Effects of Age, Water Stress, and 1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic Acid on Leaflet Movement in Albizzia julibrissin 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0 下载免费PDF全文
The movement patterns of Albizzia julibrissin leaflets transferred from light to darkness differ for leaflets of different age: the older the leaflet, the slower and less completely it closes. Water stress, which enhances ethylene synthesis in other plants, and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC), precursor of ethylene, both mimic the effect of aging by reducing the rate and extent of dark-induced closure. Brief far-red compared to red irradiation before darkness does not appear to alter the closure of young leaflets, but far-red preirradiation retards the closure of middle-aged and old leaflets floating on water, and middle-aged leaflets treated with ACC. A change in some membrane property and/or cell wall lignification are suggested as possible explanations for the alteration of leaflet movement. 相似文献

The relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of 239Pu alpha particles, fission neutrons (0.85 MeV), and 60Co gamma rays has been evaluated for the induction of reciprocal chromosome translocations in spermatogonia and of chromosome/chromatid fragments and chromatid rearrangements in the primary spermatocyte of adult male B6CF1 mice. Age concurrency was maintained for both internal and external radiations which were delivered at about 1 rad/week for 239Pu (single intravenous dose of 10 microCi/kg), 0.67, 1.67, and 2.67 rad/week for neutrons, and 6.95, 17.4, and 32 rad/week for gamma rays for at least 60 weeks. In terms of frequency of translocations, the response to the alpha emitter was nonlinear (concave downward) with little dose-response predictability; to cumulative neutron exposures the response was linear, without evidence of a dose-rate effect; and to gamma radiation the responses were linear, and a significant dose-rate effect was seen. RBE estimates are variable. For translocations, the n/gamma ratio is between 10 and 24, depending upon weekly dose level, and the ratio is 1 or less for the alpha particle relative to the neutron. For fragments, the n/gamma ratio is 18 to 22, depending upon age factors, and alpha/n is 1.5. For chromatid rearrangements, n/gamma is 7 and alpha/n is essentially indeterminate, but much below one. The overall response to the alpha emitter is interpreted to be a complex function of (a) microdosimetric heterogeneity, (b) a nearly invariant deposition pattern in the gonad, (c) the high sensitivity of differentiating spermatogonia to cell killing, and (d) the capacity of stem cells in relatively radiation-free areas to progressively assume the major spermatogenic role. 相似文献

The glycosaminoglycan composition of human amniotic fluid between 12–21 weeks gestation has been studied by Dowex column chromatography coupled with enzymatic analyses of the specific glycosaminoglycan in each column fraction. The total uronic acid recovered from the columns consisted of “glycopeptides” (7%), hyaluronic acid (34%), nonsulfated chondroitin (14%), chondroitin-4-sulfate (13%), chondroitin-6-sulfate (20%), dermatan sulfate (5%), and heparan sulfate (6%). Based on these studies a simple screening procedure was devised to detect increased quantities of heparan sulfate and dermatan sulfate in 5–10-ml samples of amniotic fluid and tested in the antenatal diagnosis of Hurler and Hunter's syndrome. A false negative result was recorded in a Hunter fluid obtained early gestation and a false positive result recorded in a normal fluid obtained at
weeks. These data suggest that the time in gestation when amniotic fluid is sampled for chemical analysis is an important variable affecting glycosaminoglycan composition in both normal and pathological pregnancies. 相似文献

Summary The effects of BrdU (3×10–4 M) on morphogenesis of the chick embryo explanted at the definitive streak stage and cultured for 24 hours were studied. Compared to controls treated embryos often showed (1) an open neural tube and (2) less numerous somites. Heart development was not significantly affected by BrdU. The damage caused by BrdU was not permanent, i.e., the embryos retained the ability to undergo fairly normal morphogenesis when, after 4–5 hours of BrdU treatment, they were subcultured on a medium with excess thymidine.This study was supported by a grant from the Rutgers University Research Council No. 07-2189. 相似文献
