Kinetic and mechanism of interaction of L-cysteine with alkaline phosphatase from calf intestines

The effect of L-cysteine on activity of hydrophobic forms of calf intestine alkaline phosphatase was investigated. Apparent inhibition constants for mixed type inhibition have been determined. The kinetic results allow supposing that the mechanism of equilibrium establishment between the inhibitor and enzyme involves the initial rapid formation of intermediate complex and a subsequent slower step leading to its stabilization in the substrate binding site. The microscopic rate constants for slow step of interaction of L-cysteine with alkaline phosphatase have been calculated. Effect of pH on apparent inhibition constants and kinetic parameters for enzymatic reaction in the presence of L-cysteine was analysed.     

Current comprehensive diagnosis of pancreatobiliary cancer complicated by jaundice syndrome

The study was undertaken to enhance the efficiency of diagnosis of pancreatobiliary cancer complicated by jaundice by using the potentialities of currently available instrumental studies at most. The data of examination of 256 patients with this disease are presented. Based on diagnostic findings, the authors have constructed a diagnostic model of precision recognition of cancer of the extrahepatic bile ducts, pancreatic head, Vater's papilla.     

Extramedullary hematopoiesis in a case of benign mixed mammary tumor in a female dog: cytological and histopathological assessment

Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) is defined as the presence of hematopoietic stem cells such as erythroid and myeloid lineage plus megakaryocytes in extramedullary sites like liver, spleen and lymph nodes and is usually associated with either bone marrow or hematological disorders. Mammary EMH is a rare condition either in human and veterinary medicine and can be associated with benign mixed mammary tumors, similarly to that described in this case.     

Inhibiting properties of stable nitroxyl radicals in reactions of linoleic acid and linoleyl alcohol oxidation catalyzed by 5-lipoxygenase

The inhibiting effects of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and its 4-substituted derivatives in reactions of linoleyl acid or linoleyl alcohol oxidation catalyzed by potato tuber 5-lipoxygenase were investigated. Inhibiting properties of stable nitroxyl radicals in presence of lubrol and SDS were reduced at the transition from TEMPO to 4-hydroxy-TEMPO or 4-amino-TEMPO and increased at use of adamantane-1-carboxylic or 3-methyladamantane-1-carboxylic acid 1-oxyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-4-yl esters. Enzyme activity at saturating concentrations of inhibitor was not suppressed completely, and decreased up to the certain level determined by the substrate nature. The dependence of partial inhibition efficiency on rotational correlation time of stable nitroxides in model micellar systems were analysed. It was supposed that 5-lipoxygenase inhibition includes the interaction of hydrophobic nitroxide with radical intermediate formed in enzymatic process.     

Neuroprotective effect of N-acylethanolamines in chronic morphine dependence. III. Influence on the content of neurotransmitters in the rat brain

The effect of the mixture of saturated and unsaturated N-acylethanolamines (NAEs) on the functional activity of catecholamine- and serotoninergic systems of the rat brain with experimental morphine dependence was investigated. A significant decrease of dopamine levels was found in the hypothalamus, midbrain and cortex of rats with morphine dependence. The administration of NAEs to rats with morphine dependence in time course dose of 35 mg/kg markedly increased the levels of dopamine in the hypothalamus, middle brain and cortex. Simultaneously the significant decrease of serotonine content was observed in the midbrain and cortex. The results obtained suggest that one of the important aspects of neuroprotective action of NAEs under morphine dependence is the restoration of dopamine content in the brain.     

Clinical and epidemiological description of acute intestinal infections in children of the lower Volga region

In accordance with the results of laboratory diagnostics, carried out by bacteriological, serological and PCR methods, the etiological structure of acute bacterial and viral intestinal infections, most frequently occurring in children of the Astrakhan region, is presented. An important role of viral diarrhea cases, prevailing among the total number of cases of intestinal infections in children, is emphasized. The data on the irregular distribution of morbidity by months, especially in viral intestinal infections and salmonellosis with the prevalent involvement of children aged up to 2 years into the epidemic process, are presented. Infections affect mainly children given artificial feeding, as well as those with complicated premorbid state and frequently having acute respiratory viral infections.     

Current progress trends in and prospects for radiation diagnosis

The paper describes the developmental stages of radiological diagnosis from the solution of health problems, by studying the substrate "shadow", to the possibility of investigating superfine changes at the level of molecular radiology. A number of lines forming a service in relation to the country's economic, technological, and social development are identified. Priority strategic tasks are defined.
