Sequence data from nuclear (ITS) and chloroplast (trnL-F) regions for 89 accessions representing 56 out of 64 species from all five genera of the tribe Chorisporeae (plus Dontostemon tibeticus) have been studied to test the monophyly of the tribe and its component genera, clarify its boundaries, and elucidate its phylogenetic position in the family. Both data sets showed strong support for the monophyly of the Chorisporeae as currently delimited, though the position of its tentative member D. tibeticus was not resolved by ITS. Parrya and Pseudoclausia are poly- and paraphyletic with regard to each other, and Chorispora is either polyphyletic or at least paraphyletic (comprising Diptychocarpus) within a weakly supported monophyletic clade. The incongruence in branching pattern among the markers was most likely caused by hybridization and possibly influenced by incomplete lineage sorting. The present results suggest uniting Pseudoclausia, Clausia podlechii, and Achoriphragma with Parrya and transferring P. beketovii and P. saposhnikovii to Leiospora (Euclidieae). We also obtained support for splitting Chorispora into two geographically defined groups, one of which is closer to Diptychocarpus. Both data sets revealed a close relationship of the Chorisporeae to Dontostemoneae, while ITS also indicated affinity to Hesperideae. Therefore, the position of Chorisporeae needs further verification.  相似文献

Dated molecular phylogenetic trees show that the Andean uplift had a major impact on South American biodiversity. For many Andean groups, accelerated diversification (radiation) has been documented. However, not all Andean lineages appear to have diversified following the model of rapid radiation, particularly in the central and southern Andes. Here, we investigated the diversification patterns for the largest South American‐endemic lineage of Brassicaceae, composed of tribes Cremolobeae, Eudemeae and Schizopetaleae (CES clade). Species of this group inhabit nearly all Andean biomes and adjacent areas including the Atacama–Sechura desert, the Chilean Matorral and the Patagonian Steppe. First, we studied diversification times and historical biogeography of the CES clade. Second, we analysed diversification rates through time, lineages and associated life forms. Results demonstrate that early diversification of the CES clade occurred in the early to mid‐Miocene (c. 12–19 Mya) and involved the central Andes, the southern Andes and the Patagonian Steppe, and the Atacama–Sechura desert. The Chilean Matorral and northern Andes were colonized subsequently in the early Pliocene (4–5 Mya). Diversification of the CES clade was recovered as a gradual process without any evidence for rate shifts or rapid radiation, in contrast to many other Andean groups analysed so far. Diversification time/rates and biogeographical patterns obtained for the CES clade are discussed and compared with patterns and conclusions reported for other Andean plant lineages.  相似文献

Arabidopsis thaliana is the preeminent plant model organism. However, significant advances in evolution and ecology are being made by expanding the scope of research beyond this single species into the broader genus Arabidopsis. Surprisingly, few studies have rigorously investigated phylogenetic relationships between the nine Arabidopsis species, and this study evaluates both these and hypotheses related to two instances of intra-generic hybridization. DNA sequences from the 5' flanking region of the nuclear Atmyb2 gene from 12 of the 14 Arabidopsis taxa were used to reconstruct the generic phylogeny. The strict consensus tree was highly concordant with previous studies, identifying lineages corresponding to widespread species but exhibiting a large basal polytomy. Our data indicates that the paternal parent of the allopolyploid A. suecica is A. neglecta rather than A. arenosa s.l., although the need for a detailed phylogeographical study of these three species is noted. Finally, our data provided additional phylogenetic evidence of hybridization between Arabidopsis lyrata s.l. and A. halleri s.l. Taken together, the well-defined lineages within the genus and the potential for hybridization between them highlight Arabidopsis as a promising group for comparative and experimental studies of hybridization.  相似文献

