The growth rate of Merulius lacrymans (Jacq.) Fr. decreases very rapidly at temperatures above optimum (about 22°C). No growth occurred above 28°C. The thermal death-time of the fungus at different temperatures above maximum was determined. At 37.5°C the thermal death-time is 4 hours. At this temperature, the respiration is not directly affected, since an appreciable respiration occurred even after 6 hours. On the basis of 14C-experiments and analysis of UV-absorbing material excreted from the mycelium at supraoptimal temperatures, it is suggested that the detrimental effects of supraoptimal temperatures on this fungus include a degradation of the nucleic acids and a subsequent leakage of the nucleotides out of the cells.  相似文献

Summary Management of noble crayfish fisheries varies considerably between countries. Minimum legal harvest sizes range from 70 to 120 mm TL. National, regional and local crayfish harvesting regulations exist. The variations in regulations are strongly influenced by traditions for crayfish harvest and consumption. The current harvest of noble crayfish in Europe is approximately 220 tonnes; this is less than 10% of the pre-plague historic record. Improved fishery regulations may potentially increase the annual harvest. Because of allometric growth, noble crayfish increase by some 40–50% in weight by increasing in total length from 90 to 100 mm. Stock structure and stock characteristics vary between localities. Female noble crayfish mature at a size of 62–85 mm TL and the number of attached eggs is low, i.e. less than 200. Mean size of females in trap catches may be lower than mean size at maturity, indicating vulnerability to recruitment overfishing. There is a market for crayfish smaller than 90 mm TL, both for consumption and for stocking, and these often constitute more than 75% of trap catches. Regulations for catching crayfish are thus needed in order to prevent recruitment overfishing and to sustain high and stable yields. The authors therefore recommend a national minimum harvest size of 90–95 mm TL. The catching season should start after the first moult and after the brood have left their mother, and terminate when the mating period approaches in September. In localities with high exploitation a short harvest season (2–3 weeks) is recommended in the early August intermoult period. However, crayfish harvest regulations should also account for the variation that occurs between local stocks, and if necessary exemptions from the national regulations should be given where appropriate.  相似文献

Age, growth and density of Siberian sculpin (Cottus poecilopus) and young brown trout (Salmo trutta) within two sections of River Atna; above Lake Atnsjøen [Section 1 at altitudes between 739 and 715 m] and below Lake Atnsjøen [Section 2 at altitudes between 430 and 370 m] was studied during a 6-year period (1986–91). The water temperature was considerably lower in Section 1 than in Section 2, as the number of days with a water temperature above 10?°C (T D ≥ 10?° C ) from spring to August 1 ranged between 2–26 and 26–52 days, respectively. Juvenile brown trout (age 0+) attained a significantly smaller body size in Section 1 than in Section 2; mean length ±SD was 35 ± 8 mm (ranged 27–46) and 43 ± 7 mm (range 38–46), respectively. In Section 2, there was a highly positive correlation between the body length of 0+ brown trout and mean water temperature in June (p<0.005), and also to some extent in Section 1 (p=0.11). Individuals of age 1+ did not exhibit any such difference, while fish in age group 2+ were larger in Section 1 than in Section 2. By using the number of days with a water temperature between the range 5–10?°C (T D ≥ 5 ? 10?° C ) as test variables, we found a highly positive correlation between the August 1 body length of 0+ brown trout and T D ≥ 9?°C from spring to August 1 in Section 2 (p<0.05), as opposed to T D ≥ 7?°C for trout in Section 1 (p=0.11). Young Siberian sculpin (age 0+ and 1+) also exhibited slower growth in Section 1 than in Section 2, but this was not the case among older specimens. In the year with the lowest temperature measured (1987), no 0+ Siberian sculpin were caught in any of the two sections, indicating that low temperature affects their survival. Both species exhibited large spatial and temporal variation in density. Thus, data on abundance and growth sampled on one occasion at one site can not be regarded as representative for these two fish populations.  相似文献

