The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases among physicians at a teaching hospital. In total, 203 men and 167 women were included in the study. The participants filled in a questionnaire; their height, weight, blood pressure, serum cholesterol and glucose levels were added. 19.2 % males and 13.8 % females were smokers, hypertension was diagnosed in 10 % of males and in 6.6 % of females, 52.2 % males and 17.4 % females were overweight, 37 % males and 43.1 % females had hypercholesterolemia. The above findings suggest that Czech physicians have more favourable values of all the studied cardiovascular diseases risk factors than the general Czech population. However, Czech physicians smoke more than those in other countries and their level of cardiovascular diseases risk factors is unsatisfactory and calls for further intensive prevention. Preliminary outcomes of the study repeated after two years show no positive trends as well as physicians' low willingness to actively participate in lowering cardiovascular diseases risk factors. 相似文献

The goal of the study was to monitor the antioxidative effect of stobadine derivative in the conditions of ischemia-reperfusion of laboratory rat kidney tissue. The animals were divided by random selection into 5 groups (n = 10). The treated groups were given stobadine derivate in peroral doses of 5, 10 and 20 mg/kg in 0.5 % solution of Avicel once a day; the placebo group was given only the solution of Avicel. The last group was an intact group (without ischemia-reperfusion and without treatment). After conclusion of medication on the 15th day all animals were subjected to kidney tissue ischemia (60 min.) followed by reperfusion (10 min.). All animals were subsequently exsanquined and single identification of superoxiddismutase, glutathion peroxidase, total antioxidative capacity, and malondialdehyde level in the blood were determined. Kidneys were recovered for histopathological examination. A statistically significant decrease of the superoxiddismutase and statistically significant increase of the glutathione peroxidase catalytic activity in the treated groups compared to the groups of placebo and intact was discovered. There was also a statistically highly significant increase of total antioxidative capacity in the treated groups compared to the groups of placebo and intact. A statistically significant decrease of malondialdehyde level was identified in the treated groups compared to the groups of placebo and intact. The results of biochemical examination show a protective antioxidative effect of stobadine derivative. The results of histopathological examination support this assumption. 相似文献

The heart very often becomes a victim of endocrine abnormalities such as thyroid hormone imbalance and insulin deficiency, which are manifested in a broad spectrum of cardiac dysfunction from mildly compromised function to severe heart failure. These functional changes in the heart are largely independent of alterations in the coronary arteries and instead reside at the level of cardiomyocytes. The status of cardiac function reflects the net of underlying subcellular modifications induced by an increase or decrease in thyroid hormone and insulin plasma levels. Changes in the contractile and regulatory proteins constitute molecular and structural alterations in myofibrillar assembly, called myofibrillar remodeling. These alterations may be adaptive or maladaptive with respect to the functional and metabolic demands on the heart as a consequence of the altered endocrine status in the body. There is a substantial body of information to indicate alterations in myofibrillar proteins including actin, myosin, tropomyosin, troponin, titin, desmin, and myosin-binding protein C in conditions such as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. The present article is focussed on discussion how myofibrillar proteins are altered in response to thyroid hormone imbalance and lack of insulin or its responsiveness, and how their structural and functional changes explain the contractile defects in the heart. 相似文献

The series of 2-benzylsulfanyl derivatives of benzoxazole and benzothiazole were synthesized, evaluated for their in vitro antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, and the activity expressed as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in micromol/L. The substances bearing two nitro groups (4e, 4f, 5e, 5f) or a thioamide group (4i, 4j, 5i, 5j) exhibited appreciable activity particularly against non-tuberculous strains. The mechanism by which metalloporphyrins escape from mitochondria has been studied in isolated rat-liver mitochondria using Co-deuteroporphyrin as the model compound. During the first 10--15 min of incubation the efflux is about 10% of the total amount of Co-deuteroporphyrin synthesized. The efflux then increases to a second steady-state leve of 25--35% after 30--45 min of incubation. The efflux is inversely correlated to the energy state of the mitochondria. Globin at concentrations less than 0.4 mumol/l enhances the efflux of Co-deuteroporphyrin, but has no effect on the degree of energy coupling or on the rate of Co-deuteroporphyrin synthesis. The effect of globin can be competitively inhibited by adding haemin. Haemin (0.5--1.0 mumol/l) when added to the medium in the absence of globin reduces the efflux of Co-deuteroporphyrin by 20--30%, but has no effect on the metal-chelatase activity. Neither albumin nor haemoglobin increases the efflux of Co-deuteroporphyrin from intact mitochondria. The results suggest that the efflux of metalloporphyrin is regulated in part by the energy state of the mitochondria and in part by the presence of metalloporphyrin-binding ligants and unattached haemin in the incubation medium. 相似文献

For multiple-brooded species, the number of reproductive events per year is a major determinant of an individual''s fitness. Where multiple brooding is facultative, its occurrence is likely to change with environmental conditions, and, as a consequence, the current rates of environmental change could have substantial impacts on breeding patterns. Here we examine temporal population-level trends in the proportion of female great tits (Parus major) producing two clutches per year (‘double brooding’) in four long-term study populations in The Netherlands, and show that the proportion of females that double brood has declined in all populations, with the strongest decline taking place in the last 30 years of the study. For one of the populations, for which we have data on caterpillar abundance, we show that the probability that a female produces a second clutch was related to the timing of her first clutch relative to the peak in caterpillar abundance, and that the probability of double brooding declined over the study period. We further show that the number of recruits from the second clutch decreased significantly over the period 1973–2004 in all populations. Our results indicate that adjustment to changing climatic conditions may involve shifts in life-history traits other than simply the timing of breeding. 相似文献

Blood serum selenium of 65 men and hair selenium of 77 men from three regions of the Czech Republic (CR) were analyzed by neutron activation analysis, and 202 samples of urine from the same populations were analyzed for Se by the fluorimetric method to assess selenium status of these regions. Low status (53 μg Se/L of serum and 0.29 μg Se/g lyophilized hair as means) and very low urine selenium (8.7 μg/L urine) were detected. By these data, the CR is among the countries with the lowest Se intake. A comparison of studied regions is presented. Moreover, values of serum zinc were within the reference range, but mild to moderate deficiency in the supply of iodine was detected. 相似文献
