The relationships between ground reaction forces, electromyographic activity (EMG), elasticity and running velocity were investigated at five speeds from submaximal to supramaximal levels in 11 male and 8 female sprinters. Supramaximal running was performed by a towing system. Reaction forces were measured on a force platform. EMGs were recorded telemetrically with surface electrodes from the vastus lateralis and gastrocnemius muscles, and elasticity of the contact leg was evaluated with spring constant values measured by film analysis. Data showed increases in most of the parameters studied with increasing running speed. At supramaximal velocity (10.36 +/- 0.31 m X s-1; 108.4 +/- 3.8%) the relative increase in running velocity correlated significantly (P less than 0.01) with the relative increase in stride rate of all subjects. In male subjects the relative change in stride rate correlated with the relative change of IEMG in the eccentric phase (P less than 0.05) between maximal and supramaximal runs. Running with the towing system caused a decrease in elasticity during the impact phase but this was significant (P less than 0.05) only in the female sprinters. The average net resultant force in the eccentric and concentric phases correlated significantly (P less than 0.05-0.001) with running velocity and stride length in the maximal run. It is concluded that increased neural activation in supramaximal effort positively affects stride rate and that average net resultant force as a specific force indicator is primarily related to stride length and that the values in this indicator may explain the difference in running velocity between men and women.  相似文献

Addition of epinephrine to primary cultured adult rat hepatocytes stimulated their DNA synthesis dose-dependently, especially in presence of insulin and epidermal growth factor. This effect of epinephrine was strongly inhibited by an alpha 1-antagonist, prazosin, but not by a beta-antagonist, propranolol, and was also slightly inhibited by an alpha 2-antagonist, yohinbin. These results indicate that the stimulation of DNA synthesis of hepatocytes by epinephrine is mediated predominantly by an alpha 1-action. 12-o-Tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) or Ca2+-ionophore A-23187 stimulated DNA synthesis of Swiss 3T3 cells, but did not induce DNA synthesis of hepatocytes either singly or in combination. The fact that pretreatment of hepatocytes with TPA caused down-regulation of the stimulatory effect of epinephrine on DNA synthesis of hepatocytes within 15 min suggested that the effect of epinephrine on hepatocytes is mediated by its alpha 1 receptor and that TPA activated protein kinase c in the hepatocytes. Addition of dibutyryl cGMP did not induce DNA synthesis of hepatocytes. Therefore, the alpha 1-action of epinephrine that induce stimulation of DNA synthesis of primary cultured adult rat hepatocytes was apparently not mediated by either activation of phospholipid-dependent protein kinase or Ca2+ mobilization. Possible alternative mechanism was discussed.  相似文献

In contraction of skeletal muscle a delay exists between the onset of electrical activity and measurable tension. This delay in electromechanical coupling has been stated to be between 30 and 100 ms. Thus, in rapid movements it may be possible for electromyographic (EMG) activity to have terminated before force can be detected. This study was designed to determine the dependence of the EMG-tension delay upon selected initial conditions at the time of muscle activation. The right forearms of 14 subjects were passively oscillated by a motor-driven dynamometer through flexion-extension cycles of 135 deg at an angular velocity of approximately equal to 0.5 rad/s. Upon presentation of a visual stimulus the subjects maximally contracted the relaxed elbow flexors during flexion, extension, and under isometric conditions. The muscle length at the time of the stimulus was the same in all three conditions. An on-line computer monitoring surface EMG (Biceps and Brachioradialis) and force calculated the electromechanical delay. The mean value for the delay under eccentric condition, 49.5 ms, was significantly different (p less than 0.05) from the delays during isometric (53.9 ms) and concentric activity (55.5 ms). It is suggested that the time required to stretch the series elastic component (SEC) represents the major portion of the measured delay and that during eccentric muscle activity the SEC is in a more favorable condition for rapid force development.  相似文献

