It is shown that the stimulation of eukaryotic polypeptide synthesis by spermidine is due to the stimulation at the level of initiation by following reasons. The incorporation of formylmethionine into polypeptides was stimulated by spermidine at the same degree to the incorporation of leucine into polypeptides. Fluorography of the polypeptides formed showed that the number of chains of individual protein synthesized was larger when spermidine was added. The formation of the complex of Met-tRNAf, globin mRNA and 40-S ribosomal subunits was stimulated by spermidine.  相似文献

Summary The 30S ribosomal proteins from Bacillus stearothermophilus strains 799 and 10 were purified and correlated with those from E. coli by comparing their two-dimensional electrophoretic mobility, immunological cross-reaction, molecular weight, amino acid composition and partial amino acid sequence. Fluoren-9-carboxylic acid acts not only as an auxin but also as an gibberellin-antagonist. In the standard pea straight test (S5 section) for auxin it stimulated elongation, the optimum concentration being 10 mg/l. On the other hand, it inhibited elongation at 0.1 mg/l. This inhibitory effect was more marked when younger tissue (S1 section) which also responds to gibberellin was used. Interaction of FCA and IAA in the S5 section has shown that at higher concentration of IAA there seemed to be a suppraoptimal effect, indicating that FCA acted as an auxin. However, in the S1 section, the stimulating effect of GA3 was markedly inhibited by 0.1 mg/l FCA; 10 mg/l FCA was either additive or less than additive to GA3. In the cucumber hypocotyl test FCA itself was inactive up to 100 μg/plant, but it inhibited the GA3-induced elongation. This inhibition was overcome by increasing the dosage of GA3. In the same material, the IAA-induced elongation was not affected by FCA. These results indicate that whether FCA acts as an auxin or a gibberellin-antagonist depends on whether the tissue is sensitive to gibberellin and/or auxin.  相似文献

The growth and IAA-oxidase activity of light-grown cucumber seedlings (cv. Aonagajibae) were investigated in response to GA3 and IAA. Both GA3 and IAA induced significant elongation of the hypocotyl. The fresh and dry weights of the hypocotyl increased due to GA3 or IAA treatment, whereas no significant change was observed in the cotyledons of GA3-treated seedlings as compared with the controls. The fresh and dry weights of IAA-treated cotyledons were both lower than those of controls. Treatment with GA3 or IAA resulted in retardation of IAA-oxidase activity in the hypocotyl and cotyledons. The degree of retardation was less in the cotyledons than in the hypocotyl. An inverse relationship was recognized between GA3- or IAA-induced elongation and IAA-oxidase activity in the hypocotyl. The auxin-mediated mechanism for gibberellin action was discussed.  相似文献

Reproductive behavior and early life history of the white spotted snapper,Lutjanus siellatus Akazaki, are described from aquarium observations. Spawning took place between a female and 2–12 males in the early hours of each evening from mid-May to mid-June, 1984. Six easily distinguishable behavior patterns were involved in the spawning sequence: a) Schooling; b) Searching; c) Nuzzling; d) Rushing toward the surface; e) Spawning; and f) Post spawning. Abstract Bordetella bronchiseptica dermonecrotic toxin was purified by a simplified method. The method consisted of SP Toyopearl 650M chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography on a TSK gel G3000SW column. 47.5% of the activity of the crude cell extract was recovered. The purified toxin behaved as a homogeneous protein in sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, high performance liquid chromatography, and agar gel double diffusion tests.  相似文献

Pyrenoid proteins and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase-oxygenase(RuBisCO) in the green alga Bryopsis maxima were purified tohigh degrees and their peptide compositions were studied bySDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. RuBisCO had a largesubunit of 50 kDa and a small one of 16 kDa. The apparent molecularweight of the purified RuBisCO was estimated as 460 kDa by gelfiltration. Pyrenoid proteins had two major polypeptides: 52kDa and 17 kDa. The peptide map of the 52 kDa pyrenoid polypeptidecoincided well with that of the large subunit of RuBisCO, stronglysuggesting that the major component of the pyrenoid of thisalga was RuBisCO. We attempted to survey the distribution ofRuBisCO in the chloroplasts. The results suggested that muchof the RuBisCO of Bryopsis maxima was localized in the pyrenoid.The pyrenoid also contained more than 10 minor polypeptidesnot found in the RuBisCO fraction. The minor polypeptides comprisedabout 15% of the total pyrenoid protein and differed from thepolypeptides of the thylakoid membranes and from those foundin the starch grains surrounding the pyrenoid. Gibberellin A3 (GA3) was found to reduce the starch contentin chloroplasts isolated from light-grown cucumber (cv. Aonagajibai)hypocotyls. Chloroplasts incubated with 50 mM sucrose showedan increase in starch content. The GA3-induced reduction occurredboth in the presence and absence of exogenous sucrose.
