Blood samples from over 70 pregnant women have been examined for the presence of four prostaglandins. Samples obtained from women not in labour at different gestation periods and at term contained no detectable amounts of prostaglandins. Prostaglandin F2α was present in samples of blood obtained during normal spontaneous labour. The appearance of this substance in the blood preceded the uterine contraction. Whether prostaglandins play a part in the process of normal labour is still conjectural. 相似文献

The effect of prostaglandin E1 and 17 phenyl trinor PGE2 on nasal patency has been studied in healthy volunteers and in patients with vasomotor and allergic rhinitis. Both drugs applied topically increased nasal patency. The effect of a single dose of either compound lasted for several hours. Prostaglandin E1 produced nasal irritation and throbbing, lacrimation, headache and sore throat. Except for occasional brief nasal irritation, these side effects were not encountered with 17 phenyl trinor PGE2. 相似文献

Prostaglandins A1, A2 and 15 Epi-A2 were administered orally to human male volunteers. Prostaglandin A1 and 15 Epi-A2 did not consistently affect gastric acid secretion either in terms of the pH values within individual tests or in respect of comparative control test data. Prostaglandin A2 administration resulted in a transient inhibition of secretion in all 6 subjects tested, with the pH rising above 6 in every case.It is concluded that none of these compounds is likely to have therapeutic application to the peptic ulceration problem. 相似文献

Abnormality and disease in sponges have been widely reported, yet how sponge-associated microbes respond correspondingly remains inconclusive. Here, individuals of the sponge Carteriospongia foliascens under abnormal status were collected from the Rabigh Bay along the Red Sea coast. Microbial communities in both healthy and abnormal sponge tissues and adjacent seawater were compared to check the influences of these abnormalities on sponge-associated microbes. In healthy tissues, we revealed low microbial diversity with less than 100 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) per sample. Cyanobacteria, affiliated mainly with the sponge-specific species “Candidatus Synechococcus spongiarum,” were the dominant bacteria, followed by Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria. Intraspecies dynamics of microbial communities in healthy tissues were observed among sponge individuals, and potential anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria were found. In comparison with healthy tissues and the adjacent seawater, abnormal tissues showed dramatic increase in microbial diversity and decrease in the abundance of sponge-specific microbial clusters. The dominated cyanobacterial species Candidatus Synechococcus spongiarum decreased and shifted to unspecific cyanobacterial clades. OTUs that showed high similarity to sequences derived from diseased corals, such as Leptolyngbya sp., were found to be abundant in abnormal tissues. Heterotrophic Planctomycetes were also specifically enriched in abnormal tissues. Overall, we revealed the microbial communities of the cyanobacteria-rich sponge, C. foliascens, and their impressive shifts under abnormality. 相似文献

We conducted surveys in Côte d'Ivoire's Bandama–Sassandra interfluvial region to assess the abundance of primates and investigate further a population of black‐and‐white colobus monkey whose taxonomic position has been debated. Primates were encountered in five of eight forests surveyed. The most common primates were Campbell's guenons and lesser spot nosed monkeys. Roloway monkeys were located in one reserve (Dassioko FR), sooty mangabeys in two (Dassioko and Port Gauthier FR) and olive colobus in three reserves (Dassioko, Port Gauthier, Bakadou) as well as one forest patch was considered a sacred grove (Grébouo I FG). Red colobus and chimpanzees were never observed. The only black‐and‐white colobus encountered were located in a forest adjacent to the Grébouo I village. The coat of this population is similar to that of Colobus vellerosus; however, vocal data are more complex. In one vocal attribute, the Grébouo I colobus is similar to Colobus polykomos while in another it is similar to C. vellerosus. We hope that by investigating the taxonomy of the Grébouo 1 colobus population, highlighting the conservation value of sacred forests and advocating for more active law enforcement in protected reserves, we can prevent the extirpation of all primates within the Bandama–Sassandra interfluvial zone region. 相似文献
