The absorption and CD spectra of the complexes of poly(L -arginine) (PLA) and azo dyes have been measured in aqueous solution. On complexation, Blue-shifted additional absorption bands were observed. In the wide pH 4–11 range, induced CD was observed at the visible wavelengths corresponding to the blue-shifted absorption bands. The induced CD arose from the dimeric dye molecules bound to PLA in the α-helical structure. When a modified analysis of induced CE is made by the excition chirality method, the origin of the induced CD can be assigned to the dipole coupling. The PLA–dye complexes showed the counterlockwise (negative, S) chirality of the transition dipole moments of dyes.  相似文献

Vegetative and reproductive structures of the little‐known red alga, Meristotheca coacta Okamura (Solieriaceae, Gigartinales) were described on the basis of specimens collected from three localities in southern Japan, including an island close to the lectotype locality. Meristotheca coacta was shown to be a strongly supported monophyletic clade in our rbcL analyses. The taxonomic features of this species were reassessed. This species is characterized as follows: (i) the thalli consist of relatively thick (300–1400 μm from the uppermost to basal regions), elastic and rose‐red blades; (ii) the blades are irregularly lobed and branched into variously shaped segments with undulate and crispate margins; (iii) tetrasporangial initials are laterally attached to their parental cells and the lateral pit‐connections remain in mature tetrasporangia; (iv) gametophytes are dioecious; (v) carpogonial branches are three‐celled (occasionally two‐ or four‐celled); (vi) a darkly staining auxiliary cell complex is present and recognizable prior to diploidization; and (vii) cystocarps are produced along (or near) the margins of the blades and on the marginal proliferations and lack spinous outgrowths.  相似文献

Increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is a key event leading to microvascular complications, including nephropathy, in diabetes mellitus (DM). Excessive ROS and oxidative stress in DM have been reported to be associated with subsequent impaired nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability. The aim of this study is to examine the beneficial function of dietary nitrite supplementation as an interventional NO donor to attenuate early progression of diabetic nephropathy. To test this hypothesis, male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: non-diabetic rats given water with or without nitrite (nitrite-treated or untreated, respectively), and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats given water with or without nitrite (nitrite-treated or untreated, respectively). After a 4 week experimental period, untreated diabetic rats exhibited significantly higher malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in the kidney compared with untreated non-diabetic rats, accompanied by a reduction in levels of endogenous NO synthase-derived nitrite. However, dietary nitrite supplementation to diabetic rats not only decreased MDA levels but also increased nitrite levels in the kidney to the same levels as in the non-diabetic kidney. These improvements accompanied an improvement in the parameters of glomerular injury, including urinary protein and albumin excretion, histopathological glomerular hypertrophy, and mesangial matrix accumulation. These results indicate that dietary nitrite is effective in the prevention of early diabetic glomerular injury in which NO bioavailability is impaired.  相似文献

Pranidipine, a new calcium channel modulator, prolonged endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by acetylcholine in a aortic ring preparation, contracted with prostaglandin F2. This action was not shared by amlodipine. The effect was not modified by indomethacin, suggesting that the action of pranidipine does not involve prostanoid metabolism. NG-nitro-L-arginine completely prevented the action of Pranidipine. The drug affected neither nitric oxide (NO) synthase activity nor the level of cyclic GMP in the vessel. Pranidipine did not affect the sensitivity of the contractile proteins to calcium. Pranidipine also did not alter cyclic GMP-induced relaxation in a-toxinskinned vascular preparations. Pranidipine also prolonged glyceryl trinitrate-induced relaxation in the endothelium denuded rat aorta. Furthermore, pranidipine enhanced relaxation of the aorta induced by glyceryl trinitrate even in the presence of methylene blue, a guanylyl cyclase inhibitor. This action was not modified by iberiotoxin or by charybdotoxin, two inhibitors of the calciumactivated potassium channel. The results strongly suggest that pranidipine enhances cyclic GMPindependent NO-induced relaxation of smooth muscle by a mechanism other than through NOinduced hyperpolarization. These effects were in direct contrast to amlodipine, another new 1,4dihydropyridine calcium antagonist.  相似文献

Summary Three active compounds which induce hypocotyl swelling in Phaseolus mungo were isolated from immature seeds of Pisum sativum. For purification of the compounds, our three-step procedure (counter-current distribution, Sephadex LH 20, and partition chromatography on silicic acid) were used. The chemical structures of two of the compounds were determined by synthesis to be -N-carboethoxyacetyl- and -N-carbomethoxyacetyl-D-4-chlorotryptophane. D-4-Chlorotryptophane is the first naturally occurring chlorinated amino acid found.  相似文献
