Chenopodium species react on infection with tobacco mosaic virus by the formation of chlorotic or necrotic lesions and later by the abscission of infected leaves. A transition of local infection into the stem has been observed exceptionally inChenopodium quinoa, C. hybridum, andC. rubrum, but no systemic infection of the leaves followed. Systemic infection was demonstrated only inC. polyspermum andC. murale. The recovery of new sprouts was demonstrated in C.murale in the late chronic phase of infection.  相似文献

The present work collects the new names of syntaxa (in the sense of the Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature,Barkman et al. 1986) above subassociation, rank found in the literature received by the Library of the Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques in Geneva. For the year 1992, 658 names have been listed. For each one of them, an appreciation about its validity is given relating to the Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature. Fifteen names are given in addition to the Indexes 1987, 1990 and 1991 (Theurillat & Moravec 1990, 1993, 1994).  相似文献

Synopsis Although swimming is energetically costly, a number of studies on salmonid species have demonstrated increased growth rates in fishes forced to swim for prolonged periods at moderate speeds (typically 1–2 body lengths per sec). This suggests that additional energetic costs of swimming are more than met by alternative compensatory gains. The mechanisms underlying such effects are not fully understood. In this paper, we describe an experiment designed to examine one possible mechanism, namely a swimming-induced inhibition of aggression, with consequent beneficial effects on growth. The study used Arctic charr,Salvelinus alpinus, a species for which a positive relationship between exercise and growth has been clearly established. Using direct behavioural observations on small groups, we demonstrate that individuals displaying high levels of aggressive behaviour are able to monopolise access to food and that enforced swimming at a moderate speed (1 body length per sec) reduces the incidence of aggression although not the degree of monopolisation of food shown by aggressive individuals. These results suggest that the enhanced growth rates accompanying enforced swimming may reflect lower energetic costs of reduced aggressive activity rather than improved access to food by subordinates.  相似文献

Our experiments showed that the activity of -glutamyltransferase (-GT) did not remarkably change in homogenates of mouse, rat, and bovine brains during the first four days post mortem. In the course of that period, the brain microvessels also retained their -GT activity. -GT of microvessels from bovine brain cortex, solubilized with sodium deoxycholate, was eluted in the void volume Vo when chromatographed on a Sephadex G-200 column with the detergent Triton X-100. In human post mortem brains, the specific activity of -GT in choroid plexi was found to be about five times higher than that in the cerebral cortex, white matter, basal ganglia, pons, and cerebellum but about four times lower than that in the microvessels obtained from the studied brain regions. Our findings suggest that it is possible to study the components of the blood-brain barrier on material from deceased subjects.  相似文献

Die submontanen krautreichen Buchenwälder auf Silikatböden in der westlichen Tschechoslowakei (Tschechische Sozialistische Republik) zerfallen in vier Assoziationen: 1.Tilio cordatae-Fagetum Mráz 1960 em.Moravec 1977, 2.Tilio platyphylli-Fagetum Klika 1939, 3.Melico-Fagetum Seibert 1954 und 4.Carici pilosae-Fagetum Oberdorfer 1957. DasTilio cordatae-Fagetum ist an niedrigere Bergländer Mittel-, Süd- und Westböhmens gebunden. DasTilio platyphylli-Fagetum ist eine lokal bedingte Assoziation des Westteils des Gebirges ?eské st?edoho?í. DasMelico-Fagetum kommt in Nord- bis Ostböhmen und Nord- und Mittelmähren vor. DasCarici pilosae-Fagetum ist auf die Karpaten beschränkt (ausnahmsweise greift es auf den Ostrand des Böhmischen Hochlandes über). Die Buchenwälder des Hügellandes bei Jevany (Mittelböhmen) und des Gebirges ?elezné hory gehören, trotz dem Vorkommen in submontanen Lagen, demDentario enneaphylli-Fagetum Oberdorfer ex W. etA. Matuszkiewicz 1960 an. Die Zusammensetzung der Assoziationen ist durch pflanzensoziologische Tabellen belegt und ihre Verbreitung auf einer Punktkarte erfasst.  相似文献

1. The oligomeric dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD)-binding protein of mitochondrial ATPase was studied using (a) the relationship between [14C]DCCD binding and inhibition of ATPase activities and (b) the analysis of the kinetics of inhibition. 2. The [14C]DCCD binding to bovine heart mitochondria is linearly proportional to the inhibition of ATP hydrolysis up to a 50% decrease of the original activity resulting in 0.6 mol DCCD bound covalently to the specific inhibitory site (Hous?t?k, J., Svoboda, P., Kopecký, J., Kuz?ela, S?. and Drahota, Z. (1981) Biochim. Biophys. Acta 634, 331–339) per mol of the fully inhibited enzyme. 3. Kinetics of the inhibition of both the ATPase activity (heart and liver mitochondria) and ADP-stimulated respiration (liver) reveal that 1 mol DCCD per mol ATPase eliminates both the synthetic and the hydrolytic activities. It is inferred that the activity-binding correlation underestimates the number of DCCD-reactive sites. 4. The second-order rate constant of the DCCD-ATPase interaction (k) is inversely related to the concentration of membranes, indicating that DCCD reaches the inhibitory site by concentrating in the hydrophobic (phospholipid) environment. 5. At a given concentration of liver mitochondria, comparable k values are obtained both for the inhibition of ATP hydrolysis (k=5.35·102M?1·min?1) and ADP-stimulated respiration (k=5.67·102M?1·min?1). 6. It is concluded that both the synthetic and the hydrolytic functions of ATPase are inhibited via a common single DCCD-reactive site. This site is represented by one of the several polypeptide chains forming the oligomer of the DCCD-binding protein. The inhibitor-ATPase interaction does not exhibit cooperativity, indicating that the preferential reactivity towards DCCD is an inherent property of the inhibitory site.  相似文献

Aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) applied as a droplet (3 l, 0.1 mM) to the plumule of seedlings of both the short-day plantChenopodium rubrum and the long-day plantChenopodium murale counteracted to a great extent or even canceled the inhibition of flowering due to exogenous indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). This effect was more pronounced with the two substances administered simultaneously than with later application of AVG alone. AVG by itself in some cases promoted the percentage of flowering in bothChenopodium species. Application of IAA to the shoot apex was shown to elevate ethylene production in both species, whereas application of AVG alone was shown to suppress it. Thus, ethylene may be considered an active agent of flowering inhibition brought about by IAA application.  相似文献

Penicillium cyclopium growing in a surface culture with 2-ketoglutarate or glutamate as a sole carbon source produced ethylene in two phases. The first peak of ethylene production (EP 1) was associated with aerial mycelium growth whereas the second peak of ethylene production (EP 2) occurred with formation and maturation of conidia. Conidiation was induced by blue light between 120 and 172 h after the culture was started and depended on the presence of a carbon source at the stage of conidiophore initiation. Exogenous phosphate content dropper rapidly before the onset of conidiation. The EP 2 was connected with conidiation via this drop. Addition of phosphate prior to the conidiophore initiation and during conidiation inhibited EP 2 without affecting conidiation, but conidia lacked a green pigment and their germination ability decreased by 905. Exogenous ethylene did not restore normal development. The EP 2 in asporogenic cultures was evoked by incubation in the dark and by phosphate removal. The EP 2 and conidiation were accompanied by an increased oxygen consumption. The EP 1 yield of ethylene depended only on biomass growth and was unaffected by any treatment mentioned above.  相似文献