Martinsson, S., Kjærandsen, J. & Sundberg, P. (2011). Towards a molecular phylogeny of the fungus gnat genus Boletina (Diptera: Mycetophilidae). —Zoologica Scripta, 40, 272–281. Boletina is a species rich genus of fungus gnats (Diptera: Mycetophilidae) with a mainly Holarctic distribution. The systematics within the genus has gained little attention and this is a first attempt to shed some light over the systematics of Boletina and to test the segregation of the genera Saigusaia and Aglaomyia from Boletina. The nuclear marker 28S and mitochondrial 16S, COI and CytB were amplified and sequenced for 23 taxa that were analysed separately and together with a broad sample of outgroup taxa obtained from GenBank, where also 18S sequences were added. Phylogenies were estimated using maximum likelihood, Bayesian inference and parsimony. We strengthen the hypothesized sister‐group relationship between Docosia and Boletina, but the genus Boletina as currently delimited appears to be paraphyletic and nested in a clade together with Aglaomyia, Coelosia and Gnoriste. The genus Saigusaia, on the other hand, seems to be well separated from Boletina. The Boletina erythropyga species group is consistently found as a distinct basal clade within Boletina s.l. The results obtained are otherwise ambiguous both for the taxa in focus and in some analyses globally with a statistically supported total breakdown of the traditional higher classification into tribes, subfamilies and even families. Interestingly, this breakdown almost disappeared when additional 18S sequences were added.  相似文献

We studied the number of circuli of first year scales in brown trout fry originating from eggs and alevins incubated at 2 °C and 7 °C. During the first 31/2 months the 7 °C fry were reared at a lower temperature than the 2 °C fry whereas temperature was identical during subsequent months. The numbers of circuli increased with body length in both groups. However, both the number of circuli and the rate of circuli formation were higher in the group incubated at 7 °C and varied between 2 and 9 in the 2 °C–group and 5 to 14 in the 7 °C group. Differences among natural populations in the number of first year circuli may therefore be due to differences in incubation temperature. Experimental manipulation with incubation temperature can be used to mark large numbers offish permanently at low cost with a minimum of handling and hatchery stress.  相似文献

A common challenge in phylogenetic reconstruction is to find enough suitable genomic markers to reliably trace splitting events with short internodes. Here, we present phylogenetic analyses based on genomewide single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of an enigmatic avian radiation, the subspecies complex of Afrocanarian blue tits (Cyanistes teneriffae). The two sister species, the Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) and the azure tit (Cyanistes cyanus), constituted the out‐group. We generated a large data set of SNPs for analysis of population structure and phylogeny. We also adapted our protocol to utilize degraded DNA from old museum skins from Libya. We found strong population structuring that largely confirmed subspecies monophyly and constructed a coalescent‐based phylogeny with full support at all major nodes. The results are consistent with a recent hypothesis that La Palma and Libya are relic populations of an ancient Afrocanarian blue tit, although a small data set for Libya could not resolve its position relative to La Palma. The birds on the eastern islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are similar to those in Morocco. Together they constitute the sister group to the clade containing the other Canary Islands (except La Palma), in which El Hierro is sister to the three central islands. Hence, extant Canary Islands populations seem to originate from multiple independent colonization events. We also found population divergences in a key reproductive trait, viz. sperm length, which may constitute reproductive barriers between certain populations. We recommend a taxonomic revision of this polytypic species, where several subspecies should qualify for species rank.  相似文献

The population of the crayfish Astacus astacus was recorded in Lake Steinsfjorden (southeast Norway) over the period 1979–1996 by studies of total catch effort (baited traps) and catch per unit effort over the season. Over the years 1979–1987, total population of exploitable crayfish (>9.5 cm) was 194,000 (±62,000 SD), and the catches were evenly distributed over the shallow areas. After 1987 there was a sudden decrease in population size, reaching a level of 92,000 (±22,000 SD) for the 10 years that followed. From 1977 onwards the Canadian pondweed Elodea canadensis invaded the lake and established dense covers over large parts of the shallow areas. The crayfish were gradually excluded from areas covered by Elodea, while the yield from remaining areas remained relatively constant. Direct observation by test-fishing and diving confirmed the virtual absence of crayfish within the Elodea stands. Dense stands may directly interfere with movement of adult crayfish, and also strong fluctuations in O2 and pH were recorded within the stands, probably acting as a stress factor. Although anoxia was not observed in this survey, it may occur during years of massive dieback of Elodea. Thus, while crayfish are able to feed on Elodea, they are unable to control the rapid growth over large areas of this invader, and somewhat paradoxically the herbivore is spatially excluded by its potential resource.  相似文献
