Clinical efficacy of a novel antimicrobial drug combination containing ciprofloxacin and tinidazole in the treatment of patients with skin and soft tissue infections]

Clinical and microbiological efficacies of a combined drug, a fixed combination of ciprofloxacin and tinidazole in the form of tablets (Cifran ST, Ranbaxy, India) were studied. The drug was given to 40 patients with skin and soft tissue infections in the complex surgical treatment. The clinical effect and bacteriological efficacy were observed in 97.5 and 75% of the cases respectively. The drug tolerability was good and no adverse reactions were stated.     

Study of factors determining the clonogenic capacity of irradiated cells by computer simulation

The methods of the multifactor disperse analysis of the results of studies of the simulation model of the effect of ionizing radiation on cell populations were used to study the role of some characteristics of the stationary culture in its response to a single radiation effect. The clonogenic capacity of cells was used as a criterion for assessing the biological effect of radiation. "The share of resting cells" was a predominant factor influencing the survival of irradiated cell populations.     

The eosinophil--the human blood cell superaffined to endotoxin

With the help of immunofluorescent diagnostic system (specific immunoglobulins against glycolipid of S. minnesota Re-595) has been shown to permit the detection of endotoxin into eosinophil. Statistically significant differences in the occurrence of endotoxin in eosinophils of patients and healthy persons have been revealed. These data allow us to suppose that eosinophils are superaffined endotoxin-interaction cells of the human blood. Eosinopenia may be taken into account as an indirect marker of systemic LPS O-antigen mediated endotoxinemia.     

Interaction of substrates and their analogs with adenosylcobalamine-dependent glycerol dehydratase]

The interaction of AdoCbl-dependent glycerol dehydratase with the substrates (glycerol, 1,2-propandiol, ethylene glycol) and their analogs (aliphatic diols) was studied kinetically. It was found that all the diols tested are competitive inhibitors of the enzyme with respect to substrates. The arrangement of hydroxyl groups in the molecule, the length of the carbohydrate chain and the nature of the substituent at the C-3 atom are essential for the binding of diol in the active center. The ternary enzyme-AdoCbl-substrate (analog) complexes are subjected to specific inactivation at a rate, which depends on the chemical structure of the substrate (analog). The constants for inactivation and dissociation of the ternary complexes were determined. It was shown that in contrast to the double complexes (enzyme-AdoCbl), the inactivation of the ternary complexes does not depend on oxygen. Some aspects of the mechanism of specific inactivation of glycerol dehydratase are discussed.