The plasma noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (A) concentration responses of seven young male athletes [15 (SD 1) years] and seven adult male athletes [25 (SD 6) years] were investigated together with the serum testosterone (Tes) concentration responses in four different half-squatting exercises. The loads, number of repetitions, exercise intensity and recovery between the sets were manipulated such that different types of metabolic demand could be expected. However, the amount of work done was kept equal in each kind of exercise. After the most exhausting unit of exercise (E3; two sets of 30 repetitions with 50% of 1 repetition maximum and with 2-min recovery between the sets) the plasma NA concentration was significantly lower in the younger than in the adult subjects [15.7 (SD 7.8) vs 32.7 (SD 13.2) nmol · l−1, P < 0.05], while the A concentrations were similar. In the other three exercises no differences in the plasma catecholamine concentration responses among the groups were observed. The postexercise Tes concentrations, however, were significantly lower in the younger than in the adult subjects in every exercise unit. No correlations between the plasma catecholamine and serum Tes concentration responses were observed in any of the exercise units in either group. The results of the present study may suggest reduced sympathetic nervous activity in the younger subjects compared to the adults in response to exhausting resistance exercise. The results may also suggest that the catecholamines were less involved in eliciting an increase in Tes secretion in these resistance exercises. Accepted: 11 November 1997  相似文献

Estimation of errors in mechanical efficiency   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Errors in measurements of mechanical work, net energy expenditure and mechanical efficiency (ME) were calculated, when subjects performed isolated eccentric or concentric muscle actions and combinations of these actions [stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) exercises] with a special sledge apparatus. The relative error of mechanical work was 6.1%. When estimating the error of energy metabolism from oxygen consumption the error would be about 4% (McArdle et al. 1981). The maximum error of ME was the sum of these two values (10.1%). Obviously the error of ME was less than 5%, because 30 muscle actions were averaged and, in addition, the errors of mechanical work and energy expenditure were not in the same direction every time. It was concluded that mechanical work can be determined accurately when the force is measured as a function of the moved distance of the sledge. Thus calculation of ME can be performed quite reliably in isolated eccentric and concentric exercises. The greatest problems were, however, in the SSC exercises, where the errors were higher, because of the problems of dividing the net energy expenditure into eccentric and concentric phases. Therefore, further developments must be made to minimize the errors in measurement and calculation during SSC-exercise.  相似文献

It has been shown that intensive eccentric muscle actions lead to prolonged loss of muscle force and sarcolemmal damage. This may lead to a reduction in the excitability of the sarcolemma and contribute to the functional deficit. Experiments were carried out to test sarcolemmal excitability after eccentric elbow flexor exercise in humans. Electrically elicited surface compound muscle action potential (M-wave) properties from 30s stimulation trains (20Hz) were analyzed in biceps brachii muscle immediately after, 1h and 48h after the exercise. M-wave area, amplitude, root mean square and duration were reduced immediately after the eccentric exercise. However, no such reduction could be observed 48h after the exercise, although the maximal voluntary isometric and eccentric torques were still depressed by 12.2+/-9% (P<0.001) and 17.7+/-9% (P<0.001), respectively. Acute increase in plasma concentrations of K(+) and Ca(2+) were also observed after the eccentric exercise. These findings suggest that eccentric exercise may acutely decrease sarcolemmal excitability, which seems to be partially related to increased extracellular ion concentrations. However, disturbance of sarcolemmal excitability is not the major factor determining eccentric exercise induced prolonged loss of muscle strength, because no prolonged impairment was observed in any of the studied M-wave parameters.  相似文献

