on mouse uterine tissue sections on days 1–9, 11, 13, and 15 of pregnancy. c-Abl was highly upregulated in the uterine luminal
epithelium and other endometrial structures including glands and blood vessels in pre-receptive and receptive endometrium.
Therefore these results demonstrate a role for c-Abl in uterine remodeling during decidualization, implantation, and placentation

Protection of the patients against the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy regimens has attracted increasing interest of clinicians and practitioners. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), which is extracted from the propolis of honeybee hives as an active component, specifically inhibits nuclear factor κB at micromolar concentrations and show ability to stop 5-lipoxygenase-catalysed oxygenation of linoleic acid and arachidonic acid. CAPE has antiinflammatory, antiproliferative, antioxidant, cytostatic, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antineoplastic properties. The purpose of this review is to summarize in vivo and in vitro usage of CAPE to prevent the chemotherapy-induced and radiotherapy-induced damages and side effects in experimental animals and to develop a new approach for the potential usage of CAPE in clinical trial as a protective agent during chemotherapy and radiotherapy regimens. 相似文献
We investigated whether treatment with imidacloprid would induce morphological changes, DNA fragmentation, antioxidant imbalance and apoptosis in the reproductive system of developing male rats. Twenty-four male rats were included in this 90-day study, starting at 7?days of age. The rats were divided into four groups. The first group was used as control. The second, third and fourth groups received oral 0.5-, 2- and 8-mg/kg imidacloprid, respectively. Serum, sperm and testis samples were collected from all groups at the end of the experimental period. The weights of the epididymis, vesicula seminalis, epididymal sperm concentration, body weight gain, testosterone and reduced glutathione values were lower in the imidacloprid-treated groups than that in the controls. All treated groups had increased lipid peroxidation, fatty acid concentrations and higher rates of abnormal sperm. Apoptosis and fragmentation of seminal DNA were higher in rats treated at the two higher doses of imidacloprid. Variation in regional body composition between genders may change the degree of pressure created by the tightness of cuff used during blood flow restriction training resulting in changes in the level of neuromuscular activation. This study investigates the effects of tightness of cuff and skin and subcutaneous fat thickness on electromyography (EMG) amplitude (RMS) and median frequency (MDF) during exercises and strength testing. Subjects performed knee-extension exercises with varying tightness of cuff while using EMG to measure changes in neuromuscular response. EMG RMS was significantly affected by tightness of cuff and skin and subcutaneous fat thickness. The strongest individual variable for the changes in MDF was also skin and subcutaneous-fat thickness. The changes in EMG response due to tightness of cuff and the effect of skin and subcutaneous fat thickness on tightness of cuff prove the importance of details on BFR protocol and leg composition on neuromuscular function during BFR exercises. 相似文献
AIMS: To determine the effect of Propionibacterium acidipropionici, alone or in combination with Lactobacillus plantarum, on the fermentation and aerobic stability of wheat, sorghum and maize silages. METHODS AND RESULTS: The inoculants were applied at 1.0 x 10(6) CFU g(-1). Silages with no additives served as control. Fresh forages were sampled prior to ensiling. Three jars per treatment were sampled on days 2, 4, 8, 16 and 60 after ensiling, for chemical and microbiological analysis. At the end of the ensiling period, the silages were subjected to an aerobic stability test. The P. acidipropionici-inoculated silages had significantly higher levels of acetic and propionic acid than the L. plantarum or P. acidipropionici + L. plantarum-inoculated silages (P < 0.05). Therefore, yeast activity was impaired in the P. acidipropionici-inoculated silages. As a result, P. acidipropionici decreased CO(2) production and improved aerobic stability of wheat, sorghum and maize silages. However, the combination of P. acidipropionici + L. plantarum did not improve aerobic stability of the silages. CONCLUSIONS: The P. acidipropionici was very effective in protecting the wheat, sorghum and maize silages exposed to air under laboratory conditions, probably because the acidic environment under ensiling conditions is favourable for this micro-organism. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: The use of P. acidipropionici, as a silage inoculant can improve the aerobic stability of silages by inhibition of yeast activity. 相似文献
Maize is a low-temperature (LT)-sensitive plant and its physiological responses towards LT of temperate regions developed is an adaptive trait. To further our understanding about the response of maize to LT at the physiological and photosynthesis level, we conducted Infrared Gas Analysis (IRGA using LICOR6400-XT in 45-day-old grown two maize genotypes, one from temperate region (Gurez-Kashmir Himalayas), viz., Gurez local (Gz local), and another from tropics (Gujarat), viz., GM6. This study was carried out to evaluate the underlying physiological mechanisms in the two differentially temperature-tolerant maize genotypes. Net photosynthetic rate (A/PN), 18.253 in Gz local and 25.587 (µmol CO2 m?2 s?1) in GM6; leaf conductance (gs), 0.0102 in Gz local and 0.0566 (mmol H2O m?2 s?1) in GM6; transpiration rate (E), 0.5371 in Gz local and 2.9409 (mmol H2O m?2 s?1) in GM6; and water use efficiency (WUE), 33.9852 in Gz local and 8.7224 (µmol CO2 mmol H2O?1) in GM6, were recorded under ambient conditions. Also, photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) (Fv/Fm), 0.675 in Gz local and 0.705 in GM6; maximum photochemical efficiency (Fv′/Fm′), 0.310234 in Gz local and 0.401391 in GM6; photochemical quenching (qP), 0.2375 in Gz local and 0.2609 in GM6; non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), 2.0036 in Gz local and 1.1686 in GM6; effective yield of PSII (ФPSII), 0.0789 in Gz local and 0.099 in GM6; and electron transport rate (ETR), 55.3152 in Gz local and 68.112 in GM6, were also evaluated in addition to various response curves, like light intensities and temperature. We observed that light response curves show the saturation light intensity requirement of 1600 µmol for both the genotypes, whereas temperature response curves showed the optimum temperature requirement for Gz local as 20 °C and for GM6 it was found to be 35 °C. The results obtained for each individual parameter and other correlational studies indicate that IRGA forms a promising route for quick and reliable screening of various stress-tolerant valuable genotypes, forming the first study of its kind.
