Conclusion This outline of the instrumentality of the technology/technique of representation in postcommunist Serbia is but a brief attempt to address the modes of production of identity in postmodernism, its legitimation in/of dominant discourse, and their embedding in common sense language and practice. Postcommunist Serbia is obviously a special situation:23 a particular case of the social appropriation and construction of enjoyment and desire, intimately related to the desires and various enjoyments of the members of the community, precarious in its collective affirmation. Based on the idea of contingent collectivity, faction-fiction, in its meta-critique seems to signal the emergence of a new régime in the relation between historical reality and its representation in historical narratives.This new régime, obviously, cannot be exhaustively (or even extensively) discussed in a brief paper like this one. Nevertheless, some (three) points of departure for the general discussion of postmodern modes of representation are still possible. One such point of departure is the contingence of representation, another the apparent paradigmatic similarity between trash talk-shows and Echoes and Reactions. Variance deficit in the number of species per sampling unit, as compared to a null model with species occurring independently of each other has been considered by various authors to be evidence for niche limitation. I show that simpler mechanisms could explain this phenomenon. Of those, the competition of individuals for space limits the number of individuals per sampling unit, resulting in decrease of variance in species richness. Testing the proportions of species belonging to various guilds seems to be more ecologically interesting, although here also the variance deficit can hardly be taken as reliable evidence for niche limitation.  相似文献

Exploratory data analysis based on multivariate statistical analysis techniques was introduced as a new approach to expressing the toxicity of chemical substances at the simultaneous acceptance of various cell models. Using principal component analysis and cluster analysis methods the toxicity of chlorinated phenol derivatives on employing some of the cell models (chlorococcal algae, cyanobacteria, bacteria, micromycetes, plant and animal cells) was characterized. The previous empirical experience that the toxicity of chlorinated phenol derivatives will increase with a growing degree of chlorination and that the presence of the methoxy group will cause a lowering of the toxic effect was demonstrated. The current approaches to the study of clonal plants are reviewed. Most studies concentrate at the level of the ramet and clonal fragment exploring the “microscopic” view of clonal plants, dealing with the translocation of resources, clonal integration, plasticity of growth etc. The information gained, by this approach can be used in the understanding of higher levels of organization within the clonal system either with the help of spatially explicit modelling techniques, or by using means and distributions of size within a population instead of studying individual ramets separately. Plant scientists use the term clone with two meanings, viz. (a) a set of physiologically connected, but potentially independent ramets, and (b) a set of genetically identical, but potentially physically separated individuals. The overlap of these terms differs between individual plant species, depending on the extent of physical separation of the ramets and the degree of physiological integration between the ramets; the lower the frequency of ramet separation, the closer are the physiological and genetic concepts of the clone. Three critical areas seem to be neglected in clonal plant research: (a) the interrelationship between hierarchical levels in clonal plants, (b) the particular spatial structure of their environment, and (c) the importance of clonal plants in different ecological communities.  相似文献

The coenzyme-independent dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (EC 1.3.3.1) linking the pyrimidine biosynthetic pathway to the respiratory chain, was ultracytochemically localized by the tetrazolium method in derepressed exponential-phase cultures ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae. Biochemical analysis showed a considerable variation of this enzyme activity in inverse proportion to the aeration of the yeast cultures. The assay also showed that after prefixation of yeast cells with 1% glutaraldehyde at 0°C for 20 min, approximately one-half of the enzyme activity was preserved. The cytochemical reaction mixture contained dihydroorotate (2 mmol/L), thiocarbamyl nitroblue tetrazolium (0.44 mmol/L), phenazine methosulfate (0.16 mmol/L) and KCN (1.7 mmol/L) in Tris-HCl buffer (100 mmol/L) of pH 8.0. The osmicated formazan deposits featured envelopes of mitochondria and of nuclei and were prominent in the mitochondrial inclusions and in the vacuolar membranes. The latter sites of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase activity represent biosynthetic activity in yeast vacuoles, still generally assumed to function as yeast lysosomes and storage organelles. In the light of the generally observed invasions of juvenile yeast vacuoles into mitochondria, the enzymic sites observed in mitochondrial inclusion were considered as evidence of the interactions of yeast vacuoles and mitochondria. Transfer of vacuolar membranes with dihydroorotate dehydrogenase activity into mitochondrial matrix is suggested.  相似文献

Summary The antitumor and antimetastatic activities of the water-soluble peptidoglycan monomer GlnNAc-Mur-NAc-L-Ala-D-iso-Gln-meso-diamminopimelic acid (-NH2)-D-Ala-D-Ala (PGM), which has immunostimulant effects, have been evaluated in CBA mice bearing MCa mammary carcinoma. The antineoplastic effects of PGM depend strictly on the dosage and treatment schedule used. Though a significant inhibition of the primary tumor growth is observed over a wide range of dosage, only the IV administration of daily doses of 50 mg/kg/day on days 1, 5, 10, 15 inhibits spontaneous lung metastasis formation and in parallel prolongs the survival time of the treated mice. The magnitude of the antimetastatic effects of PGM depends on the degree of dissemination of the tumor, and is greater when the number of metastatic foci is low. Examination of the therapeutic potential of PGM in combination with surgery has further indicated that the timing of administration plays an important role in the overall effectiveness of this substance. A 5-day interval is necessary between two consecutive injections for the induction of significant increases of the survival times.  相似文献

The influence of phenolic and humic acids on the activity of glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase in the roots of pea under aseptic conditions has been investigated. It seems clear that vanillic and protocatechuic acids inhibit the enzyme activity in the excised roots of pea, but their dry weight increases in relation to the control. Gallic acid stimulates the G-6-PD activity in the roots of whole plants. The humic acids influence neither the enzyme activity nor the dry weight of pea seedlings after short-term treatment.  相似文献

The present paper describes isolation and purification ofa-hemolysin ofEscherichia coli. The optimum production medium was found to be the Todd—Hewitt broth.
