Nine compounds (MO1–MO9) containing the morpholine moiety were assessed for their inhibitory activities against monoamine oxidases (MAOs) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Most of the compounds potently inhibited MAO-B; MO1 most potently inhibited with an IC50 value of 0.030 µM, followed by MO7 (0.25 µM). MO5 most potently inhibited AChE (IC50 = 6.1 µM), followed by MO9 (IC50 = 12.01 µM) and MO7 most potently inhibited MAO-A (IC50 = 7.1 µM). MO1 was a reversible mixed-type inhibitor of MAO-B (Ki = 0.018 µM); MO5 reversibly competitively inhibited AChE (Ki = 2.52 µM); and MO9 reversibly noncompetitively inhibited AChE (Ki = 7.04 µM). MO1, MO5 and MO9 crossed the blood–brain barrier, and were non-toxic to normal VERO cells. These results show that MO1 is a selective inhibitor of MAO-B and that MO5 is a dual-acting inhibitor of AChE and MAO-B, and that both should be considered candidates for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. 相似文献
Although 2D|3D has shown potential for application in multifunctional devices, the principle of operation for multifunction devices (SOLAR Cell‐LED: SOLED) has not yet been revealed. However, most studies have reported that the devices have only one auspicious characteristic. Here in this study the SOLED devices are monitored and investigated in a 2D|3D heterostructure with a multidimensional perovskite. It is fond that a 2D|3D heterostructure with a multidimensional perovskite interface induces carrier transmission from the interface, increasing the density of electrons and holes, and increasing their recombination. An interface‐engineered perovskite 2D|3D‐heterojunction structure is employed to realize the multifunctional photonic device in on‐chip, exhibiting overall power conversion efficiencies of photovoltaics up to 21.02% under AM1.5, and external quantum efficiency of the light‐emitting diode up to 5.13%. This novel phenomenon is attributed to carrier transfer resulting in a high carrier density and enhanced carrier recombination at the 2D|3D interface. 相似文献
L-tryptophan has been used as a feed additive for swine and poultry and as a nutrient supplement for humans. However, some impurities in l-tryptophan have been reported as causative components of eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome. Therefore, from a safety perspective, it is important to analyze meat samples for these impurities. This study aims to develop an analytical method for the simultaneous detection of l-tryptophan impurities in meat products using LC–MS/MS. Among the various impurities, detection methods for (S)-2-amino-3-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid (5-hydroxytryptophan) (HTP), 1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline-3-carboxylic acid (MTCA), 3a-hydroxy-1,2,3,3a,8,8a-hexahydropyrrolo-[2,3-b]-indole-2-carboxylic acid (PIC), and 1,1′-ethylidenebistryptophan (EBT) and 2-(3-indoylmethyl)-l-tryptophan (IMT) were developed. The developed method allowed simultaneous determination of these four impurities in 5 min. No interferences from the matrix were observed, and the method showed good sensitivity to each analyte. The method detection limit and limit of quantification in meat matrices were below 11.2 and 35.7 μg/kg, respectively.

Although the genetic polymorphism of the alcohol-metabolizing enzymes was extensively studied at the molecular level by many investigators, the genetic polymorphism studies for ethanolmetabolizing enzymes in Mongolians are very rare. The present study was therefore performed to determine the genetic distribution of various forms of alcohol-metabolizing enzymes such as alcohol dehydrogenase 2 (ADH2, currently accepted nomenclature ADH1B), ADH3 (ADH1C), aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) and cytochrome P4502E1 (CYP2E1) in 300 healthy Mongolian males. Genetic polymorphisms were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods. The allele frequencies ofADH2 *1 andADH2 *2 were 0.24 and 0.76;ADH3 *1 andADH3 *2 were 0.92 and 0.08;ALDH2 *1 andALDH2 *2 were 0.96 and 0.04; andCYP2E1 *C andCYP2E1 *D were 0.15 and 0.85, respectively. Compared to the results reported by other investigators, the allele frequencies ofALDH2 *2 andCYP2E1 *C among Mongolian subjects were much lower than among East Asians (Korean, Japanese, and/or Han-Chinese), while those ofADH2 andADH3 were more similar. Summary To produce economically important indole alkaloids by cell culture, we have selected protoclones ofCatharanthus roseus for high yields of catharanthine and ajmalicine. Protoplasts were enzymatically isolated from suspension-cultured cells.
Protoclone VPC-10 produced catharanthine at 5.9 μg/g fresh wt of cells after 10 days of culture, although the original cell
line did not produce it at a level detectable by HPLC. Under the same conditions, protoclone VPC-15 produced ajmalicine at
133.6 μg/g, which was about 3 times the productivity of the original cell line. In addition, the indole alkaloids were qualitatively

The incidence of imported malaria has been increasing in Korea. We reviewed data retrospectively to evaluate the epidemiology, clinical features, and outcomes of imported malaria from 1995 to 2007 in a university hospital. All patients diagnosed with imported malaria were included. Imported malaria was defined as a positive smear for malaria that was acquired in a foreign country. A total of 49 patients (mean age, 35.7 year; M : F = 38 : 11) were enrolled. The predominant malarial species was Plasmodium falciparum (73.5%), and the most frequent area of acquisition was Africa (55.1%), followed by Southeast Asia (22.4%) and South Asia (18.4%). Fourteen-patients (30.6%) suffered from severe malaria caused by P. falciparum and 1 patient (2.0%) died of multiorgan failure. Most of the patients were treated with mefloquine (79.2%) or quinine (10.2%); other antimalarial agents had to be given in 13.2% treated with mefloquine and 44.4% with quinine due to adverse drug events (ADEs). P. falciparum was the most common cause of imported malaria, with the majority of cases acquired from Africa, and a significant number of patients had severe malaria. Alternative antimalarial agents with lower rates of ADEs might be considered for effective treatment instead of mefloquine and quinine. 相似文献
