In a study of 99 patients with pernicious anaemia the incidence of clinical rheumatoid arthritis was normal but rheumatoid factor was present significantly more often than in controls. A new method using chemiluminescence (CL) detection has been developed for the simple determination of ketotifen fumarate (KF). The method is based on the catalytic effect of KF in the CL reaction of tris(1,10 phenanthroline)ruthenium(II), Ru(phen)32+, with Ce(IV) in sulfuric acid medium. The CL response was detected using a lab‐made chemiluminometer. Effects of chemical variables were investigated and under optimum conditions, the CL intensity was proportional to the concentration of the drug over the range 0.34‐34.00 µg mL?1 KF. The limit of detection (S/N=3) was 0.09 µg mL?1. Effects of common ingredients were investigated and the method was applied successfully for determining KF in pharmaceutical formulations and human plasma. The percent of relative standard deviation (n=11) at level of 3.4 µg mL?1 of KF was 4.6% and the minimum sampling rate was 70 samples per hour. The possible CL mechanism is proposed based on the kinetic characteristic of the CL reaction, CL spectrum, UV‐Vis and phosphorescence spectra. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Wild screening of bacterial strains from compost materials was performed. Several biosurfactant-producer strains were isolated and then cultured in whey as a low-cost medium for biosurfactant production. Two strains, identified as Bacillus sp. and Streptomyces sp., were the best biosurfactant producers and were selected for determination of compost quality enhancing. The effect of cell biomass, cell-free supernatant, and a consortium of these two strains on compost quality were determined and specific parameters of compost were analyzed. The results showed that using these bacteria (or supernatants) in compost processing have slight stimulatory effect on bacterial population (8.08 log10 CFU/g), surface tension reduction (to 42.6 mN/m at 24 h), and heavy metal bioremediation (>50 % in most treatments), speeding up the decomposition rate of organic matter (42.3 % OM at the end of experiment), accelerating the stabilization process by reduction of NH 4 + to NO 3 ? ratio (reduced from 0.2 to 0.026), decreasing the biotoxicity (tested by seed germination and root length of germinated seed), and also reduction of pathogens (reduced from 2100 to 120 MPN/g in fecal coliform).  相似文献

In this study a novel strain was isolated with the capability to grow on eugenol as a source of carbon and energy. This strain was identified as Pseudomonas resinovorans (GenBank accession no. HQ198585) based on phenotypic characterization and phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA gene. The intermediates coniferyl alcohol, coniferyl aldehyde, ferulic acid, vanillin and vanillic acid were detected in the culture supernatant during eugenol biotransformation with this strain. The products were confirmed by thin layer chromatography (TLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and spectral data achieved from UV-vis, FTIR and mass spectroscopy. Using eugenol as substrate and resting cells of P. resinovorans SPR1, which were harvested at the end of the exponential growth phase, without further optimization 0.24 g/L vanillin (molar yield of 10%) and 1.1g/L vanillic acid (molar yield of 44%) were produced after 30 h and 60 h biotransformation, respectively. The current work gives the first evidence for the eugenol biotransformation by P. resinovorans.  相似文献

Human infections with H5, H7, and H9 avian influenza viruses are well documented. Exposure to poultry is the most important risk factor for humans becoming infected with these viruses. Data on human infection with other low pathogenicity avian influenza viruses is sparse but suggests that such infections may occur. Lebanon is a Mediterranean country lying under two major migratory birds flyways and is home to many wild and domestic bird species. Previous reports from this country demonstrated that low pathogenicity avian influenza viruses are in circulation but highly pathogenic H5N1 viruses were not reported. In order to study the extent of human infection with avian influenza viruses in Lebanon, we carried out a seroprevalence cross-sectional study into which 200 poultry-exposed individuals and 50 non-exposed controls were enrolled. We obtained their sera and tested it for the presence of antibodies against avian influenza viruses types H4 through H16 and used a questionnaire to collect exposure data. Our microneutralization assay results suggested that backyard poultry growers may have been previously infected with H4 and H11 avian influenza viruses. We confirmed these results by using a horse red blood cells hemagglutination inhibition assay. Our data also showed that farmers with antibodies against each virus type clustered in a small geographic area suggesting that unrecognized outbreaks among birds may have led to these human infections. In conclusion, this study suggests that occupational exposure to chicken is a risk factor for infection with avian influenza especially among backyard growers and that H4 and H11 influenza viruses may possess the ability to cross the species barrier to infect humans.  相似文献
