The addition of fructose (F) to a glucose (G) supplement may modify the metabolic response during exercise; however, its effect on perceived exertion (PE) and its influence on postprandial metabolism have not been jointly studied in different types of exercise. This study sought to assess the acute effects of F addition to a G supplement on PE and on the postprandial metabolic response during a single bout of either strength exercise (SE) or endurance exercise (EE). Twenty physically trained men ingested an oral dose of G or GF 15 minutes before starting a 30-minute session of SE (10 sets of 10 repetitions of half squat) or EE (cycling). The combination resulted in 4 randomized interventions in a crossover design in which all subjects performed all experimental conditions: G + SE, GF + SE, G + EE, and GF + SE. Perceived exertion, heart rate (HR), G, insulin, lactate, and urinary catecholamine levels were measured before exercise, during the exercise, and during acute recovery. Perceived exertion during exercise was lower for GF than for G during SE and EE (mean ± SD; 8.95 ± 0.62 vs. 9.26 ± 0.65, p < 0.05 and 7.47 ± 0.84 vs. 7.74 ± 0.93, p < 0.05, respectively). The glycemic peak in GF + SE was lower than in G + SE (p < 0.05), and there was a second peak during recovery (p < 0.05), whereas in EE, no difference in blood G levels was noted between G and GF supplements. Moreover, HR, urinary adrenalin, and noradrenalin were lower in GF than in G (p < 0.05), though only for EE. The results showed that PE is positively affected by GF supplementation for both SE and EE and thus may be a useful dietary strategy for helping to achieve higher training loads. 相似文献

The changes of H-D exchange rates upon protein-protein interactions are generally interpreted as a result of the changes of the dynamic properties of the proteins. The effect of trypsin binding on the H-D exchange kinetics of some trypsin inhibitor amide H's was reported (Simon et al., 1984). In this paper the electrostatic potential originating from the trypsin molecule is calculated at the positions of the studied amide H's in the trypsin-trypsin inhibitor complex. We conclude that the observed decrease of the exchange rates is mainly due to the electrostatic field of the trypsin molecule. 相似文献

In this study, we compared pregnancy rates obtained using ram semen stored at 5 °C for 24 h, with ram or bull seminal plasma (SP) added to TRIS-egg yolk extender. During the breeding period, 670 adult Corriedale ewes were cervically inseminated with semen (2 × 108 sperm in a volume of 0.2 mL) from eight adult Corriedale rams. Ejaculates, obtained using an artificial vagina, were split into three aliquots and diluted with the following: TRIS-egg yolk based extender (T), T + 30% ram SP (R), or T + 30% bull SP (B). Samples were refrigerated and stored at 5 °C for 24 h until used for AI. Pregnancy was assessed by ultrasonography 35 to 40 d after AI. Pregnancy rate was not affected by ram (P = 0.77) or breeding period (P = 0.43), and there were no interactions between extender and ram (P = 0.94), or extender and breeding period (P = 0.24). However, there was an effect of extender (P = 0.0009) on pregnancy rates; ram SP, but not bull SP, increased pregnancy rates compared with extender without SP (49.7, 38.1, and 31.1%, for R, B, and T respectively). In conclusion, ram SP added to TRIS-egg yolk extender had a beneficial effect on the pregnancy rate of ram sperm stored at 5 °C for 24 h and used for cervical insemination of ewes. 相似文献

