Eosinophils of approximately 95% purity were prepared from the peritoneal cavities of BALB/c male mice infected with larval cestode, Mesocestoides corti. The alloantigenic surface marker phenotype of this cell population was shown to be H-2+Ly4+Ly5+Lyt-1-,2-,3-Ly-6-,7-Ia-Thy-1-TL-. Two of four anti-Lyt-2 sera were positive when tested on purified eosinophils by using the Staphylococcus aureus protein A sheep erythrocyte rosetting method, but absorption studies indicated that this reaction was not due to anti-Lyt-2 antibodies. Eosinophils are therefore Lyt-2-, although some Lyt-2 sera contain additional eosinophil reactive antibodies. A proportion (20 to 40%) of the population of eosinophils was positive for the Fc receptor, but all were negative for the C3 receptor and for surface immunoglobulin.  相似文献

Electron microscopic studies of the leg ciliary epithelium was carried out in two mollusks. In the epithelium of the leg of adult animals, the centrioles were mostly formed de novo with participation of deuterosomes during the formation of basal bodies. Transformation of the centriolar cylinder in a mature basal body is accompanied by the cylinder elongation and appearance of pericentriolar structures, such as rootlet system, basal legs, and basal plate. Centriolegenesis proceeds in both ciliate and nonciliate (with microvilli) cells of the epithelium. It has been proposed that the cell with microvilli represent a transitional stage in differentiation of the ciliary cells.  相似文献

Summary The sex circle model for crossing over and gene conversion proposed by Stahl has a number of properties which are in conflict with a considerable body of recombination data in fungi. The model is unable to explain the observed frequencies of gene conversion and postmeiotic segregation for particular mutants in several species. It does not provide an explanation for fine structure map expansion, nor does it account satisfactorily for the polarised distribution of outside markers amongst allelic recombinants.  相似文献

The chemical synthesis of a tetradecadeoxyribonucleotide, d-EtSp(A-T-G-G-A-A-A-C-T-G-C-G-G-C), is described. This oligomer, designated Fragment 4δ, constitutes the 5′-terminus of the plus strand of a projected duplex coding for S-Peptide2–14 derived from Ribonuclease A. The Fragment was constructed by block condensation via a phosphorothioate anchor. Complications due to inadvertent phosphotriester condensations are discussed. Many bird species produce vocalizations which are accompanied by distinctive postural displays, but the neural mechanisms that allow such integrated production of vocal and postural motor patterns are not understood. In the crowing behavior of Japanese quail, a characteristic vocal pattern is accompanied by and coordinated with a postural display that consists of a sequence of rapid, patterned head movements. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the role of a midbrain vocal nucleus, the nucleus intercollicularis, in the production of the acoustic and postural components of crowing in quail. Brief electrical stimuli were applied to the nucleus intercollicularis during spontaneously emitted crows in quail with chronically implanted electrodes, to determine if perturbing neural activity in the nucleus intercollicularis resulted in a disruption of ongoing crowing behavior. The most common effect of such stimuli was a concurrent, premature termination of both the acoustic and head movement components of the crow. These results imply that the nucleus intercollicularis plays a role in the production of both the acoustic and postural components of crowing in quail.  相似文献
