高寒草甸生态系统牲畜种群结构和动态

本文用Leslie矩阵模型研究了高寒草甸生态系统牲畜种群结构及动态。模型考虑了更加精确的年龄组转移关系,出栏率是种群波动的主要因子。目前,牲畜种群结构不合理,种群数量不能保持平衡。     

The sequence and organization of the core histone H3 and H4 genes in the early branching amitochondriate protistTrichomonas vaginalis

Among the unicellular protists, several of which are parasitic, some of the most divergent eukaryotic species are found. The evolutionary distances between protists are so large that even slowly evolving proteins like histones are strongly divergent. In this study we isolated cDNA and genomic histone H3 and H4 clones fromTrichomonas vaginalis. Two histone H3 and three histone H4 genes were detected on three genomic clones with one complete H3 and two complete H4 sequences. H3 and H4 genes were divergently transcribed with very short intergenic regions of only 194 bp, which containedT. vaginalis-specific as well as histone-specific putative promoter elements. Southern blot analysis showed that there may be several more histone gene pairs. The two complete histone H4 genes were different on the nucleotide level but encoded the same amino acid sequence. Comparison of the amino acid sequences of theT. vaginalis H3 and H4 histones with sequences from animals, fungi, and plants as well as other protists revealed a significant divergence not only from the sequences in multicellular organisms but especially from the sequences in other protists likeEntamoeba histolytica, Trypanosoma cruzi, andLeishmania infantum.     

多胚水稻ApⅢ（双13）的胚胎学观察

对多胚水稻（Ｏｒｙｚａ ｓａｔｉｖａ Ｌ．）ＡｐⅢ的大量成熟颖果、人工萌发的幼苗和开花后３～５ ｄ 的幼嫩颖果进行的整体解剖和显微制片观察表明：ＡｐⅢ的５０００粒成熟颖果中,８９．０％ 含单胚单苗,８．９％ 和１．２％分别含双胚双苗和三胚三苗;７００多粒幼嫩颖果中,９０．０％ ～９５．０％ 含单胚,５．０％ ～７．０％ 含双胚。因制片的数目有限,未见到含三胚的;在含单胚和多胚颖果中,胚均位于同一胚囊的珠孔端,未见到胚囊以外存在不定胚。根据上述结果,似可以认为ＡｐⅢ单粒颖果的双胚和三胚是由同一胚囊内的卵细胞和１或２个助细胞受精或不受精发育而来的     

Construction of an Aspergillus nidulans multicopy transformant for the xlnB gene and its use in purifying the minor X24 xylanase

 Using recombinant DNA techniques, an Aspergillus nidulans multicopy transformant for the gene xlnB coding for the minor X₂₄ xylanase has been constructed. When grown on glucose as sole carbon source this transformant secretes 114 U of xylanase (mg protein)^-1. In this culture condition, X₂₄ is the only xylanase secreted and the predominant protein in the culture filtrate. This strategy has been used to purify the X₂₄ enzyme to homogeneity. The purified xylanase showed a single band on sodium dodecyl sulphate/ polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis with a molecular mass of 24 kDa and had an isoelectric point of approximately 3.5. The enzyme was a non-debranching endo-1,4-β-xylan xylanohydrolase highly specific for xylans and showed optimal activity at pH 5.5 and 52°C. The X₂₄ xylanase had a Michaelis constant, K _m, of 12.43 mg oat spelt xylan ml^-1 and a V _max of 1639 μmol min^-1 (mg protein)^-1. Influence of 2,4-d and lactose on pollen embryogenesis in anther culture of potato

Anthers of diploid genotypes of Solanum tuberosum capable of androgenesis were cultured on different media to examine the effect on induction of pollen embryogenesis of 2,4-d and lactose. Anthers cultured in callogenic medium with 2,4-d and sucrose produced pollen derived embryoids only exceptionally. When sucrose was replaced by lactose the frequency of embryogenesis was as high or higher than in embryogenic auxin-free medium. Substitution of lactose for sucrose in the embryogenic medium had no effect. Supplementing the embryogenic medium with 2,4-d strongly reduced the frequency of pollen embryoids in the presence of sucrose but not with lactose.Abbreviations 2,4-d 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid     