Impairment of pelvic organ support has been described in mice with genetic modifications of the proteins involved in elastogenesis, such as lysyl oxidase-like 1 (LOXL1) and fibulin 5. During pregnancy, elastic fiber-enriched pelvic tissues are modified to allow safe delivery. In addition, the mouse pubic symphysis is remodeled in a hormone-controlled process that entails the modification of the fibrocartilage into an interpubic ligament (IpL) and the relaxation of this ligament. After first parturition, recovery occurs to ensure pelvic tissue homeostasis. Because ligaments are the main supports of the pelvic organs, this study aimed to evaluate elastogenesis in the IpL during mouse pregnancy and postpartum. Accordingly, virgin, pregnant, and postpartum C57BL/6 mice were studied using light, confocal, and transmission electron microscopy as well as Western blots and real-time PCR. Female mice exhibited the separation of the pubic bones and the formation, relaxation, and postpartum recovery of the IpL. By the time the IpL was formed, the elastic fibers had increased in profile length and diameter, and they consisted of small conglomerates of amorphous material distributed among the bundles of microfibrils. Our analyses also indicated that elastin/tropoelastin, fibrillin 1, LOXL1/Loxl1, and fibulin 5 were spatially and temporally regulated, suggesting that these molecules may contribute to the synthesis of new elastic fibers during IpL development. Overall, this work revealed that adult elastogenesis may be important to assure the elasticity of the pelvic girdle during preparation for parturition and postpartum recovery. Lipid vesicles, e.g. liposomes, generally release their contents in a continuous manner. However, when these vesicles are entrapped in Ca-alginate and coated with poly(L-lysine), they release their contents in an unusual fashion, in 'bursts'. Molecular-level studies indicated that lipid-alginate interactions are responsible for changes in the barrier properties of lipid vesicles. Differential scanning calorimetry revealed that exposure of liposomes to alginate resulted in a 4-fold reduction in the phase transition enthalpy, with no change in the melting temperature. Size-exclusion chromatography of liposomes-in-alginate gave an additional liposomal peak with a smaller elution volume. These studies suggested that alginate is inserted into the lipid bilayer of vesicles. Lipid-alginate interactions were highly dependent on phospholipid head group charge and the phase transition temperature of the phospholipid. Based on these interactions, a mechanism to explain the 'burst' from these entrapped liposomes is suggested. 相似文献

The flora of the White Carpathians, a mountain range in the south-east of the Czech Republic, is documented by about 485,000
records of vascular plant occurrences collected since the mid-19th century. A total of 1299 species recorded in 93 grid cells of 2.8 × 3.1 km were used for an analysis of spatial patterns
of floristic diversity in the White Carpathians. Multivariate statistical techniques such as ordination and classification
were used to reveal the main gradients in floristic composition and species richness, and measured environmental data and
Ellenberg indicator values were used to assess underlying environmental factors. There is a striking floristic contrast between
the western and eastern part of the study area, which is associated with differences in climate, mean altitude, topographic
heterogeneity measured as altitudinal range, and land use. The western part is characterised by thermophilous, continental
and calcicolous species of open habitats. In contrast, the more forested eastern part along the state border with Slovakia
and the north-eastern part of the area are characterised by acidophilous species with higher moisture requirements. This pattern
is consistent with the established phytogeographical division of the Czech Republic into the phytogeographical regions of
Thermophyticum and Mesophyticum. The further division of the area into four regions, based on classified grid data, is also
similar to the current division into phytogeographical districts, except for the Javorníky district. There are two distinct
hot spots of species richness, in the western and the extreme north-eastern part. A poorer flora was found in landscapes with
intensive agriculture. Species richness is associated with different environmental factors than species composition, namely
with soil types and land-use categories. Alien species are more common in areas with a higher incidence of arable land and
built-up areas, and less common in areas dominated by grasslands and forests. 相似文献

Calymmochilus dispar Bouček & Andriescu (Hymenoptera, Eupelmidae) and Gelis apterus (Pontoppidan) (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) are newly recorded as parasitoids of the ant-eating spider Zodarion styliferum (Simon) (Araneae, Zodariidae). The larvae of both parasitoid species fed on juvenile spiders. The final instar larva and pupa of Calymmochilus dispar and the male of Gelis apterus are described for the first time. Both species represent new distribution records for Portugal. The biology and host associations of the parasitoids are discussed. 相似文献
