A number of antiangiogenic drugs have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration which are used in cancer therapy, and variety of other agents in several stages of clinical development or in preclinical assessment. Among these, combretastatin A4 (CA-4) is an under-researched inhibitor of angiogenesis that shows potential activity in the treatment of advanced tumors with migration capacity. However, its clinical application has been limited due to poor water solubility, low bioavailability, rapid metabolism, and systemic elimination. During the last decade, numerous investigations have been done to overcome these problems by using different CA-4 delivery systems or developing produgs of CA-4 or its structural analogs. Nevertheless, these strategies could not be efficient out of the undesired side effects on normal tissues. Nanoliposomal CA-4 not only benefits from the advantage of using liposomal drugs as opposed to free drugs but also can accumulate in the tumor site via specific targeting ligands, which leads to efficient targeting and enhancement of bioavailability. To the best of our knowledge, we consider an important attempt to understand different factors that might influence the CA-4 loading and release pattern of liposomes and the consequent results in tumor therapy. The poultry red mite, Dermanyssus gallinae, is currently a significant pest in the poultry industry in Europe. Biological control by the introduction of predatory mites is one of the various options for controlling poultry red mites. Here, we present the first results of an attempt to identify potential predators by surveying the mite fauna of European starling (Sturnus vulgaris) nests, by assessing their ability to feed on poultry red mites and by testing for their inability to extract blood from bird hosts, i.e., newly hatched, young starlings and chickens. Two genuine predators of poultry red mites are identified: Hypoaspis aculeifer and Androlaelaps casalis. A review of the literature shows that some authors suspected the latter species to parasitize on the blood of birds and mammals, but they did not provide experimental evidence for these feeding habits and/or overlooked published evidence showing the reverse. We advocate careful analysis of the trophic structure of arthropods inhabiting bird nests as a basis for identifying candidate predators for control of poultry red mites. 相似文献

Gray literature and data from unpublished sources can provide important scientific information that has not been published scientifically. The Persian leopard (hereafter leopard) Panthera pardus saxicolor is classed as endangered on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and also is one of the least‐studied subspecies of leopard. It occurs in the Caucasus and Central and Southwest Asia. Iran contains more than 75% of the leopard's extant range, and the leopard population in this country serves as a source for neighboring countries. In this study, we determined the distribution and human‐caused mortality of leopards in Iran, by reviewing unpublished data and Farsi gray literature (which includes government reports) between 1 January 2010 and 30 December 2018. We created the most recent distribution map of the leopard in Iran. Our data display that human‐caused mortality of leopard in Iran mostly includes poaching and intentional poisoning, and roadkill. 相似文献

We propose a quantitative model for human smooth pursuit tracking of a continuously moving visual target which is based on
synchronization of an internal expectancy model of the target position coupled to the retinal target signal. The model predictions
are tested in a smooth circular pursuit eye tracking experiment with transient target blanking of variable duration. In subjects
with a high tracking accuracy, the model accounts for smooth pursuit and repeatedly reproduces quantitatively characteristic
patterns of the eye dynamics during target blanking. In its simplest form, the model has only one free parameter, a coupling
constant. An extended model with a second parameter, a time delay or memory term, accounts for predictive smooth pursuit eye
movements which advance the target. The model constitutes an example of synchronization of a complex biological system with
perceived sensory signals.

Applying essential oils, fumigant toxicity in stored products pests control has sharpened recently. Since these products have low penetration power and vapour pressure, their use in crop depth is restricted. The aim of this work was using controlled release technology to solve this problem. In this research, 1,8-cineole-based pellets were prepared by dry mixing method and physical load of 1,8-cineole on strach, which followed by pressing the mixture, using pellet maker apparatus, to form pellets. Insecticidal efficacy of produced pellets was investigated against adults (1–3?days old) Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Col.: Bruchidae) compared with phostoxin under 28?±?2?°C and darkness in laboratory condition. LC50 and LC95 of pellets against C. maculatus in 24?h were 0/017 and 0/050?ml active ingredient per L air, respectively. LC50 and LC95 of phosphine pellets against C. maculatus in 24?h were 0/124 and 1/852?ml active ingredient per L air, respectively. 相似文献

As canola meal protein (CMP) has a lower arginine (Arg) content than soybean meal protein (SBMP), the main objective of this study was to investigate if replacing SBMP by CMP affected the incidence of pulmonary hypertension and ascites. Two hundred and seventy broiler chicks (Ross 308) were used to evaluate the effect of replacing CMP at proportionally 0, 0.5, and 1 for SBMP in a complete randomized block design, as mentioned in the Statistical analysis section (dietary treatments designated as CMP0, CMP0.5, and CMP1, respectively). The experiment was carried out on litter flooring from 6 to 42 days of age. The results indicate that broiler performance (body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio) was significantly (P<0.05) impaired in the CMP1 group at 6–21 days but not at 21–42 days. Inclusion of canola meal (CM) in the diet significantly increased ascites and total mortality (P<0.05) and caused a decrease in the serum nitric oxide (NO) concentration with a concomitant increase (P<0.05) in the right ventricular weight ratio (RV/TV). Haematocrit, circulatory triiodothyronine and thyroxine thyroid hormone concentrations and serum alkaline phosphatase activity were unaffected by dietary treatments. In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that substitution of CMP for SBMP was associated with pulmonary hypertension (i.e., higher RV/TV) and ascites mortality in broiler chickens. 相似文献

Dieback and canker diseases are a major problem in ornamental shrubs and trees of Ahvaz, southwestern Iran. Symptomatic stems and branches were collected from two urban parks in the downtown regions of Ahvaz to identify the dieback-causing agents of Lantana camara. Accordingly, two isolates of a new species, Allophoma hayatii sp. nov., were obtained, which are described and illustrated. This species is identified based on morphological characters and analyses of nucleotide sequences of four regions, including internal transcribed spacer 1 and 2 and 5.8S nrDNA (ITS), partial large subunit 28S nrDNA (LSU-D1/D2), a partial sequence of the β-tubulin (tub2) and part of the RNA polymerase II (rpb2). The isolates of A. hayatii generated a well-supported clade in the trees constructed from multi-locus phylogenetic analysis, distinct from other previously known species of Allophoma. Pathogenicity of both isolates was verified by the inoculation of stem fragments of L. camara. These findings confirm A. hayatii as the causal agents of dieback and canker of L. camara in Ahvaz. 相似文献
