The characteristic micromorphology of the tobaoco cell strains, or its cyclic changes in the course of the subcultivation interval can be affected by auxin composition of the medium,i.e. by the application of either 2,4-D alone, or NAA, or their combination. On omitting one of the auxins, the over-all growth of the cultures is not substantially affeoted; however, the participation of various oell types, as well as the occurrenoe of starch grains are altered. The presenoe of 2,4-D alone results in an inhibition of starch occurrence, NAA alone causes a stimulation. There is no causal dependence of the occurrence or absence of starch grains on the stimulation of elongation (volume) growth, or, on the contrary, on cell division. 相似文献

The activity and localization of alcohol (AD), lactic (LD), malic (MD), isocitric (ICD) and succinic (SD) dehydrogenase, resp. was histochemically determined in shoot apices of plants in the vegetative condition during transition to flowering and at the reproductive state. The enzymes were determined in freehand sections, as well as in shoot apices incubatedin toto according toNachlas et al. (1958) using Nitro-BT. The characteristic localization of the enzymes depending on the ontogenic stage of the shoot apex is described. Different parts, layers and cell groups of the apex showed differences in enzyme activity. SD could not be detected in shoot apices. The histochemical findings are discussed in relation to former results obtained from a biochemical investigation of respiration in the same material. 相似文献

Systolic time intervals are commonly used to identify changes in ventricular function. The method described facilitates measurement and calculation of many such intervals. This method utilizes a printed polygraph recording of electrocardiogram, phonocardiogram, and carotid pulse contour; a digitizing device for reading the necessary coordinates from the record; and a minicomputer for calculation of the intervals and for data analysis. Four new leaf mutants, crinkled-leaf, waxy-leaf, narrow-leaf and unifoliate were induced in black gram, Phaseolus mungo, following treatments with X-rays and/or ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS). The crinkled-leaf and waxy-leaf mutants had normal fertility and vitality, whereas the narrow-leaf mutant was partially sterile and the unifoliate (an extreme dwarf) completely sterile. WW domain binding protein 1‐like (WBP1L), also known as outcome predictor of acute leukaemia 1 (OPAL1), is a transmembrane adaptor protein, expression of which correlates with ETV6‐RUNX1 (t(12;21)(p13;q22)) translocation and favourable prognosis in childhood leukaemia. It has a broad expression pattern in haematopoietic and in non‐haematopoietic cells. However, its physiological function has been unknown. Here, we show that WBP1L negatively regulates signalling through a critical chemokine receptor CXCR4 in multiple leucocyte subsets and cell lines. We also show that WBP1L interacts with NEDD4‐family ubiquitin ligases and regulates CXCR4 ubiquitination and expression. Moreover, analysis of Wbp1l‐deficient mice revealed alterations in B cell development and enhanced efficiency of bone marrow cell transplantation. Collectively, our data show that WBP1L is a novel regulator of CXCR4 signalling and haematopoiesis. 相似文献

Epigenetic mechanisms have gained relevance in human health and environmental studies, due to their pivotal role in disease, gene × environment interactions and adaptation to environmental change and/or contamination. Epigenetic mechanisms are highly responsive to external stimuli and a wide range of chemicals has been shown to determine specific epigenetic patterns in several organisms. Furthermore, the mitotic/meiotic inheritance of such epigenetic marks as well as the resulting changes in gene expression and cell/organismal phenotypes has now been demonstrated. Therefore, epigenetic signatures are interesting candidates for linking environmental exposures to disease as well as informing on past exposures to stressors. Accordingly, epigenetic biomarkers could be useful tools in both prospective and retrospective risk assessment but epigenetic endpoints are currently not yet incorporated into risk assessments. Achieving a better understanding on this apparent impasse, as well as identifying routes to promote the application of epigenetic biomarkers within environmental risk assessment frameworks are the objectives of this review. We first compile evidence from human health studies supporting the use of epigenetic exposure‐associated changes as reliable biomarkers of exposure. Then, specifically focusing on environmental science, we examine the potential and challenges of developing epigenetic biomarkers for environmental fields, and discuss useful organisms and appropriate sequencing techniques to foster their development in this context. Finally, we discuss the practical incorporation of epigenetic biomarkers in the environmental risk assessment of chemicals, highlighting critical data gaps and making key recommendations for future research within a regulatory context. 相似文献
