The joint forces and moments driving the motion of a human subject are classically computed by an inverse dynamic calculation. However, even if this process is theoretically simple, many sources of errors may lead to huge inaccuracies in the results. Moreover, a direct comparison with in vivo measured loads or with "gold standard" values from literature is only possible for very specific studies. Therefore, assessing the inaccuracy of inverse dynamic results is not a trivial problem and a simple method is still required. This paper presents a simple method to evaluate both: (1) the consistency of the results obtained by inverse dynamics; (2) the influence of possible modifications in the inverse dynamic hypotheses. This technique concerns recursive calculation performed on full kinematic chains, and consists in evaluating the loads obtained by two different recursive strategies. It has been applied to complex 3D whole body movements of balance recovery. A recursive Newton-Euler procedure was used to compute the net joint loads. Two models were used to represent the subject bodies, considering or not the upper body as a unique rigid segment. The inertial parameters of the body segments were estimated from two different sets of scaling equations [De Leva, P., 1996. Adjustments to Zatsiorsky-Suleyanov's segment inertia parameters. Journal of Biomechanics 29, 1223-1230; Dumas, R., Chèze, L., Verriest, J.-P., 2006b. Adjustments to McConville et al. and Young et al. Body Segment Inertial Parameters. Journal of Biomechanics, in press]. Using this comparison technique, it has been shown that, for the balance recovery motions investigated: (1) the use of the scaling equations proposed by Dumas et al., instead of those proposed by De Leva, improves the consistency of the results (average relative influence up to 30% for the transversal moment); (2) the arm motions dynamically influence the recovery motion in a non negligible way (average relative influence up to 15% and 30% for the longitudinal force and the transversal moment, respectively).  相似文献

The detrimental effects of genetic erosion on small isolated populations are widely recognized contrary to their interactions with environmental changes. The ability of genotypes to plastically respond to variability is probably essential for the persistence of these populations. Genetic erosion impact may be exacerbated if inbreeding affects plastic responses or if their maintenance were at higher phenotypic costs. To understand the interplay 'genetic erosion-fitness-phenotypic plasticity', we experimentally compared, in different environments, the larval performances and plastic responses to predation of European tree frogs (Hyla arborea) from isolated and connected populations. Tadpoles from isolated populations were less performant, but the traits affected were environmental dependant. Heterosis observed in crosses between isolated populations allowed attributing their low fitness to inbreeding. Phenotypic plasticity can be maintained in the face of genetic erosion as inducible defences in response to predator were identical in all populations. However, the higher survival and developmental costs for isolated populations in harsh conditions may lead to an additional fitness loss for isolated populations.  相似文献

Autophagy, a highly regulated programme found in almost all eukaryotes, is mainly viewed as a catabolic process that degrades nonessential cellular components into molecular building blocks, subsequently available for biosynthesis at a lesser expense than de novo synthesis. Autophagy is largely known to be regulated by nutritional conditions. Here we show that, in yeast cells grown under nonstarving conditions, autophagy can be induced by mitochondrial dysfunction. Electron micrographs and biochemical studies show that an autophagic activity can result from impairing the mitochondrial electrochemical transmembrane potential. Furthermore, mitochondrial damage-induced autophagy results in the preferential degradation of impaired mitochondria (mitophagy), before leading to cell death. Mitophagy appears to rely on classical macroautophagy machinery while being independent of cellular ATP collapse. These results suggest that in this case, autophagy can be envisioned either as a process of mitochondrial quality control, or as an ultimate cellular response triggered when cells are overwhelmed with damaged mitochondria.  相似文献

The effect of eccentric contraction on force generation and intracellular pH (pH(i)) regulation was investigated in rat soleus muscle. Eccentric muscle damage was induced by stretching muscle bundles by 30% of the optimal length for a series of 10 tetani. After eccentric contractions, there was reduction in force at all stimulation frequencies and a greater reduction in relative force at low-stimulus frequencies. There was also a shift of optimal length to longer lengths. pH(i) was measured with a pH-sensitive probe, 2',7'-bis-(2-carboxyethyl)-5(6)-carboxyfluorescein AM. pH(i) regulation was studied by inducing an acute acid load with the removal of 20-40 mM ammonium chloride, and the rate of pH(i) recovery was monitored. The acid extrusion rate was obtained by multiplying the rate of pH(i) recovery by the buffering power. The resting pH(i) after eccentric contractions was more acidic, and the rate of recovery from acid load post-eccentric contractions was slower than that from postisometric controls. This is further supported by the slower acid extrusion rate. Amiloride slowed the recovery from an acid load in control experiments. Because the Na(+)/H(+) exchanger is the dominant mechanism for the recovery of pH(i), this suggests that the impairment in the ability of the muscle to regulate pH(i) after eccentric contractions is caused by decreased activity of the Na(+)/H(+) exchanger.  相似文献

The human respiratory neural drive has an automatic component (bulbospinal pathway) and a volitional component (corticospinal pathway). The aim of this study was to assess the effects of a hypercapnia-induced increase in the automatic respiratory drive on the function of the diaphragmatic corticospinal pathway as independently as possible of any other influence. Thirteen healthy volunteers breathed room air and then 5 and 7% hyperoxic CO2. Cervical (cms) and transcranial (tms) magnetic stimulations were performed during early inspiration and expiration. Transdiaphragmatic pressure (Pdi) and surface electromyogram of the diaphragm (DiEMG) and of the abductor pollicis brevis (apbEMG) were recorded in response to cms and tms. During inspiration, Pdi,cms was unaffected by CO2, but Pdi,tms increased significantly with 7% CO2. During expiration, Pdi,cms was significantly reduced by CO2, whereas Pdi,tms was preserved. DiEMG,tms latencies decreased significantly during early inspiration and expiration (air vs. 5% CO2 and air vs. 7% CO2). DiEMG,tms amplitude increased significantly in response to early expiration-tms (air vs. 5% CO2 and air vs. 7% CO2) but not in response to early inspiration-tms. DiEMG,cms latencies and amplitudes were not affected by CO2 whereas 7% CO2 significantly increased the apbEMG,cms latency. The apbEMG,tms vs. apbEMG,cms latency difference was unaffected by CO2. In conclusion, increasing the automatic drive to breathe facilitates the response of the diaphragm to tms, during both inspiration and expiration. This could allow the corticospinal drive to breathe to keep the capacity to modulate respiration in conditions under which the automatic respiratory control is stimulated.  相似文献