Early flight phase (approximately 40 m) of the athletes participating in the final round of the individual large hill ski jumping competition in Salt Lake City Olympics was filmed with two high-speed pan & tilt video cameras. The results showed that jumpers' steady flight position was almost completed within 0.5s. The most significant correlation with the length of the jump was found in the angle between the skis and body (r=.714, p.001 at 1.1s after the take-off). This particular phase seemed to be important because the ski angle of attack was also related to the jumping distance at the same phase. Although the more upright ski position relative to flight path resulted in longer jumping distance, the winner of the competition had significantly lower ski position as compared to the other good jumpers. This may be due to the high altitude (>2000 m) of the ski jumping stadium in this competition. Because of the low air density, the aerodynamic forces were also low and this probably caused less skillful jumpers to lean too much forward at this phase. Maintenance of speed seemed to be emphasized in this particular competition.  相似文献

Rhizobial inoculation has a positive impact on plants growth; however, there is little information about its effect on soil microbial communities and their activity in the rhizosphere. It was therefore necessary to test the effect of inoculation of Acacia senegal (L.) Willd. seedlings with selected rhizobia on plant growth, structure and diversity of soil bacterial communities and soil functioning in relation to plant provenance and soil origin. In order to carry out this experiment, three A. senegal seeds provenance from Kenya, Niger, and Senegal were inoculated with selected rhizobial strains. They have been further grown during 4 months in greenhouse conditions in two non-disinfected soils, Dahra and Goudiry coming respectively from arid and semi-arid areas. The principal component analysis (ACP) showed an inoculation effect on plant growth, rhizospheric bacterial diversity and soil functioning. However, the performances of the rhizobial strains varied in relation to the seed provenance and the soil origin. The selected rhizobial strains, the A. senegal provenance and the soil origin have modified the structure and the diversity of soil bacterial communities as measured by principal component analysis/denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analyses. It is interesting to note that bacterial communities of Dahra soil were highly structured according to A. senegal provenance, whereas they were structured in relation to rhizobial inoculation in Goudiry soil. Besides, the impact of inoculation on soil microbial activities measured by fluorescein diacetate analyses varied in relation to plant provenance and soil origin. Nevertheless, total microbial activity was about two times higher in Goudiry, arid soil than in Dahra, semi-arid soil. Our results suggest that the rhizobial inoculation is a suitable tool for improving plants growth and soil fertility. Yet, the impact is dependent on inoculants, plant provenance and soil origin. It will, therefore, be crucial to identify the appropriate rhizobial strains and plant provenance or species in relation to the soil type.  相似文献

The red spider mite Tetranychus evansi Baker and Pritchard is a pest of tomato in East and Southern Africa. It is probably native to South America. Three models were established to identify priority areas for the search of natural enemies in South America for classical biological control of this pest in Africa. The models were based on the concept of “fundamental ecological niche”, predicting regions in South America that have similar environmental conditions to areas where the mite is a problem in Africa, using Desktop-GARP (Genetic Algorithm for Rule-set Production). Based on the model established with data sets from Kenya and Zimbabwe, it was determined that priority areas include areas in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as some restricted areas in other South American countries.  相似文献

Both contraction type and ageing may cause changes in H-reflex excitability. H reflex is partly affected by presynaptic inhibition that may also be an important factor in the control of MU activation. The purpose of the study was to examine age related changes in H-reflex excitability and motor unit activation patterns in dynamic and in isometric contractions. Ten younger (YOUNG) and 13 elderly (OLD) males performed isometric (ISO), concentric (CON) and eccentric (ECC) plantarflexions with submaximal activation levels (20% and 40% of maximal soleus surface EMG). Intramuscular EMG data was analyzed utilizing an intramuscular spike amplitude frequency histogram method. Average H/M ratio was always lowest in ECC (n.s.). Mean spike amplitude increased with activation level (P < .05), whereas no significant differences were found between contraction types. Both H-reflex excitability, which may be due to an increase in presynaptic inhibition, and mean spike frequency were higher in YOUNG compared to OLD. In OLD the mean spike frequency was significantly smaller in CON compared to ISO. Lack of difference in mean spike amplitude and frequency across contraction types in YOUNG would imply a similar activation strategy, whereas the lower frequency in dynamic contractions in OLD could be related to synergist muscle behavior.  相似文献
