Polysomes from the skeletal muscle of normal and dystrophic hamsters were dissociated into ribosomal subunits by treatment with puromycin and the subunits from both strains were reassociated in all possible combinations. When their protein synthesis activity was assayed in a poly(U)-directed cell-free system at a low magnesium concentration, the reassociated ribosomes from dystrophic hamsters were less active than the ribosomes from control animals. The ribosomal defect is a property of the 60S subunit and is due to a ribosomal component rather than to abnormal binding of a non-ribosomal protein.  相似文献

Résumé Chez 44 Babouins,Papio papio (Desm.), appartenant à la collection du Parc zoologique de Paris, distingués en trois groupes, en fonction de l'âge, nous avons pratiqué 101 prélèvements aux niveaux suivants du tube digestif: intestin grêle gros intestin et rectum.C'est chez les animaux les plus âgés que nous avons obtenu les valeurs les plus élevées pour les deux critères étudiés, le pourcentage de positivité et la richesse spécifique des prélèvements et ce, aussi bien en ce qui concerne l'ensemble des levures identifiées que pour les seuls constituants de la flore probable. La fréquence de ces champignons aux divers étages du tube digestif, ainsi que l'incidence saisonnière sur les isolements ont été abordés.
In 44 Baboons,Papio papio (Desm.), of the Zoological Park of Paris, 101 samples have been taken at three levels of the alimentary tract: small intestine, large intestine and rectum. Three groups of subjects have been recognized according to age. The yeasts or the yeast-like flora, have been found with maximum of frequency and diversity in the oldest animals. The variations of the isolation in the three levels of this Mammal's gut and the seasonal influence have been discussed.

The nucleotide sequence and the 5 flanking region of the rbcL gene coding for the large subunit of ribulose bisphosphate-1,5-carboxylase/oxygenase of Pylaiella littoralis, a brown alga, has been determined and the deduced amino-acid sequence has been compared to those of various photosynthetic and chemoautotrophic Eubacteria, of a red alga and of green plastids (Euglena gracilis, green algae and higher plants). Unlike the rbcL genes of green plastids which are more closely related to those of cyanobacteria the P. littoralis rbcL gene is more closely related to that of a -purple bacterium, as was found for the rbcS gene of another chromophytic alga [Boczar et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 86: 4996–4999, 1989]. Matrix data of homology between the rbcL gene of P. littoralis and the same gene of other organisms are presented. Based on our previous report, the gene coding for the 16S rRNA from P. littoralis is closely related to that of E. gracilis (Markowicz et al., Curr Genet 14: 599–608, 1988). We suggest that the large plastid DNA molecule of P. littoralis is a phylogenetically composite genome which probably resulted from mixed endosymbiosis events, or from a horizontal transfer of DNA.  相似文献

Summary A new method was developed for rabbit skin organ culture. In a two-compartment model, skin discs were cultured on a Millicell-HA insert unit with a microporous membrane which allows transport of culture medium via the dermis into the epidermis, whereas the epidermal side remains free of direct contact with culture medium. In this relatively simple two-compartment organ culture model, rabbit skin could be cultured for 7 d in RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with fetal bovine serum, or for 2 d in RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with cofactors. The histomorphology and ultrastructure of 7-d cultured rabbit skin discs was essentially similar to that of freshly isolated rabbit skin. Keratinocytes in the stratum basale continued to divide during organ culture. The terminal differentiation of the epidermis continued in vitro as was found by the presence of keratohyalin granules, the intact stratum corneum, and keratin expression. Furthermore, glucose consumption continued until culture Day 7, but thereafter it declined rapidly. Concomitantly, degenerative changes were found. At the end of the 7-d culture period the distance between single dermal collagen fibrils had increased as compared to noncultured skin. This model of skin organ cultures can be used to study biological processes, dermal toxicity, and penetration and metabolism of xenobiotics in intact skin. Furthermore, within certain limits, processes responsible for repair and regeneration of damaged skin can also be studied in this model because the rabbit skin can be cultured for 7 d. Chromosomal polymorphism regarding number of NOR sites in the cyprinid fish Chondrostoma lusitanicum was examined using C-banding, silver-staining (Ag), and fluorescent staining with chromomycin A3 (CMA3). The analysis of heterochromatic regions allowed a more precise identification of the centromeric regions and the proposal of a revised haploid chromosome formula (7M: 15S: 3A). We describe variability in the number of NOR regions per genome, number of active NOR sites per cell, and relative size of individual NORs. Individuals expressed two or four NOR-bearing chromosomes. Polymorphism was detected in all the populations studied and sex-related differences were not found. The observed chromosomal NOR phenotypes suggest the occurrence of structural rearrangements during the evolutionary process of this diploid leuciscine cyprinid.  相似文献

Until World War II the economic activity of the inhabitants of the commune of Fontanigorda (Genova — Italy) was based on subsistence farming and temporary migration. Migration to France in search of work absorbed the excess active male population: the isonymy study shows that the migrants were recruited from all the families of the commune. After having left for Marseilles or the mine at St. Maime (in the Alps of Upper Provence), these young migrants returned to their home town to marry. This behaviour maintained a high degree of consanguinity, obscured by a false exogamy, at least until the turn of the century. After this period, lifelong migration completely modified the pattern of marriage structure bacause migration to France became definitive.  相似文献

this first paper introduces the topic of the volume, outcomes of a symposium organised at the 13th ICAES held in Mexico in August 1993. It briefly reminds of the convergence between anthropology and demography up to date and stresses on the need of real transdisciplinary work in this challenging domain. The aim of the symposium was to make a contribution on the central theme chosen by the congress — the cultural and biological dimensions of global change — while examining the place of demographic anthropology in the study of change. The papers presented at the symposium have been organised in three parts which form the present volume: the composition of population, the choice of spouse and mobility, the reproduction and dynamics of populations. The basic mechanisms of change are considered through examples at the level of local populations. This also leads to question the definitions of human groups and to make a “declaration” stressing on the importance of individual heterogeneity and the arbitrariness and reductive nature of any grouping of individuals, stating therefore the misapprehension of the most recent scientific work inherent to the rationale of programs of “ethnic cleasing”. The transformation capacity of Achillea millefolium L. ssp. millefolium (yarrow) cell suspension cultures was investigated using geraniol (50mg/l) and borneol, menthol, thymol and farnesols (25mg/l) as substrates. Summary The mRNA of the zona pellucida glycoprotein ZP3 was localized in frozen sections of pig ovaries, isolated oocytes and early embryos byin situ hybridization using biotinylated oligonucleotide probes. In follicles, the distribution of mRNA for ZP3 was correlated with the developmental stage: in primordial and primary follicles, the mRNA was shown to be predominantly localized in the oocyte. In secondary follicles, mRNA was found in both the oocyte and follicle cells. In tertiary and preovulatory follicles, the follicle cells showed distinct staining, whereas the oocyte was labelled weakly. In the early embryo, i.e. 2 days after fertilization, mRNA for ZP3 could not be demonstrated. Our results suggest that, in the pig, the zona pellucida protein ZP3 is synthesized by the oocyte and the follicle cells in sequence. After fertilization, synthesis of ZP3 is terminated.  相似文献
