The common pistachio psylla, Agonoscena pistaciae (Hemiptera: Aphalaridae) is one of the most detrimental pests to pistachio trees. Nowadays various pesticides are used to control the common pistachio psylla, but extensive pesticide spraying against this pest over a period of several years has overpowered its natural enemies. The plant’s byproducts come as an alternative ecologically more compatible in substitution to the synthetic insecticides. This work aims to evaluate the insecticidal potential of herbal extracts of fruit peels of Citrus sinensis and Citrus reticulata, seeds of C. sinensis and Rubia tinctorum, and leaves of Lawsonia inermis against common pistachio psylla. Five concentration 40, 47, 56, 67 and 80 µl/ml, of these plant extracts were sprayed on the fifth instar nymphs of common pistachio psylla by Potter Spray Tower under laboratory conditions (26?±?2?°C, 60–70% RH and a photoperiod of 16L: 8D h). Results showed significant differences among the treatments of the plant extracts and between the concentrations. The LC50 values of C. sinensis peels, C. reticulata peels, C. sinensis seeds, R. tinctorum seeds and L. inermis leaves were 62.04, 38.84, 43.60, 59.01 and 33.99 µl/ml, respectively. Also, all extracts showed the greatest mortality effect in 80 µl/ml concentration. According to these results, these plant extracts may use as herbal pesticides chemical control programme of common pistachio psylla.  相似文献

Summary Studies of nuclear and chloroplastic-DNA repair after ultraviolet irradiation of Euglena gracilis show that photoreactivation is very efficient at both the nuclear and chloroplastic level. Liquid-holding or split-dose experiments and treatment with caffeine reveal, furthermore, that dark-repair is very efficient in nuclear DNA but not in chloroplastic DNA (ctDNA). The possibility of a chloroplastic dark-repair of restricted efficiency is discussed.Determination of chloroplastic DNA content by reassociation kinetics indicates that an important degradation follows UV irradiation during liquid holding in the dark.  相似文献

An epizootic of the fungal infection saprolegniosis that occurred in freshwater-cultured salmons and their eggs at some hatcheries in Hokkaido (Japan) was investigated. In almost all cases, the initial clinical sign was characterized by the growth of cotton-like mycelia on the fishs' body surface, especially the head, adipose fin, and caudal fin, but the mycelia were not visible to the naked eye in the internal organs. Thirty-three strains isolated from lesions were classified in the genus Saprolegnia according to their morphological and biological characteristics on hemp seed cultures at various temperatures. Fifteen of the strains were identified as Saprolegnia parasitica, 16 were identified as S. salmonis, and two were identified as S. australis.  相似文献

Three acylated flavonol diglucosides, kaempferol 3-O-β-(6″-O-E-p-coumaroylglucoside)-7-O-β-glucoside; quercetin 3-O-β-(6″-O-E-p-coumaroylglucoside)-7-O-β-glucoside; isorhamnetin 3-O-β-(6″-O-E-p-coumaroylglucoside)-7-O-β-glucoside were isolated from the whole plant aqueous alcohol extract of Lotus polyphyllos. The known 3,7-di-O-glucosides of the aglycones kaempferol, quercetin and isorhamnetin were also characterized. All structures were established on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence.  相似文献

In the developing Drosophila eye, cell fate determination and pattern formation are directed by cell-cell interactions mediated by signal transduction cascades. Mutations at the rugose locus (rg) result in a rough eye phenotype due to a disorganized retina and aberrant cone cell differentiation, which leads to reduction or complete loss of cone cells. The cone cell phenotype is sensitive to the level of rugose gene function. Molecular analyses show that rugose encodes a Drosophila A kinase anchor protein (DAKAP 550). Genetic interaction studies show that rugose interacts with the components of the EGFR- and Notch-mediated signaling pathways. Our results suggest that rg is required for correct retinal pattern formation and may function in cell fate determination through its interactions with the EGFR and Notch signaling pathways.  相似文献

