Microscopic fungi of 47 species and 24 genera isolated from radioactive soil and other radioactive substrates of a 10-km alienation zone from Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant were investigated. Only 19 % of such fungi showed toward the ionizing irradiation source positive radiotropism. Strains with best-defended radiotropism responded to the influence of weak white light. Both of these responses (radiotropism and photostimulation) were of an adaptive nature, were found in both dark-colored and light-colored micromycetes and were probably a strain-related feature. 相似文献

The possibility of accelerating oil degradation by an enrichment culture of oil-oxidizing microorganisms in the presence of bacteria of the genus Rhodococcus and microbial surfactants was studied. It was shown that the degree of consumption of crude oil (2% v/v) after 192 h of enrichment culture growth reached 84%. Inoculation of the active hydrocarbon-oxidizing strain Rhodococcus erythropolis EK-1 and exogenous surfactants produced by Pseudomonas sp. PS-27 increased this degree to 90% and 93-94%, respectively. Dosimetric models have been developed to estimate the exposure doses of woody plants growing in the area contaminated by long-lived radionuclides. The models are parameterized based on the data obtained from the experimental plots in the south-west districts of the Bryansk region affected by radioactive fallout of the Chernobyl NPP accident. Doses are estimated to generative organs of pine trees from these plots. The potential of biosurfactant PS to permeabilize bacterial cells of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis on growing (in vivo) and resting (in vitro) cells was studied. Biosurfactant was shown to have a neutral or detrimental effect
on the growth of Gram-positive strains, and this was dependent on the surfactant concentration. The growth of Gram-negative
strains was not influenced by the presence of biosurfactant in the media. Cell permeabilization with biosurfactant PS was

During the semester and immediately before an examination, changes in the heart rate variability, blood pressure, and state anxiety induced by examination stress, as well as the dependence of these changes on the probabilistic prediction and actual examination mark, were investigated. Before an examination, most students exhibited an increase in state anxiety, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate; the last of these is connected with an increase in the LF/HF ratio. The behavior of the cardiovascular system of the students (who were females) under psychoemotional stress varied considerably depending on how well they were prepared for the examination and on the subjective prediction of success. AIM: The aim of this work was to study the effect of the novel surfactant PS from Pseudomonas sp. S-17 on Saccharomyces cerevisiae 83-20 yeast cells and to compare it with the effect of the well known surfactant Triton X-100. METHODS AND RESULTS: The effect of surfactants was investigated on the cells during growth, and on the separated cells. The cell-permeabilizing effect of surfactants was studied by following the release of protein and some enzyme activities. The biosurfactant did not affect the culture growth kinetics, and altered the polypeptide profiles of cells and membrane proteins in the same way as Triton X-100. CONCLUSION: Results of this study demonstrate that biosurfactant PS and Triton X-100 have a similar type of action, mainly surface located, and that they do not affect the intracellular structures of yeast cells. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: A novel surfactant PS was isolated from Pseudomonas sp. S-17. A mild effect of PS on yeast cells was demonstrated. The results indicate the ecological safety of the biosurfactant and its potential use in the development of environmentally-benign and efficient cleaning technologies. 相似文献
