Artemia functions as living filter for the secondary treatment of distillery effluent, which reduces up to 69% of the total solids and 33.34% of BOD in the saline medium of 60 ppt. Chemical analysis of diluted effluent after treatment with Artemia showed a significant (P less than 0.001) decrease in the electrical conductivity, calcium and potassium values. Smart grid (SG) application is being used nowadays to meet the demand of increasing power consumption. SG application is considered as a perfect solution for combining renewable energy resources and electrical grid by means of creating a bidirectional communication channel between the two systems. In this paper, three SG applications applicable to renewable energy system, namely, distribution automation (DA), distributed energy system-storage (DER) and electrical vehicle (EV), are investigated in order to study their suitability in Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. To compensate the weakness in the existing scheduling algorithms, a novel bandwidth estimation and allocation technique and a new scheduling algorithm are proposed. The technique allocates available network resources based on application’s priority, whereas the algorithm makes scheduling decision based on dynamic weighting factors of multi-criteria to satisfy the demands (delay, past average throughput and instantaneous transmission rate) of quality of service. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism achieves higher throughput, lower delay and lower packet loss rate for DA and DER as well as provide a degree of service for EV. In terms of fairness, the proposed algorithm shows 3%, 7 % and 9% better performance compared to exponential rule (EXP-Rule), modified-largest weighted delay first (M-LWDF) and exponential/PF (EXP/PF), respectively. 相似文献

The pathogenic strains of Vibrio cholerae that cause acute enteric infections in humans are derived from environmental nonpathogenic strains. To track the evolution of pathogenic V. cholerae and identify potential precursors of new pathogenic strains, we analyzed 324 environmental or clinical V. cholerae isolates for the presence of diverse genes involved in virulence or ecological fitness. Of 251 environmental non-O1, non-O139 strains tested, 10 (3.9%) carried the toxin coregulated pilus (TCP) pathogenicity island encoding TCPs, and the CTX prophage encoding cholera toxin, whereas another 10 isolates carried the TCP island alone, and were susceptible to transduction with CTX phage. Most V. cholerae O1 and O139 strains carried these two major virulence determinants, as well as the Vibrio seventh pandemic islands (VSP-1 and VSP-2), whereas 23 (9.1%) non-O1, non-O139 strains carried several VSP island genes, but none carried a complete VSP island. Conversely, 30 (11.9%) non-O1, non-O139 strains carried type III secretion system (TTSS) genes, but none of 63 V. cholerae O1 or O139 strains tested were positive for TTSS. Thus, the distribution of major virulence genes in the non-O1, non-O139 serogroups of V. cholerae is largely different from that of the O1 or O139 serogroups. However, the prevalence of putative accessory virulence genes (mshA, hlyA, and RTX) was similar in all strains, with the mshA being most prevalent (98.8%) followed by RTX genes (96.2%) and hlyA (94.6%), supporting more recent assumptions that these genes imparts increased environmental fitness. Since all pathogenic strains retain these genes, the epidemiological success of the strains presumably depends on their environmental persistence in addition to the ability to produce major virulence factors. Potential precursors of new pathogenic strains would thus require to assemble a combination of genes for both ecological fitness and virulence to attain epidemiological predominance. 相似文献

Proteins in cells fold via a number of intermediates. These intermediates are quite important as they guide the protein to attain its unique native conformation. To solve the immensely difficult problem of protein folding, it is necessary to characterize intermediates which will unravel the mystery of the steps involved in the proper folding of proteins. Cytochromes-c (cyts-c) have played an important role in studies of the earliest events and intermediates in protein folding. They have always been considered as model proteins for protein folding studies due to their intrinsic properties that can be measured by multiple probes. A large number of different solvent conditions have been employed to obtain equilibrium intermediates of cyts-c. These intermediates show structural heterogeneity which is mainly due to the different solvent conditions used to induce them. In this review we present results of conformational and thermodynamic characterization of equilibrium intermediates (molten globules and pre-molten globules) of the mammalian cyts-c under different solvent conditions. 相似文献

We have shown previously and confirmed in this study that the phospholipase A(2) (PLA(2)) activity of peroxiredoxin 6 (Prdx6) is markedly increased by phosphorylation. This report evaluates the conformation and thermodynamic stability of Prdx6 protein after phosphorylation to understand the physical basis for increased activity. Phosphorylation resulted in decreased negative far-UV CD, strengthened ANS binding, and a lack of rigid tertiary structure, compatible with a change in conformation to that of a molten globule. The ΔG°(D) was 3.3 ± 0.3 kcal mol(-1) for Prdx6 and 1.7 ± 0.7 kcal mol(-1) for pPrdx6, suggesting that phosphorylation destabilizes the protein. Phosphorylation of Prdx6 changed the conformation of the N-terminal domain exposing Trp 33, as determined by tryptophan fluorescence and NaI fluorescence quenching. The kinetics of interaction of proteins with unilamellar liposomes (50:25:15:10 DPPC:egg PC:cholesterol:PG molar ratio) were evaluated with tryptophan fluorescence. pPrdx6 bound to liposomes with a higher affinity (K(d) = 5.6 ± 1.2 μM) than Prdx6 (K(d) = 24.9 ± 4.5 μM). By isothermal titration calorimetry, pPrdx6 bound to liposomes with a large exothermic heat loss (ΔH = -31.49 ± 0.22 kcal mol(-1)). Correlating our conformational studies with the published crystal structure of oxidized Prdx6 suggests that phosphorylation results in exposure of hydrophobic residues, thereby providing accessibility to the sites for liposome binding. Because binding of the enzyme to the phospholipid substrate interface is a requirement for PLA(2) activity, these results indicate that a change in the conformation of Prdx6 upon its phosphorylation is the basis for enhancement of PLA(2) enzymatic activity. 相似文献

Phe/Tyr10, Leu/Val/Phe94, and Tyr/Trp/Phe97. These residues are 90% conserved in all sequences reported and are also considered
to be involved in a common folding nucleus. To determine the importance of conserved interactions offered by the side chain
of Leu94, we made an L94G mutant of horse cytochrome c. Characterization of this mutant by the far-UV, near-UV, and Soret circular dichroism, intrinsic and 1-Anilino-8-naphthalene
sulfonate fluorescence, and dynamic light scattering measurements led to the conclusion that the L94G mutant has all the common
structural characteristics of a molten globule at pH 6.0 and 25 °C. NaCl induces a cooperative transition between the acid-denatured
state and a state of L94G having all the common structural characteristics of a pre-molten-globule state at pH 2 and 25 °C.
Thermal denaturation studies showed that the midpoint of denaturation of the mutant is 28 °C less than that of the wild-type
protein. Interestingly, the structure analysis using the coordinates given in the Protein Data Bank (1hrc) also suggested

We investigated areas at the eastern fringe of Kolkata, Dhapa–a land filled with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) land of West Bengal (India) for exploring nematode species diversity, abundance and dynamic at three sites practising different vegetable-based cropping sequences. The area sampled at monthly interval and the soil and root populations estimated at laboratory. The plant-parasitic nematode (PPN) species and free-living group (saprozoics) were estimated from soil. No differences in the diversity of nematode species and feeding groups among the sites in the MSW land were found but considerable variations in abundance and dynamics of PPNs were noted. All three sites at MSW, total PPNs outnumbered free-living nematodes in most of the samples but mononchids were less abundant. Saprozoic nematode index (SNI) was determined; SNI value was low (0.33–0.40) in this organic rich production system. 相似文献