Fusarium populations were investigated in maize grains and their husks about six weeks before harvest in three maize fields in the Manawatu region of New Zealand. The role of litter and soil as reservoirs for these fungi was also examined. Two techniques were used to examine populations, dilution plating and direct plating. Using the dilution plating technique the highest overall populations were found in husks (mean 2.2 x 10(5)/g) and litter (mean 1.4 x 10(5)/g), while similar lower numbers of viable propagules were obtained from grain (mean 2.1 x 10(3)/g) and soil (2.8 x 10(3)/g). With this technique five Fusarium spp. were commonly isolated; F. graminearum (Gibberella zeae), F. culmorum, F. subglutinans, F. oxysporum and F. acuminatum, of which F. graminearum was the most abundant. With the direct plating technique 87% of grains were infected with Fusarium spp., with some grains being infected with more than one species. Segments from husks and litter, 70% and 43% respectively, were colonised by Fusariumr spp. F. graminearum was the most frequent species isolated from maize grain and husk segments (48.3 and 37.7% colonisation respectively). Other species, particularly F. culmorum and F. acuminatum, were also found to be common contaminants. A total of 15 Fusarium spp. was recovered from all material examined by both techniques. Cultures with characteristics resembling those of F. moniliforme were rarely observed.  相似文献

Summary A regeneration system was developed for elite Egyptain maize inbred lines using immature embryos as explants. This system proved to be highly genotype-dependent. Line Gz 643 was identified as the best line, revealing the highest regeneration frequency (42.2%). Addition of l-proline and silver nitrate to culture media greatly enhanced the formation of embryogenic type II callus and the regenerability of some of the tested lines. Transformation of the scutellar tissue of immature embryos from inbred line Gz643 was performed with the particle delivery system using a single plasmid carrying both the GUS and Bar genes (pAB-6) or by co-transformation with two plasmids, pAct1-F (GUS) and pTW-a(Bar). Different transformation parameters were evaluated, i.e. ostomic treatment, acceleration pressure, and number of shots. Osmotic treatment (0.25 M sorbitol + 0.25 M mannitol) along with the use of either acceleration pressure 1300 psi and one shot per plate (for co-transformation with pAB-6) or 1100 psi and two shots per plate (for transformation with pAct1-F and pTW-a) gave the best results, as expressed by the number of blue spots in the β-glucuronidase (GUS) assay. Stable transformation was confirmed in Ro transformed plants by means of histochemical GUS assay and herbicide application. PCR and Southern blot analysis proved the integration of the full-length genes in some of the transgenics.  相似文献

Nitrogen catch crops help to reduce the loss of nitrogen from arable cropping systems during autumn and winter. The ability of catch crops to absorb nitrogen from the soil profile is affected by rate and depth of colonization of the soil by roots. The aim of the current work was to analyze total root length and root length density of catch crops in relation to above ground growth, nitrogen supply and crop species. In two field experiments roots were sampled with an auger. Experimental factors included crop species (winter rye, Secale cereale and forage rape, Brassica napus ssp. oleifera (Metzg.) Sinsk., or oil radish, Raphanus sativus spp. oleiferus (DC.) Metzg.), two sowing dates S1 and S2 (end of August and three weeks later) and two nitrogen treatments: N0, no nitrogen applied, and N1, nitrogen applied at non-limiting rate.The natural logarithm of the total root length, measured in the top 40 cm, L0–40 (km m-2), was linearly related to natural logarithm of the dry weight of the shoot, W (g m-2). There was no effect of species or sowing date on this relation. For a given W, N1 treatments showed lower values of L0–40 than N0 treatments. The decline in root length density, D (cm cm-3), with depth, X (cm), was described with the function ln D = ln D0 – qX, where D0 is the value of D at zero depth and q the linear coefficient. D0 was linearly related to L0–40, without effect of species, time of observation or N supply. The ratio D0/q, an estimate of the absolute root length, was 1.24 × L0–40.Together the relations enable estimates to be made of total root length and of root length distribution with depth using shoot dry weight of catch crops and its change with time as input. The generation of such estimates of root distribution is necessary for model studies in which the efficacy of catch crops to prevent N losses is evaluated in relation to sowing dates, distribution of N in the soil profile and the distribution of rainfall in the season.  相似文献

Breeding male hornyhead chub Nocomis biguttatus constructed nests in areas with relatively high but less than maximum flow rate and greater than average water depth. Nests comprised c. 3000 pebbles for a total mass of 11 kg. Males selected pebbles of smaller diameter but higher density than pebbles in the immediate vicinity. Thus, nests balanced the risk of mound erosion and energetic cost of nest construction with the benefits of protection from egg predators and a stable internal flow rate for oxygenation. These data help establish environmental management goals for the conservation of N. biguttatus and the lotic ecosystems dependent upon them.  相似文献
