, gen. n. (Enzoellus) gressitti Korotyaev, sp. n. from Thailand and Laos, M. (Enzoellus) muratovi Korotyaev, sp. n., Megahypurus oroszi Korotyaev, sp. n., Cyphohypurus suppantschitschi Korotyaev, sp. n., Siamohypurus samuelsoni Korotyaev, sp. n., S. attilai Korotyaev, sp. n., Glikmanellus rosti Korotyaev, sp. n., all from Thailand; G. baloghi Korotyaev, sp. n. from Sri Lanka; G. obrieni Korotyaev, sp. n. and G. louisae Korotyaev, sp. n., both from India. A key to three species of Megahypurus from Thailand is given. Host plants are determined for Megahypurus alexandri Kor. and Glikmanellus rosti sp. n. from Koh Kood Island in southern Thailand, which were repeatedly collected from a tree of the family Rubiaceae.  相似文献

In desert and steppe habitats of the complex North Caspian semi-desert, more than twofold differences in the number of hortobiont Curculionoidea species (33 and 75 species, respectively) were observed between the “dry” (1972–1974) and “humid” (2003–2005) climatic phases. The abundance of most species changed. Polyphagous steppe weevils of the subfamily Entiminae (Otiorhynchus velutinus, Euidosomus acuminatus, Omias verruca, and O. rotundatus) with spring activity of adults were the most stable, representing the main dominants of the spring communities both in the 1970s and 2000s. Nearly all of the weevils that changed their abundance since the 1970s were specialized herbivores with summer adult activity. In the more humid 2000s, the abundance of some desert-steppe weevils dominating the desert communities (Phacephorus nebulosus, Metadonus anceps and especially Ptochus porcellus) dropped drastically. Most of the species whose abundance increased most strongly (Phyllobius brevis, Trachyphloeus amplithorax, Archaeophloeus inermis, Stenopterapion tenue, Sitona inops, S. longulus, Tychius spp.) are associated with Medicago romanica, the plant that considerably raised its density in the microdepressions during the “humid” phase. The data show an evident reduction of the most xerophilic (desertsteppe) components of the weevil community and an increase in the fraction of mesophilic species. These changes seem to follow a cyclic pattern.  相似文献

A new subgenus Sinomicrophyes subgen. n. with four new species Nanomicrophyes belousovi sp. n. (type species), N. korolevi sp. n., N. oblongus sp. n., and N. kabaki sp. n. from Western China is erected in the genus Nanomicrophyes Pic, 1908 previously known from a single species distributed in the Caucasus. A map of the genus Nanomicrophyes range is provided with a brief discussion of the N. cyanipennis (Weise, 1880) distribution.  相似文献

Data on the occurrence of two Eastern European weevils, Urometopus nemorum L. Arn. and Otiorhynchus albidus Stierl., in Southeastern Kazakhstan are reported. Both species are represented in Kazakhstan by parthenogenetic forms and damage cultivated and wild strawberry (Urometopus nemorum) and cherries (Otiorhynchus albidus). The species are apparently recent invaders and appeared in Kazakhstan in the early XXI century.  相似文献
