Morphogenesis of accessory nuclei (AN) in chorionated oocytes of Cosmoconus meridionator is described. Initially, each AN contains two dense, morphologically distinct inclusions. During the final stages of postvitellogenesis, these inclusions undergo characteristic transformation that is followed by the extrusion of some substances from AN to the surrounding periplasm. Histo- and cytochemical tests indicate that both inclusions contain RNA, although their precise composition is different. Our results support previous suggestions on the involvement of AN in the distribution of morphogenetic signals. 相似文献

Summary Six analogs of leucine-enkephalin were synthesized in which a 1,5-disubstituted tetrazole ring was incorporated in order to
lock selected peptide bonds in cis geometry. The obtained compounds were examined based on their biological effects in vivo
and in vitro. Only one analog was completely inactive in binding assays being very weakly active in the antinociceptive test.

Biodegradable nonionic sugar esters-based surfactants have been gaining more and more attention in recent years due to their chemical plasticity that enables the various applications of these molecules. In this review, various synthesis methods and biotechnological implications of lactose esters (LEs) uses are considered. Several chemical and enzymatic approaches are described for the synthesis of LEs, together with their applications, i.e. function in detergents formulation and as additives that not only stabilize food products but also protect food from undesired microbial contamination. Further, this article discusses medical applications of LEs in cancer treatment, especially their uses as biosensors, halogenated anticancer drugs, and photosensitizing agents for photodynamic therapy of cancer and photodynamic inactivation of microorganisms. 相似文献

In conscious rats histamine, the H1-receptor agonist 2-pyridylethylamine (PEA), and the H2-receptor agonists dimaprit and impromidine given intracerebroventriculary (i.c.v.) increased the hypophyseal-adrenocortical response, evaluated indirectly through the corticosterone concentration in the blood serum. On a molar basis histamine was the most potent drug whereas its agonists were less potent in inducing an increased corticosterone response. Impromidine however, was far more active than dimaprit and PEA. The effect of histamine was significantly yet not totally antagonized by either mepyramine, a H1-receptor antagonist, or cimetidine, a H2-receptor blocker. The combination of mepyramine and cimetidine caused a considerably stronger inhibition than that induced by either antagonist given separately. Mepyramine impaired the corticosterone response to PEA, and the responses to impromidine and dimaprit were significantly diminished by cimetidine. The results suggest that i.c.v. histamine increases the pituitary-adrenocortical activity via both H1- and H2-receptors, and there seems to be no significant prevalence of either of these receptors in mediating this action of histamine. 相似文献

The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) status of two plant communities on a calamine spoil mound (rich in cadmium, lead and zinc)
in southern Poland was surveyed: an undisturbed grassland community and an early succession community that developed after
complete removal of the surface layer of the calamine substrate about 10 years earlier. The undisturbed site harbored 40 herbaceous
species making up 87% of the absolute cover. AM colonization was recorded in 25 species accounting for 77% of the relative
cover. Species with 51–75% AM root colonization such as Festuca ovina and Leontodon hispidus dominated the undisturbed turf, contributing 45% to the relative cover. Carex ssp. were the most abundant nonmycorrhizal plants and accounted for 9% of the relative cover. Spores of Glomus aggregatum, G. constrictum, G. fasciculatum, G. pansihalos, Glomus sp. and Entrophospora sp. averaged 25 per 100 g dry substrate at the undisturbed site. The disturbed site was colonized by 25 species accounting
for 17% of the absolute cover. Among the AM plants, most abundant were the species with up to 20% AM root colonization, such
as Agrostis stolonifera and Thymus pulegioides, wich accounted for 24% of the relative cover. Nonmycorrhizal species, such as Biscutella laevigata,
Cardaminopsis arenosa, Gypsophila fastigiata and Silene vulgaris, dominated the early succession community and contributed 64% to the relative cover. Spores of G. fasciculatum and Entrophospora sp. averaged 20 per 100 g dry substrate at the disturbed site.

Four patients were subjected to sialolithotomy of the submandibular gland in the Department of Otolaryngology, Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University in Cracow. The resected calculi were examined under a scanning electron microscope and chemical analysis of their structure was carried out. Results of these studies were compared with clinical observations. It has been found that sialoliths are built up by inorganic salts, mainly calcium compounds. Crystallization processes proceed at variable rates and are related to duration of the disease and intensity of inflammatory reaction. 相似文献

Cyclolinopeptide A (CLA), a cyclic nonapeptide from linseed, possesses strong immunosuppressive and antimalarial activity along with the ability to inhibit cholate uptake into hepatocytes. The structure of the peptide was studied extensively in solution as well as in the solid state. It is postulated that both the Pro-Pro cis-amide bond and an 'edge-to-face' interaction between the aromatic rings of two adjacent Phe residues are important for biological activity. Structure-activity relationship studies of many linear and cyclic analogues of CLA suggest that the Pro-Xxx-Phe sequence and the flexibility of the peptide are important for the immunosuppressive activity. 相似文献

The structure of the O-antigenic part of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Salmonella Dakar was analysed using chemical methods, NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. There is a growing number of diseases which prevalence can be associated with vitamin D deficiency. The link between low cholecalciferol concentration and bone diseases is well established, however there is also data suggesting that it may influence development and progression of different cancers and autoimmune diseases. The in vitro studies proved that the active vitamin D metabolite--1,25(OH)(2)D(3) may arrest the cell cycle progression, induce apoptosis as well as regulate T cells and antigen presenting cells function. Results of the in vivo experiments suggest that vitamin D deficiency accelerates development of autoimmune diseases and cancers in animals. Epidemiological studies imply that the vitamin D deficiency is also associated with the increased incidence of autoimmune diseases and cancers in people. The main determinant of vitamin D serum concentration in a human body is skin synthesis. The changes in the lifestyle, air pollution as well as a common use of sun screens caused that the contemporary European receives little sunlight compared to his ancestors. According to the recent epidemiological studies, the vitamin D concentrations in serum of people who live in high latitudes (above 34 degrees N/S), including Poland, is far from being sufficient. This paper reviews results of the recent studies concerning the potential role of the vitamin D in the development of cancers and autoimmune diseases, as well as provides guidelines for vitamin D supplementation. 相似文献