An acetone extract obtained from aerial parts of S. stricta Boiss. & Heldr. apud Bentham, its fractions and phenolic compounds were investigated for their in vivo anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities. For the anti-inflammatory activity and for the antinociceptive activity assessment, carrageenan-induced hind paw edema and p-benzoquinone-induced abdominal constriction tests were used, respectively. The acetone extract of the plant and its phenolic fraction exhibited potent inhibitory activity against both bioassay models in mice. From the active phenolic fraction a well-known phenylethanoid glycoside, verbascoside (acteoside) (1), and two flavonoid glycosides, isoscutellarein 7-O-[6"'-O-acetyl-beta-D-allopyranosyl-(1-->2)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2) and isoscutellarein 7-O-[6"'-O-acetyl-beta-D-allopyranosyl-(1-->2)]-6"-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), were isolated. During phytochemical studies we also isolated a methoxyflavone, xanthomicrol (4), from the non-polar fraction. The structures of the isolated compounds were established by spectroscopic evidence (UV, IR, 1D- and 2D-NMR, MS). Although antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of the phenolic components were found not significant in the statistical analysis, compounds 1 to 3 showed a notable activity without inducing any apparent acute toxicity as well as gastric damage. Furthermore, a mixture of flavonoid glycosides (2 + 3) exhibited a significant inhibitory effect in both models at a higher dose.  相似文献

Abstract The Hengduan Mountains region of south‐west China is a noted biodiversity hotspot, but the geographic origins and historical assembly of its rich endemic flora, including the sky‐island species of Solms‐laubachia Muschl. (Brassicaceae), have been little studied. Previous molecular studies on the phylogeny of Solms‐laubachia showed it to be paraphyletic, leading to considerable expansion not only of its taxonomic limits, but also its geographic range, with the inclusion of taxa from outside the Hengduan region. However, these studies provided little resolution of interspecific relationships, preventing inferences about historical biogeography within the clade. In the present study, new sequence data from two nuclear genes (LEAFY and G3pdh) and two chloroplast intergenic spacers (petN–psbM and psbM–trnD) were combined with existing markers to increase phylogenetic signals. Phaeonychium villosum (Maxim.) Al‐Shehbaz was found to be nested within Solms‐laubachia s.l. In general, phylogenetic relationships appear to be a good predictor of geography, with the Hengduan Mountain endemics embedded in a paraphyletic grade of species from the western Himalayas and central Asia, but they also imply morphological homoplasy. Incongruence was detected between the nuclear and chloroplast gene trees, perhaps resulting from incomplete lineage sorting of ancestral polymorphisms. The crown age of Solms‐laubachia s.l. was estimated to be approximately 1.42–3.68 mya, using Bayesian relaxed molecular clock analysis. Historical biogeographic analysis using a parametric dispersal–extinction–cladogenesis model inferred central Asia and the western Himalayas as most probable ancestral range of Solms‐laubachia s.l., and estimated higher rates of eastward expansion than westward during the diversification of descendant lineages. In summary, our results suggest that Solms‐laubachia s.l. originated during the Pliocene in central Asia, and subsequently migrated eastward into the Hengduan Mountains, colonizing sky‐island, alpine scree‐slope habitats that may have provided novel ecological opportunity and accelerated speciation, ultimately establishing this region as the present center of diversity of the genus.  相似文献

Four varieties of maize differing in drought resistance and geographical origin (Swabi White and Shaheen from Pakistan, Garbo and Goldprinz from Germany) were analyzed for their proline and abscisic acid (ABA) accumulation during a prolonged water stress period. Proline levels increased continuously during the stress period in all the four varieties, but to different amounts. The drought-susceptible varieties Shaheen and Goldprinz produced higher levels of proline than the drought-resistant varieties Swabi White and Garbo. A negative correlation was also found between maximal ABA contents and degree of drought resistance during prolonged stress of younger plants. ABA levels did not increase steadily, but reached a maximum long before the end of the stress phase, and then declined. The results are discussed in relation to the possibility of using proline and ABA levels as biochemical indicators of resistance against drought.  相似文献

Summary The total amount of adenine nucleotides was not changed when non-growing cells of a chlorophyll-free, carotenoid-containing mutant of Chlorella vulgaris Beijerinck (211–11 h/20) were transferred from darkness into blue light (<550 nm, 300 W cm-2). However the level of ATP increased significantly immediately after the onset of blue illumination, while that of both ADP and AMP decreased (Table 1). Induction period, intensity dependency and wave-length dependency of the light-induced change in ATP-concentration (Figs. 1–3) resemble those of the long-known enhancement of respiration by blue light. The observed increase in ATP does not support the often proposed idea of enhanced carbohydrate breakdown being the result of a reduced ATP-level, but rather seems to arise from enhanced substrate degradation.
