Lysolecithin was added to spinach chloroplasts in suspension,and its effect as a detergent on structure and electron transportactivities was examined. At low concentrations of lysolecithin,the activities of FeCN photoreduction and O2-linked DCPIPH2photo-oxidation were stimulated but the photoreduction of NADPwas not enhanced and decreased with an increase in concentration.Absorption bands over the whole visible region were intensifiedwithout any shifts. At high concentrations, the activities ofFeCN photoreduction and O2-linked DCPIPH2 photo-oxidation decreasedfrom a maximum to 1050% of the control activity, andNADP photoreduction was completely inhibited. Absorption bandswere further intensified and the red band was slightly shifted.Results indicate that lysolecithin treatment is useful in chloroplastbiochemistry. An anthropometric survey was made on the seven tribes in Sarawak, Malaysia. In order to study their physical interrelationship, the data obtained were used for multivariate statistical analysis including Mahalanobis's distance and two-dimensional representation of group configuration with canonical variates. The conclusions were as follows; the Land Dayak are different from other tribes; the Kayan and Kenyah resemble each other; the Iban, Malay and Kedayan are close enough to make a cluster; and the Land Dayak, Kedayan and Melanau, being different from one another, do not seem to be of the same origin. 相似文献

Summary 67 kDa elastin-binding protein (RL-67EBP) has been isolated from neonatal rat lungs by the use of an elastin-coupled affinity column, followed by elution with either lactose or synthetic elastin hexapeptide (VGVAPG), and immunohistochemistry has been used on perinatal rat lungs to determine the tissue localization of this protein. No immunoreactive structures occur in fetal lungs, or in the lungs of day-1 and-4 neonates. On day-7 after birth, immunoreactive cells appear in the subepithelial connective tissue of the intrapulmonary airways, from day-10 on, these cells become evenly distributed in the alveolar parenchyma. Occasionally, some cells occur in the alveolar air space, being free from the surface of the alveolar septum. Unpermeabilized cells obtained by bronchoalveolar lavage, show cell surface immunoreactivity, indicating that RL-67EBP is expressed on the surface membrane of the cells. From these findings, it is suggested that the immunoreactive cells are blood-borne monocytes, and that RL-67EBP may function as an elastin peptide receptor by which monocytes mobilize through interstitial connective tissue during their migration from blood to alveolar air space, where they eventually differentiate into alveolar macrophages. 相似文献

Summary The epithelium of the intrapulmonary airways of the chicken lung has been studied by fluorescence and electron microscopy. Numerous intensely yellow-fluorescent cells occur in the epithelium of the primary and secondary bronchi. The cell cytoplasm contains characteristic granular vesicles with an electron-dense central core. The vesicles react positively to chromaffm and argentaffin treatment, indicating that they are possible storage sites for amines. Synapse-like junctions occur between the granular cells and the intraepithelial nerve endings, filled with numerous mitochondria, suggesting that these granular cells may have a dual function as both receptor and endocrine cell. 相似文献

This review article focused on the primary neurotransmitters involved in transmission from the otolith to the vestibular nucleus (VN), especially in relation to the neurotransmission to the VN neurons (gravity-sensitive neurons) activated by tilt stimulation. The medial vestibular nucleus (MVN) neurons were classified in 8 types (alpha-theta) according to the patterns in response to the clockwise and counterclockwise tilt-stimulations. The tilt-induced firing was inhibited by GDEE (a non-selective glutamate receptor antagonist) and/or atropine (a muscarinic receptor antagonist). Thus, glutamate and/or acetylcholine may serve as the primary neurotransmitters. This conclusion is supported by the previous findings that glutamate exists in the vestibular nerve and is released from the nerve besides the presence of glutamate receptor subtypes in the VN. In addition, acetylcholine induced atropine-reversible firing of MVN neurons, and the enzymes involved in acetylcholine synthesis/metabolism are also found in the VN. Furthermore, serotonin was found to inhibit the MVN neuronal activities via the 5-HT1A receptors. As such, the 5-HT1A agonist, tandospirone, may be effective in preventing and/or treating motion sickness and/or space sickness. 相似文献