Epstein─Barr病毒膜抗原在中国仓鼠卵巢（CHO）细胞中的表达

将切去３’端穿膜序列的ＥＢ病毒膜抗原（ＭＡ）基因,插入ｐＳＶ２－ｄｈｆｒ质粒的ＳＶ４０早期启动子下游,构建了真核表达载体ｐＳＶ２－ｄｈｆｒＧＰＴＲ,使两个ＳＶ４０早期启动子分别调控ＭＡ和二氢叶酸还原酶（ｄｈｆｒ）基因。将该重组质粒转化ＣＨＯ－ｄｈｆｒ细胞,在选择培养基中筛选阳性克隆,用氨甲喋呤加压扩增,建立了表达ＥＢＶ－ＭＡ的克隆细胞系。ｗｅｓｔｅｒｎｂｌｏｔ分析证明,所表达的蛋白的分子量大约为３４０ｋｄ和２２０ｋｄ。经过细Ｓｅｐｈａｒｏｓｅ２Ｂ琼脂糖凝胶层析初步纯化的抗原与福氏佐剂混合免疫小鼠,２周后小鼠血清中出现明显的ｇｐ３４０／２２０特异性抗体,表明切去嵌膜区结构的ＥＢＶ－ＭＡ基因在ＣＨＯ细胞中的表达产物具有同天然膜抗原相似的分子量大小、糖基化程度、免疫特异性和免疫原性,可望成为ＥＢ病毒人用基因工程亚单位疫苗。     

Use of paired plots and multivariate analysis for the determination of goat grazing preference

Abstract. Goat grazing is examined as a possible tool for grassland management. In this paper, goat grazing preferences are described. The proportion of biomass of particular species eaten by a goat was estimated on the basis of comparison of paired quadrats. The control quadrats were clipped before grazing and their biomass was compared with the biomass in grazed quadrats. Estimates of the proportion consumed were calculated for frequent species; they were significantly different among species; the most preferred species was Polygonum bistorta, a species with broad, soft, nutritious leaves. The least grazed species were Agrostis tenuis and Galium harcynicum. Various indices of food selectivity (e.g. forage ratio, electivity index) were calculated and their behaviour was compared. Canonical Correspondence Analysis and Redundancy Analysis with appropriate covariates reflecting the block design of the experiment were used to evaluate overall changes in species composition and yielded results similar to those from the direct estimation of the proportion consumed.     

Index of new names of syntaxa published in 1992

The present work collects the new names of syntaxa (in the sense of the Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature,Barkman et al. 1986) above subassociation, rank found in the literature received by the Library of the Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques in Geneva. For the year 1992, 658 names have been listed. For each one of them, an appreciation about its validity is given relating to the Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature. Fifteen names are given in addition to the Indexes 1987, 1990 and 1991 (Theurillat & Moravec 1990, 1993, 1994).     

Plasma membrane Ca2+ channels in roots of higher plants and their role in aluminium toxicity

Single Ca²⁺ channel records were obtained from plasma membrane-enriched fractions of wheat roots incorporated into artificial planar lipid bilayers. The channel had a unitary conductance of 15 pS for a 10 to 95 mM CaCl₂ gradient (cytoplasm: outside of the cell). The voltage dependence displayed by the channel agreed with that expected for Ca²⁺ channels in the plasma membrane. The channel gating was strongly modified by addition of 20 M extracellular verapamil (a Ca²⁺ channel antagonist). Extracellular AlCl₃ (70 M, pH 4.9) almost completely blocked the channel.     

Behavior of bonobos (Pan paniscus) following their capture of monkeys in Zaire

For the first time, three cases of capture and forced interaction were observed between bonobos (Pan paniscus)and two other species of primates (Colobus angolensisand Cercopithecus ascanius)in the Lilungu (Ikela) region, Republic of Zaire. The bonobos interacted with the captured primates as if they were dealing with individuals of their own species. They sought cooperation in their interactions with the captured young primates without scccess. There is no evidence that they ate the captives.