Cytokines had important role in the pathogenesis of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). The aim of this study is to investigate if IFN-alpha has a prophylaxic effect on experimental NEC development in newborn rat pups. Twenty eight Wistar Albino newborn rat pups were divided into three groups. Control group rats were breast-fed, NEC group and interferon (IFN) group rat pups were hand-fed with premature newborn formula. IFN-alpha was administered subcutaneously at a dose of 50,000 IU/rat/day in IFN group. NEC was induced experimentally by cold stress twice a day in IFN and NEC groups. On the fourth day, the rats were killed, and all the intestine were removed to determine the tissue level of malonaldehyde (MDA) and histologic changes. The microscopic lesions in the NEC group rats were virtually the same as those seen in neonatal NEC, with severe separation of submucosa and/or lamina propria, loss of villi and in some cases necrosis to extention the muscularis. In contrast, in the rats treated with IFN, lesions were moderate separation of submucosa and/or lamina propria, edema in submucosal and muscular layers. Intestinal injury score and MDA levels in NEC group were significantly higher than in the IFN group (P<0.05). In conclusion it was suggested that IFN-alpha was effective in reducing the severity of NEC in rat pups. 相似文献
Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest in bioorganic fertilizers as part of sustainable agricultural practices to alleviate drawbacks of intensive farming practices. N2-fixing and P-solubilizing bacteria are important in plant nutrition increasing N and P uptake by the plants, and playing a significant role as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria in the biofertilization of crops. A study was conducted in order to investigate the effects of two N2-fixing (OSU-140 and OSU-142) and a strain of P-solubilizing bacteria (M-13) in single, dual and three strains combinations on sugar beet and barley yields under field conditions in 2001 and 2002. The treatments included: (1) Control (no inoculation and fertilizer), (2) Bacillus OSU-140, (3) Bacillus OSU-142, (4) Bacillus M-13, (5) OSU-140 + OSU-142, (6) OSU-140 + M-13, (7) OSU-142 + M-13, (8) OSU-140 + OSU-142 + M-13, (9) N, (10) NP. N and NP plots were fertilized with 120 kg N ha–1 and 120 kg N ha–1 + 90 kg P ha- for sugar beet and 80 kg N ha–1 and 80 kg N ha–1 + 60 kg P ha–1 for barley. The experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with five replicates. All inoculations and fertilizer applications significantly increased leaf, root and sugar yield of sugar beet and grain and biomass yields of barley over the control. Single inoculations with N2-fixing bacteria increased sugar beet root and barley yields by 5.6–11.0% depending on the species while P-solubilizing bacteria alone gave yield increases by 5.5–7.5% compared to control. Dual inoculation and mixture of three bacteria gave increases by 7.7–12.7% over control as compared with 20.7–25.9% yield increases by NP application. Mixture of all three strains, dual inoculation of N2-fixing OSU-142 and P-solubilizing M-13, and/or dual inoculation N2-fixing bacteria significantly increased root and sugar yields of sugar beet, compared with single inoculations with OSU-140 or M-13. Dual inoculation of N2-fixing Bacillus OSU-140 and OSU-142, and/or mixed inoculations with three bacteria significantly increased grain yield of barley compared with single inoculations of OSU-142 and M-13. In contrast with other combinations, dual inoculation of N2-fixing OSU-140 and P-solubilizing M-13 did not always significantly increase leaf, root and sugar yield of sugar beet, grain and biomass yield of barley compared to single applications both with N2-fixing bacteria. The beneficial effects of the bacteria on plant growth varied significantly depending on environmental conditions, bacterial strains, and plant and soil conditions. 相似文献
The study was performed to assess microorganisms and antibiotic susceptibility patterns during ten years in intensive care units of a University Hospital. Infection Control Committee has active, prospective surveillance in ICUs for thirteen years. Ten years data of ICUs was evaluated retrospectively from surveillance forms. Microorganisms and their antibiotic resistance were recorded according to the years. During ten years, gram negative microorganisms were the most frequent isolated microorganisms from clinical specimens. Acinetobacter baumannii (21.8%), Pseudomonas aerigunosa (16%), Escherichia coli (10.4%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (8%) were the most common gram negative microorganisms. However, Staphylococcus aureus was the most prevalent gram positive microorganism, the incidence decreased from 18.6% to 4.8% during ten years. Also antibiotic susceptibility of microorganisms changed during ten years. Carbapenem resistance increased from 44% to 92% in A. baumannii and ciprofloxacin resistance increased in E. coli from 28% to 60% and in K. pneumoniae from 21% to 55% during ten years. However, methicilin resistance decreased in S. aureus from 96% to 54%. In conclusion, antibiotic resistance is growing problem in ICUs. Rationale antibiotic policies and infection control measures will prevent the development of resistance. 相似文献
