Poly(propylene succinate) (PPSu) polymers of average molecular weights from 2,800 to 13,100 g/mol were synthesized and characterized
with regard to crystallinity, thermal properties, and cytocompatibility. Higher molecular weight samples exhibited lower degree
of crystallinity and melted at lower temperatures. Melting of the polymer appeared to begin at 38°C. PPSu cytocompatibility
was investigated based on human umbilical vein endothelial cells viability in the presence of increasing concentrations of
polymer, and it was found that PPSu exhibited comparable cytocompatibility with poly(dl-lactide). The feasibility of applying PPSu as a drug carrier was shown for the first time, as solid dispersions and nanoparticles
of sodium fluvastatin based in PPSu were prepared. Drug release rates decreased with increasing the molecular weight of PPSu
in both solid dispersions and nanoparticles. For dispersions prepared from PPSu of the same molecular weight, drug release
rates increased with drug loading. It appears that PPSu applicability as a drug carrier warrants further consideration. 相似文献

Non-coronary cusp (NCC) is a rare site for ventricular arrhythmias because it does not come into direct contact with the ventricular myocardium. Instead, the NCC comes in contact with the membranous septum near the His region. We describe a case of a young man with a ventricular ectopy who was successfully ablated in the NCC. In our case the much greater prematurity in the NCC than in the His region suggests that the arrhythmic site of origin is not in the peri-His area but most likely a myocardial extension adjoining the aortic root. 相似文献

Eggerthella lenta (Eggerth 1935) Wade et al. 1999, emended Würdemann et al. 2009 is the type species of the genus Eggerthella, which belongs to the actinobacterial family Coriobacteriaceae. E. lenta is a Gram-positive, non-motile, non-sporulating pathogenic bacterium that can cause severe bacteremia. The strain described in this study has been isolated from a rectal tumor in 1935. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence, and annotation. This is the first complete genome sequence of the genus Eggerthella, and the 3,632,260 bp long single replicon genome with its 3123 protein-coding and 58 RNA genes is part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project. 相似文献

This study examined the effects of three lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains on the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus reuteri, and Pediococcus acidilactici were found to inhibit the development and growth of the worm. Compared to Escherichia coli used as the control, L. reuteri and P. acidilactici reduced the lifespan of wild-type and short-lived daf-16 worms. On the contrary, L. salivarius extended the lifespan of daf-16 worms when used live, but reduced it as UV-killed bacteria. The three LAB induced the expression of genes involved in pathogen response and inhibited the growth of tumor-like germ cells, without affecting DAF16 localization or increasing corpse cells. Our results suggest the possible use of C. elegans as a model for studying the antitumor attributes of LAB. The negative effects of these LAB strains on the nematode also indicate their potential use against parasitic nematodes. 相似文献

Monocyte-extracellular matrix interactions have been implicated in atherosclerosis pathophysiology. Laminin, the main basement membrane protein contains cell binding domains that can be cryptic, presented only after protein modification. In the present study we evaluated monocyte attachment to laminin-1 in the presence of ATP. Monocytes were derived from either healthy volunteers or patients with diabetes mellitus type II. For the estimation of monocyte attachment to laminin the myeloperoxidase assay was used. Monocytes derived from diabetic patients, showed an increased ability to attach to laminin (p = 0.0055). The presence of ATP increased the attachment of control monocytes to laminin (p = 0.0022). On the contrary, the presence of ATP did not affect the attachment of monocytes derived from diabetic patients to laminin. CCL25/CCR9 chemokine ligand/receptor pair has been reported to play an important role in small bowel (SB) immunity and inflammation. We have previously reported an aberrant SB expression of CCL25 in Crohn's disease (CD) and an increased frequency of CCR9(+) T cells in the peripheral blood of patients with SB inflammatory diseases such as CD and celiac disease. In this study, we have characterized the phenotype and effector function of CCR9(+) T cells in mucosal lymphoid tissues in CD. We show that CCR9(+) T cells isolated from mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN) draining CD SB express a more activated phenotype compared with MLN draining normal SB. Stimulation of CCR9(+) T cells isolated from CD SB lamina propria produced more IFN-gamma and IL-17 in response to anti-CD3 or IL-12/IL-18 stimulation compared with those isolated from normal SB. The addition of TL1A to the cytokine combination markedly augmented the secretion of IFN-gamma, but not IL-17, by CD lamina propria CCR9(+) T cells. CCL25 incubation of CD SB lamina propria lymphocytes and MLN lymphocytes increased their adhesion to VCAM-1/Fc in vitro. Finally, the TCRVbeta analysis of CCR9(+) T cells revealed a diverse TCRVbeta repertoire among MLN CCR9(+) T cells in patients with SB CD. Our data indicate that CCR9(+) T cells in SB CD are proinflammatory and support the rationale for the use of CCR9 antagonists for the treatment of human SB CD. 相似文献

The genomes of three representatives of the family Methylophilaceae, Methylotenera mobilis JLW8, Methylotenera versatilis 301, and Methylovorus glucosetrophus SIP3-4, all isolated from a single study site, Lake Washington in Seattle, WA, were completely sequenced. These were compared to each other and to the previously published genomes of Methylobacillus flagellatus KT and an unclassified Methylophilales strain, HTCC2181. Comparative analysis revealed that the core genome of Methylophilaceae may be as small as approximately 600 genes, while the pangenome may be as large as approximately 6,000 genes. Significant divergence between the genomes in terms of both gene content and gene and protein conservation was uncovered, including the varied presence of certain genes involved in methylotrophy. Overall, our data demonstrate that metabolic potentials can vary significantly between different species of Methylophilaceae, including organisms inhabiting the very same environment. These data suggest that genetic divergence among the members of this family may be responsible for their specialized and nonredundant functions in C? cycling, which in turn suggests means for their successful coexistence in their specific ecological niches. 相似文献
