A preliminary experiment in the divisional system of medical administration has been started in a large regional hospital in the Metropolitan area. This has involved considerable local interpretation of the original proposals in the Joint Working Party''s report. The chief benefits of this version as tried so far have been a more effective use of doctors'' time at all levels, a more rapid carrying out of practical suggestions, and closer co-operation between different departments. Those who give first administrative place to streamlined efficiency have seen the absence of an authoritative executive committee as the chief defect to date. The main fault in the eyes of those who emphasize the fundamental importance of participation has been the delay in the involvement of the junior medical staff.  相似文献

Abstract. The morphology of Astrobrachion constrictum , a representative of the little known Euryalida, was examined by light and electron microscopy. The tegument is smooth and lacks calcified elements. Many features of A. constrictum were found to conform to the usual pattern of ophiuroid anatomy. The skeletal elements are generally composed of uniform labyrinthic stereom. The radial shields, however, consist of overlapping stereom plates. The 5 oral shields serve as madreporites, each with a U-shaped canal leading into an axial sinus. A 3-lobed axial organ is associated with each madreporite and may play some sensory or secretory role.  相似文献

By repeated treatments of trypsin with phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF), followed by base elimination of PMS from the PMS-trypsin, a catalytically inactive anhydrotrypsin preparation of low (less than 1%) active trypsin content was obtained. Inactive material was removed by affinity chromatography on trypsin inhibitor-Sepharose 4B and the purified anhydrotrypsin with full binding capacity for trypsin inhibitors was coupled to cyanogen bromide-activated Sepharose 4B. When used below its maximum capacity for trypsin inhibitors the anhydrotrypsin-Sepharose-4B affinity column absorbed both classes of inhibitors present in soybean. When overloaded, the Kunitz type was bound preferentially. Based on this observation, conditions for the partial separation of the two types of inhibitors were worked out.  相似文献

Summary The modes of inheritance of chemically induced chlorophyll-deficient phenotypes in Mimulus cardinalis reveal that the chloroplast is controlled by the genome and the plastome. Three of the chlorophyll-deficient mutants in M. cardinalis are inherited through nuclear recessive genes and two are inherited through plastome genes. One chlorophyll-deficient mutant was sterile and could not be analyzed genetically. Ultrastructural analysis of the six mutant types reveals that each possesses a unique defective chloroplast type(s) in comparison to the genotypically and phenotypically normal chloroplasts. Based on plastid ultrastructure it seems reasonable to assume that the mutations, genome and plastome, are non-allelic or at least significantly different forms of the same allele. The isolation of these types of mutants provide suitable material needed to study the effects of specific biochemical blocks and the elucidation of developmental pathways leading to chloroplast biogenesis. The mutants also provide valuable information concerning the interrelationship between the nucleic acid of the genome and the plastome.This study is in part based on a dissertation submitted by the first author in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the Department of Botany, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.  相似文献
